  1. Don’t schedule eye surgery if you’re not local! Went for pre-op appointment. At end of appointment doctor indicated he had no idea I was there for surgery pre-op. I scheduled the surgery 9 months ago and the doctor cancelled 3 days before 1st procedure. Scheduler suggested I go ahead with one lens replacement and just deal with un-corrected double vision for an additional 4 weeks until the doctor was available again. No problem for scheduler or doctor if I couldn’t drive, read, or do many other things. My husband scheduled vacation to drive me. We had hotels that had to be canceled. Plans for an international travel had to be cancelled. No problem for Kellogg Eye Center!

  2. I have been consistently been kept waiting more than an hour after appointment time for my child to be seen. There was never any explanation or apology offered. This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional.

  3. Like others have noted, the scheduling system is entirely broken. Routine check-up appointments do not need 2.5 hours in a waiting room (it would have been longer, we gave up due to other commitments scheduled 3 hours after supposed appointment). It is impossible for this length of a wait to be a surprise to staff yet there was no mention and no communication of any kind. Not a recommended location for pediatric care.

  4. I went to the Kellogg Eye Center after receiving a recommendation from a highly regarded hospital in Maryland that I have cataract surgery for both eyes and additional surgery to insert a tube to reduce interocular eye pressure. Dr. Shah at Kellogg recommended a relatively simple outpatient laser treatment that was quick and seems to have worked. I’m glad I got a second opinion from the Kellogg Center.

  5. I had two physicians who helped me. Rachana and James Z were absolutely fantastic. Both had excellent bedside manner and made my experience so pleasant. They were very knowledgeable and educated me on everything I needed to know. Best medical experience I’ve had in a very long time. Outstanding!

The Most Common Eye Problems and Their Symptoms

Our eyes are vital to experiencing the world, but they can encounter various issues that affect vision and overall eye health. Here’s a brief rundown of some common eye problems:

  1. Refractive Errors: Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism cause blurred vision and can be corrected with glasses or contacts.
  2. Cataracts: Clouding of the eye’s lens leads to blurry vision, often treatable with surgery.
  3. Glaucoma: Increased eye pressure damages the optic nerve, potentially leading to blindness. Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection.
  4. Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD): Affects central vision in older adults, leading to difficulty in tasks like reading.
  5. Diabetic Retinopathy: A complication of diabetes that damages the retina, causing vision loss.
  6. Dry Eye Syndrome: Insufficient tears cause discomfort, redness, and irritation.
  7. Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Inflammation of the eye’s surface, often caused by infections or allergies.
  8. Blepharitis: Eyelid inflammation causing redness and itching.

Remember to seek professional help from ophthalmologists if you experience any persistent eye-related symptoms. Regular eye exams are essential for maintaining clear vision and eye health.

Had cataracts removed from both eyes by Dr. Sensoli. He is a super nice guy. I had a great experience with him and the entire staff! I can see great again! I would (and have) highly recommended him and Specialty Eye Institute. Thank you for restoring my vision!

Dr. Sensoli is great, but a particular staff member in the Chelsea office does not inspire confidence. Long wait at followup appointment in Ann Arbor before doctor was available. Discharge nurse in Jackson gave incorrect information, subsequently overridden by two doctors. In short, the support staff in this operation appear to need more training.

Check-in at the Ann Arbor office begins with a driver license scan. As one who is seriously concerned about privacy in the age of technology, I don’t appreciate that system.

Had another great experience here today. Dr Kevin Vandenbosch was very thorough examining my eyes and explaining the findings from my exam and my current plan of care. I would highly recommend him to friends and family.
