- Reviews:Moved to Philly and made it a personal goal to get back into Jiu Jitsu after 3 years off the mats. I’ve been training at Logic for 6 months and I can’t emphasize enough how this has been the best decision I’ve made in a while. Kristian, Dennis, Kyle, Morgan, Craig, and Kanaan all create a supportive environment in which you set the goals and they push you, mentor you, and hold you accountable for them. The facilities are the best I’ve trained in, I love the sense of community amongst rolling partners, and the online platform (logicbjjonline.com) is a great complement/expansion to the concepts taught in class.By Nico Rodriguez Melo (a year ago)Top Jiu Jitsu gym in philly. I’ve trained for a couple of years now and in many gyms, and logic is hands down the most solid gym I’ve been to! Great community and environment to call home.By Marco Ghilotti (4 months ago)I spent a night in the city and decided to check out one of the local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools in the area. I decided to visit Logic, and was very impressed with the gym. They had a large lot to park in was a plus being in the city, immense mat space, very clean facilities and showers. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and head instructor Kristian Woodmansee taught an incredible class. He ran the class in a very unique format that I really enjoyed. I’ll definitely find a reason to be in the city soon, just to have an excuse to visit the gym again!!!By Gustavo Recinos (8 months ago)Stopped by for do in class for my son in the way to a tournament. Staff was beyond helpful and knowledgeable. Several black belts were in attendance and my son had a great experience.By Trinity Yanez (a year ago)Amazing gym with great vibes! I stopped by here while on a trip to Philly for a relative’s wedding. Logic BJJ was the first gym that popped up with the best reviews and it did not disappoint. It was a pleasure to meet Kyle and Morgan who were nice and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone else and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again in the future. Thanks again for the fun rolls!By Frank Khamnoy (9 months ago)

- Reviews:I been coming to Philadelphia Jiu Jitsu for about 3 years and for the past 3 years it has been nothing but great and exciting! Damon and the other instructors know their stuff by heart and have a large range of knowledge of the sport alongside other types of mix martial arts that you learn a lot from various forms and styles. The school is very clean and organize with a large mat so their is plenty of space for everyone to drill moves and wrestle during class hours! Highly recommend!!By Eddie J (a year ago)I had the honor to attend a few of Damon’s seminars. They were excellent!! Damon has a great knowledge base in jiujitsu, judo and other types of martial arts. He has a excellent teaching style and is patient with students new to the martial arts. There is always a positive attitude and will take time on or off the mat to answer questions and point you in the right direction. If you are looking to train in the martial arts, I would highly recommend Philadelphia Jiujitsu! You will not be disappointed.By Jason Kozain (10 years ago)I have been training Mixed Martial Arts for 3 years and have visited and trained in many Academies. Philadelphia Jiu Jitsu is an amazing Mixed Martial Arts school located on Cherry Street in Philadelphia. I attended a class this past week and was extremely impressed with Damon and how he runs his academy. It is obvious that Damon loves teaching his students and has a great deal of knowledge. He is very conscious of making safety a priority and monitors all students through the entire class looking at students technique and assuring safety is given from both partners during drills. He pairs up students to make sure that the more advanced student is able to help a beginner. The school is very clean and the atmosphere is very friendly with student of all levels participating in the classes. I felt very welcomed as a new student and enjoyed the class very much. I will definitely be returning when I am in the area to train there. Thank you Damon and Philly Jiu Jitsu students for giving me such a great experience.By Dr. Gina Marie Gesualdo (8 years ago)I trained with Damon for 2 years while attending school in Philadelphia. I was a total beginner then and had no prior experience with MMA / Jiu Jitsu. He was also teaching amateur and professional fighters at his school. Damon is a great teacher and he got me completely hooked to martial arts. He gives you personal attention and makes it a point to spar with every single person in the academy, including white belts. His curriculum is also unique. Too many other schools today have students start sparring on their knees and totally ignore the stand-up aspect of the fight game. You will not see this at Damon’s school. His students are taught a comprehensive blend of stand-up grappling (Judo, Wrestling etc.) in