What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I adopted my cat GizMoHawk 5 years ago from here and lately been having a hard time, to realize his health was at serious risk from dental problems. Instead of judging me for not being able to handle costs at this time, they very graciously walked me through applications to make sure I could keep him healthy and at home with me. At all of his visits he was treated as though he was one of their own pets, the vet who did his dental work was above and beyond caring and obviously loved what she did. It’s just a wonderful facility, Without their help I wouldn’t have my best friend. Find yours here or donate to help them continue their Amazing work!!! Thank you Animal Friends!!! ❤️????❤️

  2. I adopted Mort from the Red Collar senior section years ago from here. He is such a wonderful old man. He is still going strong! Wonderful people who are serious about helping animals.

  3. We have adopted our third dog (in 20 years) from Animal Friends, and again the experience was wonderful. Our little Daisy is blooming at home and we’re happy to have her. They brought our dog from horrible conditions and brought her back to health with medical care and love from her foster family.

  4. Animal friends is a lovely animal shelter and hospital. I am always treated kindly, and you can tell the staff really cares. I have never had any problems taking any of my pets there for the last several years and prefer no one else. Thank you for taking care of our family extensions ????

  5. Took my dog here to get fixed. The prices were very good and the staff took very good care of my baby. There is the animal shelter on site and the clinic. Have no been inside the shelter. The clinic does have a little store inside too with slightly used pet supplies at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

We found three kittens. We were willing to adopt two, but, didn’t know what to do. Turns out, these babies were only a week old. They were so helpful! There was no way we were prepared to care for these babies. They explained to us how they would require round the clock attention. They’d have to be syringe fed, stimulated to toilet and kept warm. They let us stay as long as we needed as they got the kittens settled and prepared for fostering with a trained human. I’m so glad we took them in. It was the right thing to do.

Went during walk-in hours 3/17 and came home with this sweet guy! The staff was helpful, nice, and reasonably fast. I got to leave with a new friend in a bit over an hour! I also appreciate that I was able to get a discounted pet insurance policy with no waiting period. Such a sweet kitty, too! So glad I visited!

Went in on Sunday to look for a cat, looking online helped a ton. We had a list of a few we wanted to see and almost immediately fell in love. The staff was so helpful and nice! Great experience. You do have to make an appointment on weekends. Simply email them.

We got the best kitten in the world! We are so happy cause she had just come in and we seen her first and she was definitely in a home before because she’s the most lovable creature alive ! Thank you sooo much for filling a gap I really needed !

Friendly, clean building to find your forever friend at your side with people that love animals and love to help you find the one that is right for you. They offer lower services for those in need, not skipping on quality but because spaying and neutering your animal is important and because end of life services for your pet is hard enough.

I walked in on a Saturday and was looking for a furry best friend. Well, I found him! The staff at Western Ave were flawless with their help, input, expectations, etc. Everyone was so caring and proud of their animals. I was chosen by a pup the staff named Chowder. All white Pitt mix who happens to be deaf. Every staff person I encountered knew all about this dog and how goofy he is. They made me feel at ease with adopting my first deaf pup and allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed. Now, Chowder is home and loving being a lap dog, playing with his sister, sleeping on the couch and going for walkies. He even knows a few sign language commands!

Incredibly caring and genuinely empathetic individuals who enjoy working with animals and trying to find homes for the ones that they work with. They have busy days and are not staffed to capacity like any shelter that relies a lot on volunteers (always remember that when you’re at a place like this) to help take some of the workload off of the main stay day to day. The entire operation is still genuinely impressive with how it works and how many people work with the animals to keep them content and happy enough or as they can be while needing homes. Honesty is imperative when adopting or surrendering so as much information is given to new adopters and so that a proper home can be found so the cycle doesn’t repeat itself. The best outcome is a permanent home for all animals with their humans. Sometimes things just don’t work out. I had a cat for roughly 6 years, but when I adopted two I suddenly had cat allergies reemerge, that hadnt shown themselves since childhood. It made my daily asthma reignited and worsened, my usual daily migraines unbearable even with medication. These conditions and more made my already disabled life almost impossible to live on a daily basis even though I loved and was enamored with the new friends I brought home. They warmed up to me quickly too, right from the getgo, which can say a lot when it comes to cats. We explored almost every avenue for a month, but the only thing changing was that I was getting closer to a stay at the hospital even with all of the medications and changes in the household we made. Brushing, grooming, wet wipes, diet changes. It all failed to make a difference. I felt like a failure. Letting go of a pet you’ve welcomed into your life is hard, at no matter what stage. They helped reassure me that what I was doing was a hard decision, but a necessary one not just for me, but for my fur friends so that they didn’t suffer from not having a proper caretaker. With as much love they showed me in a month, anyone would be lucky to have them in their lives. They deserve to be with someone who can give them that unrestrained by such problems. To me they are perfect and someone else will see that too. Their staff responded within 24 hours, sometimes even within a few hours of all of my calls to any questions or what solutions we could try. To ultimately the final decision to surrender. These are people who care. Who love animals. Who make it their lives to do what is best for them. Every single day, for everyone who interacts with them. For many just as a volunteered position because that’s how far the love goes. Always remember that when you’re there. I hope you find your new best friend(s) with their help. ❤️

Adopted my dog Maya here 7 years ago and she still goes every year for a checkup! Great staff, great doctors, and they do so much work for the animals ❤️ we also took our new puppy Angelo to a class with Vanessa and she was outstanding! Our boy is so well behaved because we took him to the puppy preschool, we tell everyone about it!
