- Reviews:I had the most pleasant experience with El the piercer. I am usually so nervous and they made me feel so calm. They were professional and informative while making me feel comfortable. Their jewelry recommendations were so helpful. I trust them with my life!By Marina Van Winkle (5 months ago)Brought my 7 year old to have her ears pierced & it was a great experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left. ALL the staff was so kind and amazing! Explained everything thoroughly, I didn’t feel one ounce of mistrust at any point. Francheka was amazing, she made my daughter feel very comfortable, I will for sure be coming back for myself ! Everything was clean, and sterile, they take sanitation very serious and I truly love that! Cannot wait to come back!By Crys Mata (a month ago)I had a last minute consultation about a piercing job done elsewhere. My nose piercing was super irritated. In as little as 10 minutes, Sarah in the Seattle venue, was able to help size my piercing correctly. It’s been about 3 days now, and the small bump forming from my previous piercing has completely disappeared! Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable, and I had a great appointment 🙂By Erin Cumbess (6 months ago)Deep Roots shops are the most reliable and trustworthy piercing shops that I’ve personally encountered in/around Seattle. They have an excellent standard for their piercers, and everyone I’ve ever met between this and the Lynnwood locations have just been the coolest, kindest, and most accepting people no matter who you are. This is not to put down other shops or piercers because I know there are other amazing ones in Seattle! But I’ve been getting pierced here about 2x/year for four years, and they have never come close to letting me down. I’ve referred multiple friends and coworkers to them who have also had consistently great experiences. The level of trust I have for them has even unintentionally helped with my trypanophobia, which is life changing 🙂 Thank you to everybody at Deep RootsBy Cat Pace (4 months ago)So professional and safe I refuse to get piercings elsewhere. Friendly and even fit you in whenever possible if no appointment, though on the busiest days not always possible. They’ve also helped me remove and replace piercings for situations in which it was needed, and give expert guidance on healing. Extremely friendly and welcoming and supportive. I only have experience with ear piercings however, and I’ve never expanded the piercings, but they’re legitimate and expert piercings with appropriate gauge.By Claud T (3 months ago)

- Reviews:I am so so in love with this studio and Alex! The whole team is so welcoming and warm hearted. Alex does an amazing job, his work is gorgeous, and he is so so kind. They did a phenomenal job taking my ideas and turning it into a beautiful half sleeve. I will be back to continue my sleeve???? pictures to show how accurately he captured my babiesBy erynn ohara (7 months ago)I went in to add to an existing tattoo from another artist (for reference to the pictures – I only had the broom when I went in) I got my tattoo at Dzul with Alejandro back in October. I took so long to write a review because I’ve been trying to forget about the whole experience, but people should be cautious and aware of this business before going in. I went in a month in advance to get a quote and discuss a design. My original idea was quoted much higher than I wanted to pay ($1200+), and I expressed that. In order to schedule an appointment you have to put down a non-refundable deposit, which I decided to do because it’s almost impossible to get a spot with an artist these days (first mistake-take the time to find the right artist even if it means you’re waiting months to get in). The next day, I emailed them a new/much smaller (about 1/4 of what I originally went in for) design and requested an updated quote. After 2 weeks of no one reaching out and only 2 weeks before my scheduled tattoo appointment, I phoned them myself for the quote. The lady on the phone quoted me at $350 and I thought that’s perfect. I did an art review the next week via Skype and the design wasn’t even finished for the review so there was little to discuss, another waste of time. I was also very disappointed that not only do they create all of their designs on the computer (no hand drawings), but the person doing your tattoo is not the same person designing the art. Both of these aspects makes your art lack a lot of creativity and intimacy. I prefer to work with the artist on the design and have them put their own touch on it, but instead, they just took my drawing and did an almost exact recreation of it on the computer, and that was the piece (remember – no refunds on the deposit). The day of the appointment, I had a 3 hour time slot (their suggestion, not mine), and since the art wasn’t finished on my review date, a couple of adjustments needed to be made to it. Instead of doing this right away so I could get started, they helped everyone else that came in after me. Not only that, but then the artist decided to take an hour break so after 1.5 hours, I finally got started. An hour later, we were done. Going up to pay, and they were charging me now $900, saying the lady who gave me the $350 quote didn’t update the system so no one knew about it. The artist and I’m assuming part owner, was in the background listening saying he wouldn’t have even touched me for that price. The lady that helped me tried to play the “he’s a professional, all of the details and line work he did is what the price covers”. I honestly couldn’t believe it, but this company completely robbed me. Not only that, but the line work is absolutely shotty (too thick in some areas, too thin others) and already fading and there’s very minimal details in it. I would 100% not recommend this company unless you’re looking for something very basic and you double, triple check that you are being quoted properly before going in and getting started. Because there are so many people working at the front desk handling the art and quotes that things obviously get lost easily and they take no responsibility for any mistakes and actually care so little for the customers, just what’s in your wallet.By Rebeccah S (5 months ago)Dealing with this company is absolutely infuriating. Not only did they try and refuse to do any colour on me because I am black (right at first sight), I had to prove too them that my skin already takes colour with previous tattoos done. Despite my various budgets none of the artists where really interested in giving me something that I fully wanted or having the decency too tell me that they didn’t even want too do my pieces at all. I had to pay for a cover up, colour, and retouch from a different