Very fair prices. Service dogs allowed, and if you have a fur baby, not a service animal, they have a kennel area free of charge to use. But definitely an experience going thru the locks.

Informative tour exploring soo locks area and learning about the history of the locks, great lakes freighters, and local industry. If you want to get an up close view of a lock and go through it yourself, or if you’re fascinated by massive industrial infrastructure, then this is the tour for you. The tour goes through the American lock and then comes back the Canadian side. We shared the locks with the other tour company in town, Original Soo Locks Tours, and their boat was shortly behind us the whole time, so I don’t think there’s much, if any difference between the tours if you were debating which one to do.

The tour was not too crowded so there was ample opportunity to sit where you wanted or get up and walk around to get a different view. And speakers around the boat made it easy to hear the tour guide speaking.

Much of what you see can be seen from land and you can watch the lock operate from the shore nearby, so if you don’t want to spend the 2 hours on a boat then that is a nice option as well – you’ll just have to be your own guide!

We had a wonderful time of the tour! It was around 90 minutes and you really get a lot of information about the locks, river, and surrounding area. Everyone was so nice and helpful always willing to answer questions. So glad we stopped!

We had a nice trip and enjoyed the many views. Train ride was smooth enough for us. Seats were soft and comfy. Bring warm clothes there’s plenty of space on board. Food beer and snacks are available but many people brought a lot to eat with them. Check in at the desk for your seating. The right side of the train has the best views and consider that the train does not turn around for the return trip. Instead it reverses direction by moving the engine to the lower end. It’s a long day of this so be rested and enjoy

Our timing was perfect for the fall colors. It was spectacular! The only thing that would have made it better would have been for more water at the falls. For the best views the right side (opposite of boarding) is the best. I’d suggest getting to know the people on the left side and swap after stopping which just makes it fair for both parties. We managed to do the lookout, north and south Black Beaver falls and the Bridal Veil falls. If you’re in shape this is totally doable.

Three of us went on the train tour on October 13. The train was pretty busy and we couldn’t sit all together, one of us was sat across the aisle with some other people, but it didn’t detract from the experience. Pretty good views and voice over explains some of the history of the area which I appreciated. We brought our own food and drink but you can buy stuff from the snack cart on the train. I would have liked to have spent more time at the canyon, the train was there for 1.5 hours but it doesn’t really give you enough time to see everything there. I’m not sure if I would do it again but I would recommend it as an experience.

Beautiful trip! Wife and I went together and left the kids with the grandparents (smart move as it is way too long of ride for young kids) That being said, the long slow trip was very nice and relaxing for us. Passed a lot of beautiful lakes with camps and cabins along the way. Views in the canyon were stunning, especially with the nice weather the day we were there. We opted to wait until back on the train to have lunch and instead spent the time hiking to all the three main viewing points which was a hustle to do in the alloted time but fun. The train car we had was well used but still nice and clean and the food, while pricey, was actually pretty good. Only complaint was the Intercom system was not working well which was a little annoying but all in all we had a fun and relaxing day trip away from the kids.

The ride was a bit long but comfortable. I think it would be better if they saved some of the tour info for the return trip. The canyon and ride was beautiful, not just the colours of the leaves but also the lakes and mountains. When you get to the canyon move quickly if you want to see both of the Waterfalls and the lookout. I believe another 30 mins would be helpful. The monitors on my train didn’t work very well. Windows were clean and cross your fingers you get some friendly guests. Sears are 2 by 2 and get there early if you want to sit with your party. There was good on board. One small issue is no electricity while that move the engine. I think a generator would solve the problem of cash only. Bring an umbrella just in case.

Top Travel Agent Alternatives in Sault Ste. Marie

A travel agency is a private retailer or public service that provides travel and tourism-related services to the general public on behalf of accommodation or travel suppliers to offer different kinds of travelling packages for each destination. Travel agencies can provide outdoor recreation, arranging logistics for luggage and medical items delivery for travellers upon request, public transport timetables, car rentals, and bureau de change services. Travel agencies can also serve as general sales agents for airlines that do not have offices in a specific region. A travel agency's main function is to act as an agent, selling travel products and services on behalf of a supplier. They are also called Travel Advisors. They do not keep inventory in-hand unless they have pre-booked hotel rooms or cabins on a cruise ship for a group travel event such as a wedding, honeymoon, or other group event.

The Biggest Travel Agent in United States

In Sault Ste. Marie, there are several alternative options to traditional travel agents that are gaining popularity among travelers. These alternatives offer convenience, flexibility, and often lower prices. Here are the top three alternatives:

1. Online Travel Agencies (OTAs)

Online travel agencies have become increasingly popular in recent years. They offer a wide range of travel services, including flights, accommodation, and vacation packages. OTAs like Expedia, Booking.com, and TripAdvisor allow travelers to compare prices, read reviews, and make bookings all in one place. Many OTAs also offer customer support, making it easy to resolve any issues or make changes to bookings.

  • Pros:
    • Convenient one-stop-shop for all travel needs
    • Ability to compare prices and read reviews
    • 24/7 customer support available
  • Cons:
    • May not always offer the most competitive prices
    • Limited personalization and customization options
    • May not have access to exclusive deals or discounts

2. Travel Aggregator Websites

Travel aggregator websites, such as Kayak and Skyscanner, gather information from multiple sources to provide users with a comprehensive overview of available travel options. These websites allow travelers to compare prices across various airlines, hotels, and car rental companies. They also provide additional features, such as price alerts and flexible date options, to help users find the best deals.

  • Pros:
    • Ability to compare prices across multiple platforms
    • Additional features to find the best deals
    • User-friendly interface and easy navigation
  • Cons:
    • Booking process may redirect to external websites
    • May not always have access to exclusive promotions
    • Limited customer support options

3. Direct Booking with Airlines and Hotels

Another popular alternative is to book directly with airlines and hotels. Many airlines and hotel chains offer their own online platforms, allowing travelers to make reservations and manage their bookings directly. By cutting out the middleman, travelers can often find exclusive deals, loyalty rewards, and additional perks.

  • Pros:
    • Access to exclusive deals, loyalty rewards, and perks
    • Direct communication with the service provider
    • Ability to personalize and customize bookings
  • Cons:
    • May require more effort to compare prices and options
    • Limited options if the preferred airline or hotel is not available
    • May need to contact multiple providers for different travel needs

These three alternatives to travel agents offer convenience, flexibility, and often better prices. Travelers in Sault Ste. Marie can choose the option that best suits their preferences and travel needs.
