Walmart’s decision to eliminate 24-hour stores in the US

Walmart no longer has 24-hour stores in the United States, especially in Raleigh NC. In 2020, Walmart announced that it would be reducing store hours at all of its locations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of this change, Walmart stores that had previously been open 24 hours a day began closing overnight to allow for increased cleaning and restocking.

While some Walmart stores have since returned to their pre-pandemic hours, none of them have reverted back to being open 24 hours a day. Walmart has stated that this decision was made in order to better serve customers during peak shopping hours and to allow for additional cleaning and stocking time overnight.

Great store with a lot tiles and more. They have a great team for attention to customers, efficients and with good councils for helping you to choice and solvent your questions.

Pickup service at this location is a nightmare. 10 minutes after pressing I have arrived, my order was marked as complete. After 20 minutes, no one had brought my order. Called their store number, and waited 10 minutes. No one ever answered. Ended up leaving. If you have this problem, contact support through Walmart website and say store is unresponsive. My order was completely refunded.

This is the worst Walmart to go to for grocery pickup. Every time I shop I either get dented cans, wrong items, or defective items. The last 3 times I have placed and order online for pickup their systems have been down and orders have been delayed. This time I asked to speak to a store manager ended up getting the assistant manager and I simply told her I was not mad at the fact that the orders were delayed ( being that I keep putting my trust in them to fulfill my orders) but the fact that no one was updating any of the customers about what was going on. I worked for a grocery store before and if any of our orders were delayed we would call or text to let the customers know. I can also understand their system being shut down they probably were not able to do that but how about sending an employee out to the parking lot where customers have been waiting for 30 minutes- 1 hour to update them on what is going on rather than letting everyone sitting waiting clueless. And I told all of this to the assistant store manager and all she had to say was “I haven’t been here in 2 days I just walked into all of this mess”. Okay so do something about it then take the initiative and give your customers a better experience whether you were here or not.

The worst experience ever. I ordered a pick up online. And waited for whole hour to get this. And I am STILL WAITING looking how others get their orders. And if you ever have a problem like me then don’t even bother calling them because there is no one picking up the phone and their voice mail is full
UPDATE: had to leave after 1,5 hours of waiting. Support could not help too. They just canceled my order instead of helping.

I realize no one expects great customer service from Walmart. There are some great individuals but the culture has not fostered a hospitality and service mentality. Everyone knows this and those who shop here get past that because of lower prices. However, this location is taking bad corporate culture to new levels. This location now just closes whenever they decide on a given day to close.

For a while even though online it stated they closed at 11 pm, they would close at 10 pm. So, tonight I rush up at 9:30 pm. Even though online it now says 10 pm and the store hours on the door clearly state the store closes at 10 pm, the gentleman at the door was saying it’s 9 pm this week (as he turned multiple customers away).

I’d recommend calling before you go but… if you e called before you may know that could take a while. I’d just go before dark or find a new location.

If there is a reply by management stating that you don’t have enough staff, I’d simply ask you why the Target that is also in Brier Creek has enough staff to stay opened until their posted hours. Perhaps there’s a reason people are choosing to work there and not at this Walmart location. The other Walmart location is still opened until 11 pm.

Ah yes, the Full Size Walmart.
Per my pic, the lighting build out inside the vast suburban ziggurat took a whole day to manufacture at some far far away hive of humanity.
Under all those (high efficiency, I hope) searingly white glow sticks I found Everything in the catalog. [That’s an oblique reference to 20th century retailing ~ for the older 😉 folks.] Which was the point of driving out to this commodious temple complex adjacent to the airport.
What wasn’t expected was the impressive array of clearance goodies! Bigger store = more stuff to smush, expire, and be sku canceled, etc. Great oddities leapt into the trolley.
In the land of low-priced, er, land…
There is enough money left over to actually staff the store, and clean it too — features wanting nearer to the price gouge leading store back home.
This store resides in a larger retail temple complex, but in the time of Google maps & online ordering, no one cares. Evening traffic was predictably vicious, again not Walmart’s doing per sé.
Lastly, like most of these I’ve visited since the plague arrived there are few donuts left after lunch and very rarely are the fluff variety to be had. You’ve been warned. 😈

Don’t buy anything frozen or refrigerated. It will melt/spoil by the time you get to the front of the line. Be prepped to wait over an hour in line on a Sunday afternoon, in any of the 4 out of 26 registers they open.

Also, sample many of the free drinks left by shoppers in the aisles, as there is not nearly enough staff to handle 4 registers (which would have been less if they didn’t page all available associates) AND maintain spills, gross and mangled products on shelves.

The shining jewel is the pharmacy department, which is always up to code, prompt, and courteous.

DONT do curbside pickup here if you have any plans for the day. Ordered for pickup from 12-1, order was delayed until 1:02 PM. Which is fine, it happens, a lot of places are short staffed. Someone came out and asked who the order was for and said they would be back out. Waited an hour in curbside area because they came back out and said they were still shopping. Why does the app say it’s been completed if that is the case? I’m unsure if they’re understaffed or if the workers are just incompetent. However, I think they’d be better off putting more people on registers and shutting down their curbside all together. I couldn’t fathom being a manager of a store and allowing my employees to give this type of service. After this order, I will avoid this Walmart at all costs.

Does not make sense why this Walmart have only 2 register open Saturday and Sunday people have to sit in the line for 50-55 mins

Oh my God I had always heard that the restaurants in Sam’s club and Walmart supercenters were amazing. this is my first time eating at one and I have to say that the buzz was all true.
We we had some of the most amazing Pizza I’ve ever eaten from a quick serve restaurant and two huge slices of milkshake two drinks and some hot dogs which were kind of terrible was less than $9 I about fell out
So I would say if you need to do some in bulk shopping and want to grab a quick bite for lunch or dinner definitely combine the two at a Sam’s or Walmart supercenter

Visited around 7pm on 08/13. Lots of price tags missing in the food area, refrigerated food items mixed up all over the place, and many employees looking pretty stressed out. I also saw an employee having an extended, loud argument with a customer in the dairy product area. Not sure what was going on today but it wasn’t typical of this location.
They’ve also been having a bunch of wine on clearance but if you pay attention at all to wine prices, this wine was originally marked way too high. To the point that even when discounted, it’s still more expensive than other local stores.

This has been my nearest Walmart the 5 years I’ve been living in Raleigh and near a Super target. It’s not too big of a loss that the McDonald’s inside closed during Covid. Their food was greasier than any McDonald’s I’d ever been too, and communication could be difficult at times. I’m also happy that I switched all of my prescriptions from their pharmacy to a different chain pharmacy down the street. At the pharmacy, lines were lengthy, employment were rude, and at times it was inconvenient to receive notifications that prescriptions were ready only to find out differently after parking and entering the store. It’s a solid Walmart with all the regular needs. Sometimes it can be hard to order cakes online or get someone to come to the bakery, but their cakes are great for a good price. Bakery staff are typically friendly when they are available.

This Walmart is significantly better than the one in Wake Forest. It’s well stocked and nicely maintained, and the pickup works much better. I feel like they have more choices and the layout, while drastically different, seems more functional. It’s about the same drive from south Wake Forest so we go here when we can.

I think we know by now that customer service doesn’t exist in Walmart, and the employees are blatant about their preferences to not be there. I’d like to know why there are 30 check-out lanes, but never more than two SELF-CHECK-OUT lanes open at any given time. Why do I have to find the groceries BY MYSELF, answer my own questions, stock the shelves myself, then check everything out myself? 🙄
