a month agoGreat place, the weather was perfect, it was my first time in California and also seeing this place. It feel safe and very family oriented place. Parking is a little tricky but once you get use to it you’ll find it pretty fast I hope you enjoy this place as I did.a week agoSocal resident born cali native & 1st time there at 53 . Crazy. Awesome beautiful place to go to. Restaurant & service was great. I havent done the trails yet or the rooms. Thats next time. So didnt rate the rooms. But definitely recommend..in the last weekDined in the bar area as the dining area was an hour wait. You will never want to leave, then I will never be able to get a reservation, so stay away so I can keep it to myself. I don’t want to share this place with anyone. I wanna keep all the lovely gorgeousness for myself.

in the last weekDuring our stay with family over a period of 5 days, we enjoyed our vacation home. Beautifully decorated, wonder beachfront scene, close to all amenities and downtown area, once we discovered the parking arrangements, in the area-all was good! Only suggestion for future visitors, all towel, toiletries, etc. provided would be nice confined to it’s single area..so the count provided and usability a little more efficient….we looked everywhere for articles that we needed and had to combine pieces and parts to see the total count of items..All in all – we had a very comfortable and enjoyable time.. Great patio!!a month agoWe stayed in Unit 223 for 3 weeks this summer. The unit is very comfortable and inviting! The bed linens and towels are top quality, the modern kitchen is well-equipped with quality appliances and pots/pans/dishes, etc. The spacious and well-furnished patio is very nice. We felt like we were at home! The location is perfect, we enjoyed the relative quiet and beauty of the Bay but only a short 2 1/2 block walk to the ocean.6 months agoWe could not be happier with the experience. the place was lovely. No issues at all. But most of all, the beach (on the bay side) was literally 30 paces from the patio. Unbelievable! And Pam was awesome…warm, responsive and fun. We will be back.4 weeks agoWe rented 4 casas de Balboa for a family reunion and couldn’t be happier. Ideal location. Quiet but near everything, including the harbor-side beach across the street. Walkable to restaurants. The casas are fully equipped with all we needed, including well appointed kitchens. Clean, comfortable, and premium quality throughout.a month agoThis was the perfect staycation! It’s a great location for families with young kids. It’s on a dead-end street right across from mother’s beach and the lighthouse playground. The bay is very calm and it’s an easy walk to the restaurants and main beach/pier. The unit was clean, well stocked and perfect for our family. We’ll be back soon!

Overall, we loved our stay at this resort and will return again.
Pros:
-It was obvious that the villa had recently undergone a complete remodel and it looked beautiful.
-For the most part, the service was top-notch and timely.
-Having a full kitchen was perfect for our large family.
-Short walk down to the state park and the beach, or you can take the shuttle
-Pools were warm and the hot tubs were hot
-Loved having an in-unit washer and dryer
Cons:
-Our oven would not hold a temperature. It would preheat but then not stay at the temperature.
-The last two days, our kitchen sink was clogged and despite the repair crew coming to attempt to fix it, we had to deal with a non-functioning sink filled with dirty water our final two days.
-The property is very hilly, which makes getting from one end to the other a great workout for those who want one but difficult for those with mobility challenges.
Overall 4 stars
The Good: Amazing location, amenities, pools, and the GM we happened to run into was super nice. Bed was 4 stars.
Master shower was a double shower which was amazing but all of the bathrooms were definitely dated.
The bad:
-We weren’t told about the pool that was geared for kids that had a splash pad and slides. (There are three separate pool areas) we discovered it while on a walk during the last day.
-No one at Marriott has stayed in one of these I bet. They should provide a mini cooking oil and all of the cooking utensils are metal which isn’t great for cooking on Teflon pans.
– Bartender at the main pool (old guy) was rude. Stood there for a HOT minute before he said “need something” and it was not busy lol
– the fixture in the shower would not allow you to switch to using the tub so we couldn’t give our toddler a bath
– love that Marriott was supporting what seemed to be a smaller company using more natural shampoo and conditioner, however the shampoo was terrible. Wouldn’t dispense from the dispenser well and then it took a ton of product to actually wash your hair.
For the price you are definitely paying for the location and amenities. We would likely come back but may try others first before coming back.
We come here every two years for our family reunion, it has been such a blast everytime. The beach shuttle is nice but I wish there were more times, they added more activities which is nice, but at the pools the water is only in one place on the side, I miss when it was in the middle and the paper cups! Besides that, great experience, clean rooms, pull out couches are a W.
We are vacation club owners in Spain and rented a week via red week here. We’ve also stayed at Marriott Cypress Harbour in Orlando (as well as our home resort).
Initially impressions on the resort was good. Unfortunately our accommodation wasn’t so great.
The housekeeping was poor. We found rubbish on the floor in the bedroom, empty sweet wrappers on the top of the fridge, one cupboard smelt of poo and the dishwasher stunk (and there were dirty knickers on the floor next to the balcony).
The kitchen was falling to bits and really needed replacing.
We had a few issues (toaster didn’t work, toilet kept refilling every few hours making lots of noise). We were also next to a golf course where the cut the grass between 3am and 5am every other morning with very noisy machinery.
The customer services was generally good and helpful although they were unable to fix the toilet was 2 visits.
We went to a sales presentation which was awful. The lady didn’t have a clue what she was talking about and made us feel like second grade citizens. Apparently the reason was had an old and dirty villa was because we were renting.
On day 2 our daughter was very sick after visiting the pool. No one else caught it thankfully.
Overall very disappointed.
6 years ago, my daughter took her family of 5 and me to this great resort. Great pools and service. Best memory yoga facing Pacific Ocean at 8 AM daily.
