3 months agoA beautiful old house with such interesting history. Our room was great, the communal space was comfortable, and the breakfasts were beyond thoughtful. I can’t imagine booking a room here knowing full well that it is a shared bathroom and then complaining about it. The house was booked full and we never had to wait for a restroom. We never so much as bumped into anyone on the way to take a shower. Speaking of the bathroom, it seemed to be freshly cleaned almost every time I used it. The huge shower even has a convenient bench. It was genuinely amazing how well kept all of the communal spaces were. Our room was spacious and pristine with extra pillows and bedding at the ready. Truly the most charming and unique place to stay on its own, but the highlight of our stay was absolutely Chris. He was so accommodating and kind. Chris truly went above and beyond in every aspect and we are honestly already talking about another trip just for the chance to chat again. I have never felt so welcomed staying in any hotel, inn, etc. as I did here thanks to Chris. He deserves far more than a good review for his diligent work and his warm conversations. This 125 year old mansion is gorgeous. The wood floors and trim throughout are stunning. Loved the leaded glass window, it adds such ambiance. From the moment you walk through the door you are treated like a long lost friend. Chris the manager is top notch and makes you feel totally welcome. This home is immaculate and extremely comfortable. We highly recommend this beautiful B&B and will make it a point to return.

We highly recommend Spencer House B&B! From reservations to check out, our hosts Steve & Lisa were amazing. We appreciate the time they spent to ensure our stay went well. From the initial tour to the delicious breakfast, we felt cared for. We stayed in “Mary’s Room” which was quaint and comfortable, however, we found the bathroom very small. Next time, we will reserve a larger room. Excellent location, especially if attending the Warner Theatre for a show, a lovely 15 minute walk through a beautiful and historic neighborhood. Overall a wonderful and memorable experience!
Great place to stay. The house is gorgeous, the rooms are clean, and the large porch with its flowers and ferns is beautiful. There are lots of shared spaces in the house for sitting and chatting or reading. There are lots of amenities, too, including a superb breakfast. The hosts are both helpful and delightful.
The house is within walking distance of several attractions, like the History Museum and the Maritime museum, as well as many others. We will definitely be staying there again the next time we visit Erie.
Hosts Steve and Lisa were very communicative! We appreciated having access to a common area fridge that was stocked with waters and sodas. The next morning’s breakfast was fabulous! Spencer house is located on “Millionaire’s Row,” surrounded by other gorgeous mansions! If we are back in Eerie, we will definitely be returning to Spencer House!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Spencer House! The house is absolutely beautiful! Steve and Lisa, the innkeepers, are excellent hosts. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was so delicious! And it’s a 10-minute easy drive to Presque Isle. We highly recommend giving them a try!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in the Spencer Room. The third floor room was spacious with a couch, coffee table, desk, chairs and bed. The bathroom had a large walk in shower. Each floor has a common sitting area with a small table facing the street with a window view. The front porch is great for enjoying the atmosphere of the neighborhood.
Steve and Lisa are a welcoming, down to earth couple. They are attentive to any needs, but otherwise unobtrusive. My wife’s gluten and lactose dietary needs were cared for. The breakfasts were delicious and generous. The Spencer House Guide app is useful and a nice touch.
The house is located on Millionaires Row, which is within walking distance to the lake, which we did. The houses and their gardens create an elegant and affluent environment. Parking is off the street behind the house. Getting around Erie was not difficult and the house is in proximity to the major attractions and nice places to eat.
The Spencer House is reasonably priced and provides very good value for the money.
