- Reviews:Wife and I decided to make our first visit to Hanaya after she discovered their happy hour advertised online. The prices were almost too good to be true, so I went in expecting small portions/half rolls, or small pours on the drinks. I was absolutely delighted to be proven wrong! Between us we has 5 (full-size!) rolls along with some agedashi tofu, and let me tell you that they were absolutely delicious! The fish was high quality, and the overall flavor was outstanding! The available happy hour drink selection was good as well. The service was also prompt, courteous, and friendly. Anh, the sushi chef, is masterful at his craft and makes us feel special, welcome and appreciated. He always remembers our preferences which keeps getting broader from his recommendations. Is everything so expensive that they have to skip my wasabi too? not only the amount , the taste is terrible as well. The fish taste like they have been outside overnight. You can’t sense a single bit of freshness in the fish at all. And the rice? Stick on my teeth like glue. Definitely been outside a long time. Definitely not going again. We had to wait 15 min over the estimated time which we accepted because it was a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy and disorganized when I went it. I revived my cooked food but not our sushi. I literally had to grab the manager to get the sushi packed so I can leave. The food was good until I started to notice multiple hairs in the food. - Reviews:Had recently had lunch at China Island Asian Grill. During our meal we found the Orange Chicken and General Tsao’s Chicken lunch specials to be pretty good. These are not dishes we can often find in Hong Kong so make for fun orders to try when in the States. Plates were fairly large portion, served with soup, rice and egg roll. I ordered the Beef Udon noodles with medium spice. It’s rare to see savory and spicy not overpower one another and be in perfect balance. The onions and snow peas that came with the dish were perfectly cooked to have both a nice crunch and yet show their natural flavors, as well as the ones they were cooked in. Even if they were frozen, i don’t care, they were absolutely great. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and very nice. I found one of my new favorite spots in Denton. Oh, and as a bonus. The presentation is beautiful, the egg rolls crisp, and our favorite waiter, John, takes great care of his customers. As soon as we pull up, John gets a table ready with iced tea and usual accompaniments! We have favorites, that are delicious and mine are modified with safe gluten free ingredients. The owner who is a lovely, sweet man comes over with a drink that he especially makes for my husband! 10/10 would absolutely go back! The service and food were top notch! The waitress was attentive and delivered everything promptly. The hibachi fried rice was perfect. The gyoza was good but it’s hard to split 5 pieces between two people, would be better in an even number. We ordered several rolls, my favorite was the Las Vegas roll and the red snapper sashimi, but all were wonderful. I especially enjoyed their fresh wasabi, I had never before seen a place serve it. And the cold apple saki was delicious, though served in a wine glass rather than the traditional sake set.
Looks great, but there was not much flavor. The steak had no seasoning at all, just a burnt taste. The sushi was plated beautifully, but it was pretty bland over all. Nice atmosphere apart from some annoying guests. The Kabuki roll (not pictured) was good.
Pretty good hibachi. I think it is better than the previous one we went. But because they only had one chef we had to sit next to a large group and eat according to their schedule which is after their sushi appetizers. Clean and good teppanyaki place.
The service was impeccable. It was my nieces Birthday and after the amazing dinner show they took a Polaroid of our family and brought back a birthday card with the photo inside. It made her night so special! Can’t wait to go back!
After reading the reviews, I had high expectations from this restaurant, but may be for the people who are trying the hibachi restaurant for the first time this is a good option.
I have tried hibachi restaurants in other cities too, this restaurant is strictly fine when compared with my previous experience.
Avocado spring rolls were average and the sauce that came with them is tasteless. The main course’s rice was stale, yum-yum sauce was strictly good, ginger sauce was good.
Staff were nice, the setup and environment is unique and great. It just the food itself is just average, flavorless. For the high price paid the quality and taste of the food, don’t live up.
