Only because I can’t rate it zero. To be fare, the selection of items is pretty good. The vegetables are kept fresh with the sprinklers, but the biggest problem is the cashier’s. They have 3 check out areas, but rarely open more than 1. It isn’t uncommon for 2/6 of the computers to be down at the only checkout area. Comically bad is the best way to describe it. Sometimes you get lucky and you are in and out in a couple of minutes, sometimes there’s nobody in the store and the line stretches back to the end of the aisle because 3 self checkout computers are running for everybody. I switched to Meijer for big trips and the hazel Park food center for small ones, will make an effort to never go back here even though it’s 1/2 mile away from me.
I have tried giving this store a chance multiple times since it’s close to me, but every time I instantly regret it.
We’ve tried to do online pickup orders, and they are consistently out of stock on so many items. Even though they are supposed to substitute items, they usually won’t. I even called one time because we tried ordering lunch meat and chips and on the app it said “out of stock” with no substitution. So, I called and asked if there were no chips or lunch meat in the store and they ended up fulfilling our order with the exact items they claimed were out of stock!
If you shop in store, be ready to wait in line forever.
We drive to royal oak now which is immensely better than this location.
Called to price chicken for a future event and the woman just kept saying “chicken is fully booked” ??? I kept asking what she meant by that, are they no longer selling chicken? She just kept saying this. I finally said “you don’t even know the date of my event so how do you know you’re booked?” And then she asked the date with such attitude, I hung up. Never again.
If you are in a hurry then don’t stop here. Lines are ALWAYS backed up down the aisles. All those self checkouts and regular checkouts, and they’re lucky to have 5-6 open all together. Stinks like rotten fish back by the deli. Employees are rude.
Would ya’ll pay a living wage so you can staff your store? Lines are crazy long. Store is crazy gross. Do better, Kroger.
Staff is hustling their heart out, doing all they can. I add this context for fear that Kroger – like so many other retail giants – will deflect this 1-star review onto their already overworked staff.
This one-star review is directed at Kroger as a business. A giant, massively profitable business. In a better world, this hellish, minimal viable product you’ve created would be illegal. You’re a parasitic blight on the community.
