What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. We went there for Mothers Day. Staff well trained to maintain good SOP. Eventhough it got quite crowded during lunch hour, our food arrived quite fast. Personally recommend the espresso chicken. The pizza was a little too thin but taste is good. We got one of our order wrongly but the staff never ask us to return the wrong order instead asked if they could send the correct order now. We agreed and the dining experience was made smooth because of the service rendered. We were not charged for the wrong order as well. Waiting to go back again!

  2. Very nice cafe. Everything was very systematic. Despite being a busy place, there’s a system set in place. Staffs are well trained. Food came fast. Everything proceed smoothly. Very impressive.

Food wise, taste is good. Coffee is delicious. Adequate selection. Smoke duck salad was delicious. Portion is enough for sharing. Sadly for dessert, the selection was very limited.

  3. We went there on weekday around lunch hour and we are seated near the entrance. Love their environment, ambient, and the vibe. The bar looks nice, the staff is friendly at least to us.
We ordered two drinks and one dessert since we had lunch earlier.
The grape fruit cold brew is surprisingly interesting and refreshing at the same time. The dessert is OK.

  4. I always enjoy coming here in the afternoon. When the crowd’s not too heavy. There’s a parking (paying) area just within walking distance.
The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff attentive. Beers cold. Drinks are good. Food is fine. Quite a good selection on the menu.
    Definitely worth a repeat visit

  5. Good portion with yummy taste. Plus side, thier price is reasonable. Expected queue during peak hours. Environment is great for a small group gathering. Cafe is quite packed so please make reservation.

The food here is simply amazing! Delicious and well presented. And not to mention it’s a very Instagramable place too!
The drinks here are seriously underrated. The smoothies, the coffee and the tea are delicious!

This place is splendid. Definitely a must visit cafe. I loved the ambience and the environment so much. The food here, ive no complains regarding the taste. It was so delicious just that the price put a dent in my wallet but it was worth it

Let’s talk about the good things first. – Service: the staff is nice and friendly – Atmostphere: spacious and quiet cafe. A good place if you wanna sit for long hours to work. They have plug points at many seating areas. Now the ugly truths. – Food: don’t be deceived by the photos on the menu. 1. Omega Feast – the dish came with 4 slices of white bread hidden underneath (which was not written in the description or shown in the menu). Clearly we didn’t touch the bread at all. It looks pathetic. The poached eggs were hard and rough. The whole dish was pretty bland. 2. Tartine – the sourdough was so dense and mushy. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s just bad. – Price: it’s definitely on the high side for the quality of food that they serve.

Coffee was nice. Nice cafe/restaurant inside. We ordered breakfast, sourdough with toppings. The portions were incredibly small, barley any avocado on the toast and the poached egg wasn’t cooked (the white was still a bit runny). The food was edible but not what I would expect for the price.

It’s my third visit since the first a few years back. Don’t get me wrong. Nothing to do with the food. Simply because the pocket hurts =P Well, that’s because this place serves dishes that’re really pleasant to your taste buds compared to averag-ish western food choices in other cafes. Also, their Aussie Iced Caffe Latte is second to none on the island. Initially I was hesitated to order because it’s priced at RM18, but my gawd, the first sip blew me away. It could taste a tad sweet, however, for people without a sweet tooth. The cafe is spacious and has a lightwell, making it a great place for catch-ups. There are also local reads about Penang’s history for sale =) No comments about the presentable bakeries and confectionaries as I haven’t tried them. I’m keeping that one star for their room of improvement. ‘Cause I hope that they’ll lower the food price or come up with affordable dishes that are good as the ones on the menu =P

Had the pleasure chatting with the founder, Nigel and learnt some interesting facts about the history of this shop. 1. There is a painting by the entrance taken over 150 years ago of Beach Street and one taken recently (hung in middle of the shop). Check it out! 2. There wooden beams on the roof of the shop is original from over 100 years ago. Survived both World Wars. Was one of the few remaining shops standing that survived the bombings. You will notice the shops next to it is built further in (they didn’t survive bombings) and by requirements when rebuilt are further in from the street. 3. Had one of the tastiest and most delicious pasta: Truffle Alfredo Pasta. Try it and believe me. It’s the best. If u do, give me a thumbs up for this review. Else, challenge this review. 😆 The owners are sometimes managing the shop themselves. Check if they are in, as they are well trained from the Melbourne school of coffee and can probably elevate your coffee connoisseur experience. 😊

Mugshot Cafe is definitely the best place for Europe style pastry breakfast. Bagel is their top highlight, we tried the one with cream cheese. The bagel itself is soft in the inside the slightly crumb on the outside, generous amount of cream cheese with high quality and freshness to it. There is a bakery next to it in which we tried the ham & cheese croissant, its flaky and every single bite you will feel the ham and cheese flavor. Coffee itself is good as well, strong nutty flavor. There is glasses shop behind the shop as well.

We stopped by this morning for a coffee and quick breakfast. The coffee was great and croissants from the bakery next door (same owner, I believe) were very tasty. Plenty of tables and seating down the narrow interior. Prices are a little high for Malaysia, however still more affordable than my home country so no problems.

Ordered Pistachio lemon cake and Bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. The cake was up to standard, taste not bad. Bagel wise, the chef was very generous with the spread (a bit too generous 😅), match well with smoked salmon. Also ordered an apple celery juice without add on sugar. Taste very green, refreshing with a hint of salt. Absolute hydrating. Environment wise consider comfortable with air-conditioning but flies were around, slightly disturbing. Overall, quite good experience in this cafe. Floor crew were very helpful and friendly. Love the free and easy vibe.

Cosy place for afternoon tea and gathering with friends. Yogurt seems to be a popular option with customers. We did not try as we only came in for simple drinks. Nice place overall. Can see quite a number of tourists here too. There is a bakery next to it which sells delicious pastries. Got the last piece of carrot walnut cake which was really delicious and filling.

Nice ambiance. Good thing about this place is you can order croissants from the shop next to it. Ordered hot choc with a croissant just want to get the feel in Paris (because just done watching Emily in Paris season 3) 😂 kinda sad that the hot choc is wasn’t that thick and the croissant was not that crispy. But still worth to try it out. There’s a optic shop behind this cafe, you’ll definitely see it if you go to the washroom 😉
