- Reviews:I actually called Mr. Rooter for a gas line hookup for my new dryer, after Home Depot delivered the dryer on Monday but their install crew was not available for a week. Instead, Mr. Rooter sent Derek over at 8 am the next morning, and within 20 minutes we had a bid to install our dryer and bring the gas line and vent up to code. He also inspected the rest of our plumbing and was surprised our water heater was >20 years old- gave us a very competitive bid for a larger, newer water heater. Derek was very knowledgeable and professional and even took the time to walk me through the pros and cons of a tank vs. tankless water heater. We agreed to the bid and they fit in all the work today! I could hardly tell Derek was here working, he was quiet and cleaned the whole area when complete. I will definitely be calling Mr. Rooter for my next plumbing jobs- I have some small jobs I’ve been putting off but feel comfortable getting bids for these now!By Cary Percy (4 months ago)We worked with Derek and Craig and they were fantastic! I wanted to hire a professional team to cap off the gas line for peace of mind. Kris and his partner came out the same day with no extra fee for that. They were very friendly, on time and gave me options. They showed me pictures and videos of what they had done when they were finished. I would recommend and hire them again. - Reviews:Overall, felt like a bait and switch with the $94 drain clearing “deal” add a $75 service fee and extra $94 per hour past the first hour. They took 4 hours and we thought they had fixed the problem. We did major cleaning once the tech left because we didn’t want to be charged the hourly rate and sewage had sprayed and leaked everywhere. Not only are we backed up again 30 days later, but it is coming through the sewage clear out pipe that was “sealed”. Now we are leaking sewage there, and it’s coming up all the drains. Called to see if there is a “guarantee” of any work done considering this was never an issue in the 8 months we lived here and now it’s happened twice. Was told no, and the technician said he believed it was caused by grease because his line spun so fast it snapped. He repaired the line and kept going. He was a nice guy and called superiors for help when he was stumped. I called discount plumber back and they said his report said it was a possible root problem. That is hard for me to believe as I asked the tech 3+ times and not once did he suggest roots may be the issue. Included photos of the mess we were left to clean and bleach. Two stars only due to the kindness of the tech.By Katie Gundle (a year ago)Had a drain clog that could not be accessed to run clean-out. 4 feet of metal pipe was removed and replaced with pvc pipe with clean-out. Line was then cleared. In addition to the base charge of $169 for drain clear and 50 feet clean-out, the placement of 4 feet of pvc with clean-out access cost an additional $300, for a total of $469. A non-discount plumbing company has stated this should not have been in excess of $250. Total job was accomplished within one hour, on-site. Response from owner indicates can’t compete with unlicensed handyman or small plumbing companies. The lower amount indicated was from very reputable plumbing company which I should have used and will use next time I have a need. They were exceptionally kind, very helpful at explaining what was happening and what they were doing and what needed to be done. They were very friendly very respectful of the environment and just really kind people. I would highly recommend this company. I called this morning and was able to get it the same day service. They were wonderful. I strongly recommend anyone try them I would call them back again.By Rachel Rich (in the last week)I made of the HUGE mistake of dumping a big batch of chicken soup down my garbage disposal on a Saturday afternoon. As soon I I did this I knew there was a problem. I tried to handle the clog myself, but could get the snake that I had deep enough, so knew it was time to call in the professionals. I search the Internet for a plumbing company who could come out and take care of the issue over the weekend without ASTRONOMICAL emergency fees. This is when I found Discount Plumbers. They advertised clearing the drain for $94 as well as a $75 service charge. I was a little apprehensive on what the additional fine print might be, but thought I’d give them a call. I reached out at 9:30 on a Saturday night and received a call on Sunday morning from William that he had one more appointment available for Sunday afternoon. I confirmed the cost and booked the appointment. Unfortunately, I received a call around 12:30 stating that they had an emergency come up and kindly asked if they could reschedule for Monday morning. I told them I understand emergencies and that wouldn’t be a problem. Monday morning I received a call from Sage stating that he would be here by 8:20. He was right on time. We review the issue with the clogged drain and reviewed the pricing. He did indicate that if it took longer than an hour, he would need to charge an hourly rate of around $90 (can’t remember the exact amount). Sage did state that it should only take him about 45 minutes. Off he went to take care of the mistake I will never make again. 