shop; due to the fact that no one cared to give me a decent tattoo in the first place. I requested a conversation with the shop owners-in regarding my awful service received there-and practically three weeks later: after having to prove to them that I actually got work from the place (because they buried my information and couldn’t find it), talking to a new receptionist who made me figure everything out on my own instead of just finding a time in which the owners could speak to me like I initially asked, I still haven’t gotten that conversations, and am fed up. For a shop that is advertised as diverse they sure are discriminatory against black people and they will not tattoo melanated skin unless it’s in black and gray only. The receptionist are incompetent, belligerent, have no decent social skills whatsoever, and are agonizing to deal with. Don’t even bother getting work from this place if you’re a minority and especially if you’re black. This place should be ashamed of themselves; if I could give them 0 stars I for sure would. *In the photo set: the first image is what I walked out with freshly done (although it was nothing that I wanted, and certainly not in colour despite my budget), the second image is how bad it healed down (something I expressed to the artist and receptionist that I couldn’t solely hold onto just line work), and the third image is the touchup/correction/colour ( if you can’t see the mistake look at the fact that the guy character actually has a shirt instead of just some random lines)*By Akirah Avi (a month ago)Both artists are extremely gifted and my tattoos came out pristine, however what really blew me away was the process leading up to the tattoos. The digital artists are literal wizards as they took the sloppy ideas I gave them, and turned them into something clean and professional, better than what i had imagined. They were patient with my tweaks to their designs and we had great talks discussing ideas. That process and their skill in the digital design world is what really set the foundation for my tattoos to turn out badass. Then, obviously both Jacob and Alex are extremely talented, so the tattoos came out flawless. Their attention to detail was absurd, and I had no idea tattoos could look this detailed and realistic. I actually had to get my older tattoos touched up by them to elevate the rest of my ink to their level of work. Dzul really made me feel welcome and at home. All employees are hospitable and friendly- and in my opinion this place sets the standard for tattooing.By Cameron Lee (a month ago)Unprofessional, bait and switch, money hungry. Extremely disappointment in this shop. I was quoted back in December for a piece with a range $1400-1800. Jacob spent 4 hours tattooing me before he decided to mention that he thought a price increase was in order. Told me 15 minutes before the shop closed that my tattoo would be roughly $1000 more than what I was quoted. That I would have to come back in another day and pay $300 for a station setup fee in addition to the rest of the tattoo quote he made up as I was sitting in the chair. Also, a couple of ladies walked in to get a a penny sized tattoo on their ears, alex charged them over $300. Just wild. They take advantage of their location in the city to charge outrageous rates for basic work. I’d been financing this tattoo for a while because I was willing to spend a little bit more to have a capable artist tattoo me. This image that I had of this shop being a professional one was proved wrong by multiple accounts. Artist showed up an hour and a half after my schedule appointment time, took a ridiculous amount of breaks, which accounted for at least an hour/maybe 1.5h of my session. He proceeded to tell me he had never even looked at my tattoo design until I had arrived that day. The shops complete lack of preparation and professionalism should not have fallen back on my wallet. I wrote an email discussing my dissatisfaction a week after my appointment back in February and the shop has made no effort of acknowledgment or reconciliation/apology in the past month. The shop owners have a very bad reputation amounts young artists and other local shops. Stay far away from this shop. They’ll screw you over.By Odessa Bingham (2 months ago)

Wonderful tattoo and piercing parlor! Kali did a fantastic job of making the process, quick, easy, and enjoyable! The selection of jewelry options (both for starter jewelry while healing and for healed piercings) is fantastic and they have some really beautiful pieces in an enormous range of sizes, styles, and materials. I was able to get a piercing appointment within just a few days of when I initially called and was greeted on time and led through the entire process with multiple opportunities to ask questions.
Please consider Slave to the Needle for your next body mod!
I had my nipples pierced by Chris yesterday and it was a great experience. He was extremely professional and efficient at his craft. Very clean and sanitary. He made me feel comfortable and I trusted him completely. I am already in love with my piercings and I’m so happy I had such an awesome experience because of Chris. 10/10 I highly recommend!!!
I have had a few body piercings before but I have to say without a doubt that the best experience was today with Chris. I had a couple of piercings replaced and my naval pierced and from start to finish it was by far the best I have had.
He was incredibly knowledgeable, took time to explain who he was, how long he had worked in the field and where he had been. He was also super friendly and made me few so comfortable with the whole process.
He took a lot of time to make sure that I had the piercing done in the best location, jewelry size and he marked, checked and rechecked position.
I can’t say it was pain free but the skill and speed with which he did it and the way he talked through the procedure it was as close to pain free as possible.
The whole thing has just made me want even more piercings!!
Thanks is Chris for going way above and beyond with your skill, customer service and attention to detail.
I’ve had 4 piercings done here now – all by professional and designated piercers. These folks know what they’re doing, from placing the jewelry on your body in a way that’s aesthetically pleasing to helping you determine the right jewelry and size gauge. I have not once doubted their skills in body modification, and I will be referring everyone I know to get work done by this shop.
I got a very spur of the moment nostril piercing from Chris and it was great! Very calm environment you could tell he has amazing skill because he went through the inside of my nose to go through the thinner part of my cartilage. Super knowledgeable and kind! Will definitely be back!
