Everyone here is so friendly I’ve never been treated anything less than perfect here. The receptionists are so welcoming and genuine and they crack jokes with you and make you feel welcome. All the staff are always having fun and wearing smiles. The exam was very thorough I had a scratched eye and Dr K took care of me. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. My husband brought our daughters in for their appointments and after their exams the optician called my 15-year-old to her counter and laid out three pairs of glasses (none of which she my daughter even cared for) and told her to pick a pair. My daughter reluctantly picked a pair and the optician had her sign a consent to purchase the glasses. I’m not sure what process is happening here that minors are being told to sign purchase agreement paperwork, but it seems incredibly reckless. My husband intervened at this point (he’d never been included in the conversation and was busy with our two other children when this was happening), and told the optician that he wouldn’t be purchasing frames at this time and the optician responded that once the order was submitted that we would be responsible to pay for the frames- regardless of who signed the contract. Even if that person was a 15-year-old. She then had an incredibly rude demeanor for the duration of the visit.
I really hope this was a misunderstanding because the rest of the staff is fantastic, but it definitely felt very predatory, and is a seriously questionable business practice. Just make sure you pay attention to whether they’re trying to get your kids to buy frames without consent if you bring them here.
Edit- after reading the “owners” response to myself and to anyone else who has made a less than 5-star review I’ve decided to subtract a star. There’s no reason why a business would need my 15-year- old to sign paperwork to purchase frames and I’m not sure why I would take the word of an openly hostile employee on Google over that of my daughter and husband, but I appreciate the owner calling them liars. The hostile and accusatory way that this business handles complaints will eventually come back to bite them. I would also encourage anyone who is iffy about this business to look into previous 2-4 star reviews and take note of the owner sharing personal health information of their patients – a HIPAA violation. Thank you to the “owner” for encouraging me to find another provider!
