a year agoThe Maxwell House and staff were fantastic! Their partnership and collaboration for this beautiful event for my Mother turned out lovely. There is no other place I could have imagined celebrating my Mom’s birthday.The Maxwell House is just exquisite! The teams guidance, planning support, and client portal kept me organized and prepared ahead of the event. The number of compliments received on the venue alone was amazing!!! This venue is truly one of the best historical spots in Pasadena.
Rae, Stephanie, and staff were a treat to work with. They were awesome and ready to help me day of wherever needed!
Thank you again for helping bring this joyous occasion to life! I can’t wait to host my next event here!! If you have the opportunity to book here, go for it. You will not regret it!!
a month agoI had my wedding here a couple weeks ago. It’s a historical building with a beautiful staircase and lovely for pictures. It’s perfect for a wedding. I had 40 guests with the ceremony outside and reception indoors. Such a beautiful location and lots of parking. Hire Ink and Rose if you need a wedding coordinator, too.a year agoBeautiful venue for a wedding looking for a more intimate setting. The bride entered down stairs outside and the ceremony was outdoors. I would recommend it on a less than hot day for those wishing to book or an evening time when the sun is setting. They had a bar area, dance area, dining room and buffet room. They allowed my friend to place lights for personalization so they do allow some changes to the venue. Would definitely attend an event here again.4 months agoFrom our first look at pictures of this venue, we fell in love. The architecture and the history of this venue stand out compared to other venues we looked at, and the chance to support a non-profit with our wedding was an extra bonus. All the staff that helped us with everything from planning to the day of were wonderful and really helped the day go perfectly. Even with the threat of rain, we knew we had options for an indoor or a outdoor/indoor wedding. We also have to shout out their Preferred Vendors list as a great place to start building the rest of our wedding vendors.a year agoYWCA Glendale and Pasadena held a special year end reception for our funders, program partners, and board members at the Maxwell House. What a beautiful space to bring our community together – the location is stunning, with in and outdoor options and the much sought after free parking! A nice perk is having a COVID compliance officer to ensure that all public safety protocols are being met, including checking for vaccination status or negative tests. This allowed us to provide a very safe and welcoming environment for all. Working with the Maxwell House’s events team made everything seamless, smooth, and turn key. We plan to continue hosting events here as you would be hard pressed to find another venue like this in Pasadena!

3 weeks agoWhat an incredible gem! There are not many places like this left in the world. Hospitality plus! The thoughtful touches everywhere! The bed is so comfortable in the Garden Suite! I loved the jacuzzi tub and I checked in early to hang poolside! There is a beautiful breakfast spread with gorgeous china for tea service and dining. There is too many fabulous things to note! I hope to come back many times and bring my relatives too. Wow wow. I truly feel restored and inspired. Thank you for having us Bissell House !3 months agoDelightful Victorian April 2023 Had a great stay at The Bissell House! The house is beautiful and thoughtfully maintained. The rooms had all the creature comforts and some extras. The living room is like stepping back in time to a warm comforting home in the late 1800s. Enjoyed some delicious brownies with my tea upon arrival. Our morning host each day was Brian who is a fountain of information on the local area and served up a beautiful breakfast. I would highly recommend a stay! Written May 1, 20237 months agoThe house was darling and decorated so cute. The room was just what we had hoped for, the jacuzzi tub was great. The breakfast was excellent, different each day and the house is located near downtown so we could do all the activities we needed. We will be recommending the Bissell house to our friends ????11 months agoI had the loveliest solo staycation at the Bissell House. From the moment I stepped through the door, I truly felt at a home away from home! Exploring the beautiful grounds, reading in the library, and relaxing by the pool were all made even better by the plentiful complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks. I felt transported to a storybook world in the midst of the beautiful vintage furnishings of this historic place. The breakfast available every morning is a delicious, light yet satisfying quiche, croissant, and fruit with fresh squeezed orange juice. I almost didn’t feel the need to try out other breakfast spots nearby (and there are lot of great ones in Pasadena)! I had the privilege of staying in the Anna Bissell room, spacious yet cozy with the prettiest view. The bed is probably the most comfortable I’ve slept in outside of my own home. Also, despite there being a terrible heat wave this weekend, the individual AC in each room as well as downstairs kept the place so comfortable. I actually felt so sad to leave this place and will find every excuse to return! Thank you Will and Brian for making me feel so welcomed!6 months agoWe’ve stayed at the Bissell House 3 times since 2009, and our expectations are always exceeded. From the treats and drinks set up in the living and dining rooms, to the cozy and inviting atmosphere, to the friendliness of the hosts, to the delicious breakfast, we are never disappointed.

We’re on the 6th day of a 20 day stay here at this location, and the ENTIRE staff etc. couldn’t be better. Especially compared to the other hotels in the immediate area. In fact, I was quite surprised how much better THIS Super 8 is, compared to the 20 or 30 $ a night less IN THE AREA. Complimentary coffee, oatmeal etc. Well, well worth the price! Nice pool, family friendly.
This entire hotel is a fraud. They will charge you $200 a night to sleep with cockroaches. The staff is extremely rude and will make sure you are uncomfortable as possible. The male manager specifically is very creepy and tried to peek on my daughter when she was naked. They do not give any amenities that they promise. I wish I chose anywhere else. The biggest waste of money. Do not stay here if you value your life.
Let’s state the obvious, it is a Super 8. But given that, it’s a really nice Super 8. On Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. Felt safe, well lit outside. Rooms are obviously older and show some signs of deterioration, but are very clean and everything worked great. Appreciated that at least our ground floor room didn’t have the usual hotel room mystery carpet – the laminate floors were very clean. Continental breakfast was extremely limited – oatmeal packets, coffee, juice, yogurt, and granola bars – but nice to have and well stocked. Didn’t really interact with staff much so can’t comment either way.
We stayed in 3 chain hotels on this trip this was definitely the best. Clean large well laid out rooms with all the amenities. Decent Internet rooms were quiet. The beds could be a little softer but I slept fine.
I just checked in and the 2nd floor is COVERED IN COCKROACHES! When i endered my room the floor scattered when I turned the light on. Healthcode violation!! There seems to be something sticky on the floor and walls that they are attracted to, the floor is also covered in food crumbs and hair.