addition to ground fighting and striking. Damon will ensure you come out of his school with a well-rounded skill set. I strongly recommend him to anyone looking to get into martial arts in theBy Adi P (10 years ago)I’ve trained at several excellent jiu-jitsu schools since coming to Philadelphia in 1998, and, while I have also received fine instruction at other jiu-jitsu gyms in this city, Damon Umholtz’s school has been my favorite, by far. There’s a great sense of camaraderie at this school, and every time I go to train there, I can feel my mood instantly improve, and my stresses and worries fade. Damon’s school offers a great combination of knowledgeable and thorough instruction, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and affordability (including, importantly for me, no contracts). Damon himself has a wealth of knowledge and experience in jiu-jitsu and judo, and in martial arts generally. In particular, as a “little guy,” I especially appreciate how he can use his experience to develop tweaks in techniques for stand-up fighting, standing grappling, and groundwork, in order to make them work more effectively for people of different body types. For me, Damon’s drive to seek out and test new techniques–in jiu-jitsu, judo, and other martial arts–indicates spirit of openness that I consider to be the mark of a true martial artist. I highly recommend Philadelphia Jiu-jitsu for jiu-jitsu players, judoka, or other martial artists, of any skill level.By Robert Tucker (10 years ago)

Thank you for reading! If you have any additional information about the Jiu Jitsu in Philadelphia PA, please leave a comment below. We would love to hear from you!
I’ve been here for a couple of months already and I don’t feel like I’m part of a team, I feel like family! I never really had much experience with Martial Arts so at first, I didn’t know what to expect but the culture at this gym is very welcoming and beginner friendly especially after getting insight into other gyms in the area.
You have it all here when it comes to what this gym offers: advanced, beginner, kids, and even a class focused on strength & conditioning running throughout the week. Although this gym mostly trains in GI, there are classes for NOGI as well. Classes are built around the use of self-defense and competition which can be shown on their accolade wall.
The professor, Anton is down to earth and breaks it down for us so everybody can achieve their goals with Jiu Jitsu. He and his fellow instructors have made this gym what it is today by keeping their students’ spirits, energy, and skills high, which is why the gym has outgrown its previous location so the family is growing.
I’ve been training here for about 6 months now and it’s been an overwhelmingly positive experience.
I work full time and have two kids, so it’s not always easy to do things for myself. With the flexible schedule that SAS Philadelphia offers I can really dedicate some quality time to train and even bring my oldest son to train on occasion which is a really nice.
Anton (Owner) is very attentive, patient, and helpful which made starting for the first time very welcoming and fun. He is extremely dedicated to his students and never hesitates to go above and beyond to help.
The curriculum is top notch and the team itself feels like family. Everyone does their best to help one another and contribute to the experience.
There are a variety of plans/prices to get started to cater to everyone and the times/schedules are great/flexible. If you are interested in trying BJJ I would highly recommend coming in for a trial!
The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. He is very passionate about teaching and a true student of the game. We are fortunate for having him train us. Every class present new challenges that Professor Anton walks us through every time. Not only that very supportive during tournaments. Playlist alway on ???? mode.He is a superstar on and off the mat. A true inspiration. ????
I’ve been coming to SAS for two months now and have enjoyed each class immensely. What originally started out as a new hobby and way to hopefully put on some muscle, is quickly becoming a new passion of mine.
The owner, Anton, is attentive and knowledgeable and takes the time to make sure each student is getting the right technique regardless of belt level.
The whole community of the gym has a total family feel to it. Egos are checked at the door and everyone is here looking to make each other just 1% better each class. Would recommend if you are a newcomer to martial arts like myself or even looking for more experienced students to roll with.
SAS has been such an amazing gym to be a part of. I had never done jiu jitsu before joining, but the owner Anton is so good at making sure his classes are approachable by all skill levels. It’s a great workout, and the gym has a really welcoming atmosphere, it really starts to feel like a little family. Everyone is so supportive. 100% recommend giving SAS a try!
