What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Love the Joliet location, always clean and well stocked. So many employees who go out of their way to help you and answer your questions. They also have adoptable kitties!

  2. I just want to acknowledge the cashier, Sylvia nowadays you don’t see a lot of friendly customer service good attitude etc.
The store was massive busy. The lines were long there was a lot going on. She managed to still continue greeting each customer as they walked in she managed. just still give her customers 100% at the register with a smile with a calm cool attitude.. so kudos to her because you don’t see a lot of that these days the quality of customer service has gone down so I appreciate her positive attitude

  3. Love this place. I do work there at the Pet Hotel. They really take good care of their guest dogs!

  4. Customer service at this store is horrible. The manager Kimberly was very rude. I purchased crickets and was told they would get them for me right away. I watched her check out 6 more people and then asked her if she could get them for me she told me I would have to keep waiting. I asked can I just get a refund she told me to get back in line. I responded by saying if you couldn’t get me the product why did you let me purchase it. I have waited already for you to check out 6 people that were not in line when I bought them. She said to get back in line if you want your money back. She wasn’t the only cash-ringing people out. I work in the same shopping center as this PetSmart and will not be going back because of the rude manager.

  5. I was.really surprised. Good store, lots of items, obviously, because it’s a huge store. And for reptile owners, they say they never run out of crickets. That’s a problem in the Joliet, Shorewood, Plainfield area. I guess they breed them onsite so they always have a lot in stock.

We love NAWS! My boyfriend and I adopted Chorizo from one of their weekend adoption events about 4 months ago. We really liked that they had private rooms available for us to interact with him separate from other people and cats. This was not the case at another adoption center we had tried. Once we decided to adopt him, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the process was quick but informative. They really walked you through any relevant information, medical history, and encouraged contacting them if we needed any help. The best part about this process is that they offer a cat behavioral specialist to help the cat settle into the home and answer any questions. We have another cat at home, who was not excited to have a roommate at first. Ginny communicated regularly to walk us through everything and encouraged us every step of the way. I’m very happy to say that now after 4 months, the cats accept each other as roommates and no longer require separation or supervision. I definitely recommend working with them. They really want to help their pets be happy in their new homes, and will take the pet back in the worst case scenario so that no one is left in a bad situation. Although unlike other adoption centers, much support is provided before reaching that point. Thank you NAWS!

I can’t say enough about the good that this organization does. I got involved about eight months ago by becoming a foster to baby kittens. I currently have a three-year-old foster and three 5-week old kittens. It’s amazing how much I have learned and also the support I get from this group. They save the lives of thousands of cats and dogs every year and get them into good, loving homes. I’ve got a resident three year old cat that we adopted from NAWS and I also have a one year old cat that was from my first foster litter, and I became a foster failure????????. Even when there’s no room to take another abandon kitten or dog, they seem to find the room through the wonderful foster program they have. I would recommend this 110% if you were looking to adopt a new pet.

Such a nice shelter. Everyone is very helpful and made the adoption process extremely easy. I was emailed promptly 24 hours after I had submitted the application and had an appointment to see my kitty that day. They do all the necessary medical things for cats like spay/neuter and vaccines. The kitten I met with had a bit of a respitory infection she was getting over and they gave me the medicine free of charge, which was very nice. Thank you for helping me find Millie (formerly known as Citrine at the shelter)! Highly recommended!!

After trying to adopt 2 kittens with another rescue, I found NAWS and let me say this rescue is amazing! The application was easy to fill out. I picked out 2 kittens and sent my application in. Application was very easy to fill out. They got back to me within 24 hours. One of the kittens I had picked out had gotten adopted already but was told I was more than welcome to come and look for another kitten. The foster ended up being another kitten that she fostered to see if I was interested. I ended up adopting both. I’ve had them for 3 months now and they are just so lovely and full of life. They definitely are keeping me on my toes but they are such sweet cats. The staff was just so lovely and so happy about finding homes for their animals at the shelter. Great place to adopt!

1 best rescue around if looking to adopt dog or cat come to naws do not shop. They have vet on-site all workers and volunteers are great . We been fostering for naw for past 4yrs they aren’t funded by government only by donations yet they helped more cats and dogs then any other shelter I know of in the area. EVEN if you aren’t sure you want to adopt fostering is great way to help save animal life til they get adopted and or if you can’t commit to keeping animal for there hole life fostering gives you chances to have pet til they are adopted also great for seniors whom are alone it benefits then and the dog or cat

I had the best experience at Tender Loving Care recently. The shelter was clean, the staff was friendly and the animals seemed taken care of. We adopted Willow (formerly Twinkles) last week and she has been the best addition to our family.

I adopted my Labrador here and she’s an amazing dog now. However I had to call 3 times just to ‘reserve’ her incase previous callers didn’t take her home. Luckily they didn’t. The day we are supposed to pick her up, we are 15 minutes early and the parking is PACKED. And I’d we arrived a few minutes later, our pup would’ve been taken by another couple, which was alarming since we’ve already had been informed she’d be ours. The description is not all true either. It was said she was great with dogs but I’ve only got her to be gentle with a few. She does not like other dogs at all. She was also very skinny and definitely harmed by other owners before she was admitted into the shelter, but that isn’t the shelters fault- I really hope. I appreciate the fact that I adopted and was able to rescue a loving and now happy dog, but the business itself could be improved.

This place does NOT CARE about the animals they have at all. When I walked in to look at some cats, it smelled so bad they had candles lit to try to mask the scent. It smelled so bad because these poor cats and dogs are in small little crates with dirty water, food, and little box. All the cats were sleeping in their littler box since they didn’t have an blankets or anything else in their crate. They have to sit on top of their pee in their littler box. Staff is rude and only cares about money. They also kept all the sick animals next to the rest of their healthy cats and dogs but yelled at someone for brining their own dog in to look at the animals up for adoption.