30-35 minutes later he was done snaking the clog, put the plumbing back together and the water was draining perfectly! Sage was very professional, bright and super friendly! I would recommend Discount Plumbing to anyone! They were FANTASTIC to work with!By Chrissy Tauber (4 months ago)I paid Discount Plumbing $598 on 8/18/22 to fix a leak where my garden hose connected to the hose reel in my garage. Their plumber put in a connector that leaked (1st picture). The same plumber returned, apologized, & said stores were closed & he couldn’t buy the proper part. (He never told me this when he repaired it; nor did he return with the proper part.) I had him return on 9/7/22 to fix his leak; he said he put in a “rotary connector” that “would work.” On 9/26 I first used the hose and had a massive leak. It flooded the garage and 6 baskets of groceries nearby. The new connector was NOT “rotary” –the only rotation was my $70 metal-clad hose twisting at its end (middle picture). The manager promised to send a master plumber to assess the work and refund me if it was not up to standard. I then saw their response (below): “they never did my job.” Last picture is their receipt for “leaky garden hose” dated 9/7/22. UPDATE 9/28/2022: I spoke to the manager about their false report. He apologized, said it was a mistake, canceled the master plumber visit, and refunded my $598 on the spot. This place gets 1 star for the absolute abomination of an estimate. The job was to connect the already installed garbage disposal to the reaming plumbing after I installed a new sink. The plumber looked under the sink for 30 secs and came up with cost of $731 for labor and parts will be extra so it will come out to about $800 total. The plumber was confused that I thought the price was to high and mentioned it would take him 2 hours to finish the job and he was giving me a $25 discount for having the garbage disposal already installed. So if you’re comfortable paying $365.50 an hour Rooter Router is the place for you, but in my case I sent him packing and reluctantly payed the $69 estimate fee.
Here is a photo of the job I needed done. I’m pretty sure any plumber would find this to be one of the easiest jobs they have ever had to do, and the only way to justify an $800 price tag is if the new pipes were lined with gold.
Amazing service. I was able to schedule online and got a text before they showed up. My service tech was very friendly and listen to my issues. We discussed the cost upfront before stating the work. I let him do his thing and before you know it he was as done and testing to make sure it drains. The sound of water rushing down the drain never never made me happier. I was super pleased with the service and how helpful the service tech was. I’ve used them in the past and will continue to use as I have not had a bad experience yet.
Good and quick service, Brian was nice and worked efficiently. I was able to easily get a next day appointment and they came early in the provided window, which was great. However, the service way more expensive than I had anticipated. I needed a main line unclogging that was backing up from 2 sinks and it cost $430.
Brian was on time and very helpful. He was able to get out to me in the morning after calling at 10pm the night before. Explained everything that could be wrong and let me know what was going on every step of the way. Gave me great advice on preventative care! Would highly recommend!!!
Expensive!!! First the good: I really appreciated the prompt response and professionalism of the master plumber who came to my home to repair a busted pipe. I’d highly recommend him as a person and the work he did.
Now my objection: He said the work was complicated and gave me a bid for replacing the broken pipe at $1200. I accepted the bid since I would have no water in the house until it was fixed and it was already the afternoon. In the end, it took him an hour and 15 minutes to do the job. I was shocked that the cost could be so high for a little more than an hour’s work. He said the cost of the job is standard pricing and is not set on the amount of time it took. It would have cost the same if it took him 4 hours instead of 1. He said that any job that involves copper stars at $800. Wow. I wish that I’d been willing to go a night without water and call someone else to do the job. To be clear, I really liked the plumber. Great guy. But I think Roto-rooter’s prices are too high if their master plumbers are bringing in $1000/hour.
