  I asked for a mid/low fade and received one of the worst haircuts of my life from Ashley.

  My bangs were chopped into pieces and one side is disproportionately angled in a way that makes it look like a chunk of my bangs is completely missing.

  The right side of my hair is cut like a high fade, compared to the left side, it looks extremely disproportionate. I would have to comb the hair on top of my head towards this side in order to cover it.

  This wasn’t a matter of getting a haircut/style I didn’t want. These were pure mess-ups that cannot be fixed without shaving my hair. They will also make it difficult for future haircuts due to the way it will grow out.

  As I was paying for my haircut, another barber took my payment and looked at the side of my hair that’s messed up and smirked— giving me the impression she knew her colleague messed up badly. Leaving someone with a haircut like this is extremely damaging to their self-esteem and it does not reflect the level of professionalism and expertise I expect from a shop that charges 45 dollars for a thirty minute dry cut and much more for additional services along with a standard 20% tip.

  This is the third haircut I’ve received from this shop, each time with a different barber, and it’s the third time I’ve left very disappointed.

  I called in asked if they could do a blended fade with sharp blade and she responded, “yes.” I showed up after work and man oh man I was so happy I walked into this place. They are very welcoming and they offer you beverages while you wait. The services they offer are top notch. Excellent excellent service they provide here. Gypsy, thank you so much for doing exactly what I asked for. You have definitely just gained another loyal client. The owner and the other barbers and hairdressers are so kind and friendly. I really enjoyed the vibe here.

  I had the best time with Andrew. He made my haircut enjoyable and entertaining. Great close shave and shaving the head. Excellent beard trim. This man can style beards and shave for sure. Was on vacation in New Orleans and happened to look up barbershops. Bears and bulls came up and I’m so glad it did. It added a whole different and wonderful experience to my trip. Thank you Andrew.   Abbey and her team are awesome. Gypsy did an amazing job on my haircut and styling. You can’t go wrong here guys. Awesome location, beautiful shop with Queens as barbers! Oh yea, I made the appointment with Alicia, for the day I went, it was birthday present to myself to go to Bulls and Bears.   I was only in NOLA for couple day, travelling Aussie, and I really needed to tame my beard that was getting a bit out of control.   I can’t imagine why anyone would ever leave a negative review for this place. I’ve been a regular patron here for almost a year now. Michael is now the only person who cuts my hair. Scheduling online is super convenient. Every time I walk in I am greeted warmly and offered a beer. Michael does a great job of incorporating what I’d like to do with my hair and making it look good.

  I am sad to write this review, because I’ve been to Modern Men a few times and they’re such great people. But Micheal CANNOT do a simple fade. It’s choppy and looks unfinished. Butchered my hair when I told him how important this haircut was to me. Safe to say I unfortunately will not be going back again.

  EDIT: I was contacted by staff at Modern Men and they were extremely understanding of the situation, and offered to refund the bad haircut. Really really kind management, wanted to work overtime to rectify the situation, and that type of initiative is more than I ever expected. I will be giving Modern Men another shot, just maybe with a different stylist.

  This is my first time trying to come here.

  I walked in without an appointment thinking I could just wait my turn like any barber shop. I live one block down the street and there is no signage saying it’s appointments only. They Denied me at the door and told me it’s appointments only and they are booked all day. They didn’t even ask me if I wanted to set an appointment; just flat out denied me. I don’t think I will ever try to come here again.
