I have been a loyal customer of this store for a few years now, and Kroger overall for my entire life, going to the location on the Hilltop in Columbus, later Hilliard, and now Hebron/Buckeye Lake. I rarely write 1-star reviews (check my history). However, after my recent experience with this store, I am left with no choice. It all started when I was purchasing two Home Depot gift cards, so I could get my fuel points, which Kroger heavily advertises. I was going to buy a new dishwasher for around $750, and a few accessories, so I figured I’d go ahead and pick up two $500 Home Depot gift cards. I picked them up and went to the register. I walked up to the cashier, who was named Caylee, and who advised me that they had to be rung up separately due to the amounts. Ok, no big deal. Rung up the first one, paid. Rung up the second one, paid. But, wait! She told me the second card wouldn’t activate…and she didn’t know why. After getting another worker, and the manager on duty, no one could figure out why…(the activation notice said “ALREADY ACTIVATED…this will come up later so hold that thought). I did not understand what was going on, but I did know that I got charged for BOTH $500 because my bank’s app alerted me as such. Upon telling them this, they said ok, they would have to refund me the $500 and then we could activate a new (different) card. I said okay, I will take the refund, but because it didn’t post immediately (the manager said it could be up to a FEW DAYS!), I didn’t have enough in my account to cover another $500 transaction. So, I would have to wait until the refund came through, or just forego the second $500 gift card and fuel points. No big deal. Fast forward a few days later, when I go to use the gift card on my purchase…it says the card number is invalid. Upon further investigation, it appears that this card was never activated! Then, upon further investigation, it turns out that the activation receipt I was given does NOT match up to the numbers on the gift card. It didn’t take me long to realize what had happened…Caylee had given me the WRONG card, the one that was actually not activated, and had kept (or thrown away) the one that DID have my $500 on it. At this point, I was upset, but I figured a quick trip over to the store would resolve this. After all, the store and its employees had made this error that cost me $500, not me, so I am sure they will resolve it quickly! Boy, was I wrong. I will spare you a lot of details, but my trip to the store was totally unhelpful, and the management team of Josey and Drew, while polite, did absolutely nothing to show any value of me as a customer. They basically told me there was nothing they could do, and that I needed to call 1-800-KROGERS. Okay, well, at this point I am not happy at all. But, I figure that a call to corporate will resolve this issue, as the store was in error, obviously, and they have taken my money. Well, over TWO hours of phone calls later (95% of which involved being on-hold, including over 45 minutes straight), they REFUSE to resolve my issue whatsoever. Get this…they told me to contact Home Depot! What do they have to do with this? Your cashier messed up twice, not only in charging me in error, but also giving me a gift card that had no value on it! What does, what even COULD the Home Depot do about this? They did nothing wrong! Aside from not wanting to sit on the phone for another TWO HOURS like with Kroger, I actually expect them to tell me they cannot do anything. They were not at fault! I am at my wits end. Budget is tight, and $500 is actually our monthly grocery budget. Why would I continue to shop at a store that, and I can’t think of any better term, STOLE my money, and refuses to return it? I only have a couple of options left, and I will be filing a lawsuit in small claims court of Licking County to have my money which they took from me, returned. I hate that it has come to this, but what else can you do? The Kroger Company, you have lost a lifetime customer and a brand loyalist, over $500. 🙁
Hebron Kroger is good. I like to stop here on way home from Columbus. Great selection on prepared foods. Great produce. Well shopped store so things are fresh. Health and beauty area is huge. I always find what I need. Staff are so nice.
If no stars was an option I would definitely have selected it. At 9:45 I walked into the store with my nephews to get food for breakfast real quick and I was greated at the door by a older woman that told me I had 5 minutes to get what I needed and told me I better hurry up. If it was that big of a deal that you wanted to close the store so quickly so you can rush home you should have locked to doors sooner. I will gladly drive further out of my way from here on out to another Kroger. This location is a joke and super unprofessional
Grocery PICK UP is terrible! They never substitute stuff they just don’t give it to you at all. & every time I come here to pick up groceries I’m waiting longer then 20 minutes to even get them because they never have your order ready. They have hours to put your order together. Absolutely terrible and management needs to step in and fix this problem. ASAP.
DO NOT PLACE PICK UP ORDER, they will take way longer than it would if u would just go in and shop it’s absolutely ridiculous, it’s happened at least 4 times I’ve given them lots of chances to be better , just keeps getting worse I’m officially done with Krogers pick up . Pretty sad when Walmart is a lot more efficient and gets the job done . Krogers employees on the inside are very friendly, I will say that I will 100% just go in to shop. Hope this stops u from wasting lots of time like me!
