My father was referred to University Eye Specialists by our local eye hospital. We have visited 3 of their offices and have received great care at them all.

We have to drive a little over an hour to get to the closest office. But, the doctors were able to restore a little of my dads vision with a cornea transplant.

I originally saw Dr. Glatt in Aug but he referred me over to Dr. Harris for another opinion. Most of the staff I encountered on my first and second visit were wonderful.

The negative review is almost entirely based on my experiece with this doctor. Dr. Harris seemed frustrated from the moment we met. He stated he was unsure why I was there and said to give him a moment to review Dr Glatts notes. After he read them he stated again he still wasn’t sure why I was there and asked me what my problems were. I explained and he seemed dismissive. He looked at my eyes and asked if I ever considered losing weight. I told him I had lost 60lbs since April but still working on it. He stated that it wasn’t enough. He then applied several different drops and said he would be back in 10 mins. His nurse came in and explained what the drops were and how they would make it hard to see up close but I’d be able to see far away and said she was turning the lights off to help the dialation. She also said it would be 10mins.

I noticed in the time I sat waiting that I never heard anyone in the rooms around me or anyone walking by. I sat in that dark room unable to see for over an hour. At that point I went to get out of the chair and realized he had raised it up off the ground to examine my eyes. I had to climb down off the chair which was difficult given it was dark and my vision was off.

I walked out and no one was around. I walked over to the nurses station and explained what happened and they said they were get someone in right away. No one confirmed directly that they had gone to lunch but it was discussed amongst themselves. I went back to the room and several mins later Dr. Harris came in the room. He shined a light in each of my eyes and then stated my issues would probably resolve if I lost more weight but if not completely I could go back to Dr Glatt once I lost the weight. He then left the nurse to finish up. I didn’t even get an apology for leaving me waiting the way he did. Not only do I feel like I was mistreated but I was also spoke to as if he had a problem with me from the second he walked in the room.

I’m in my 30s and significantly younger than most of the other patients I’ve seen at this office both times I’ve been. My worry is someone less capable being left in that situation and ending up really hurt due to this doctor neglect.

University Eye Specialists is amazing! I had LASIK here by Dr. Froula a month ago and I’m doing excellent, 20/15 vision and recovery has been excellent. I had an issue this week with an infected eyelid and they brought me in the same day to take a look at me and get immediate treatment. It’s obvious they truly care. So worth the money and I will certainly be returning. If you’re in doubt about LASIK, go with Dr. Froula and you’ll be in great hands.

Website is false advertisement. It says “you may request your complimentary comprehensive lasik evaluation” and when I called to do so, she said that if I am not a candidate it will cost $200. So apparently it’s only complementary if it shows that you are a candidate but you don’t know that until you have the evaluation. They’ve already lost my trust at this point so I will not proceed. Deception is not professional.

Cannot say enough about Dr. Rouse and his incredible nurse Lisa!! Lisa was so amazing to my grandparents! My grandparents drove over 7 hours to see him! He treated them like family and was extremely optimistic and encouraging!!! He spent as much time with them in their appointment that they needed to feel better than when they walked in! My grandparents said they have never treated with such care and compassion at a Doctor’s appointment. I highly highly recommend!!! He is special special and talented Doctor!!

Dr. Sowell was wonderful. He saw my teenage daughter with a scary eye infection and was compassionate, attentive and knowledgeable all while keeping the atmosphere light. The entire staff was wonderful and caring. We left feeling reassured healing was underway. I would definitely recommend him for anyone who needs an optometrist.

I was especially impressed with your staff member Chelsea, who was both meticulous in her test performance and informative and creative with me as a patient.

Dr. Gagel appeared to be completely engaged with patient care in examination, data analysis and recommendations, including flexibility in prescriptions to fit the treatment and the budget, and his explanations were clear and reasonable.

I very much appreciated interactions with all your staff members on my visit and look forward to a long term relationship.

Friendly, competent and efficient. I had cataract surgery and was in and out of the surgery center in 1.5 hours. Comfortable and totally painless. They also did excellent job of explaining aftercare instructions.

Dr. Sowell and his office staff at Hardin Valley are extraordinary! They took the time to talk to you and explain everything. From the front receptionist, nurses, doctor and check out, it was a very pleasant experience! If you need an eye exam, I would recommend going to them!

Dr. Froula was great. He took the time to explain the process thoroughly and address my concerns. The process itself was quick and only mildly uncomfortable, no pain at all. It’s only been a couple of days but I’ve had no complications or side effects other than a dramatic improvement in my vision that is getting better daily.

Dr Ben H was very thorough and of course very kind.
At least 2 other doctors previously looked at a small thing on my eye lid w/o concern even with me pointing it out. He sent me straight to get it biopsied and of course it was cancer. Even if that had not happened, I’d still highly recommend him.

Apparently it is the norm to wait a really long time for an appointment here. It was 1 hour 45 minutes after my appointment time until I was seen. I asked the front desk if this was typical to have this long of a wait and she confirmed it was. So, obviously they have a staff shortage, or a scheduling problem or something not quite right. However, I don’t enjoy going somewhere quite this disorganized and nonchalant about someone’s time. The staff was rather unfriendly as well. I work in healthcare. I know it should be better than this.

Not sure how this place has so many good reviews. I was referred here by my optometrist for a potential major issue, and It was a terrible experience. The waiting room was so crowded people were standing in front of the doors. Once I got called back after about 45 minutes, It was still another 2 hours before I was seen by a doctor. I had to have my toddler with me and obviously that was miserable as he didn’t understand why we were there for so long. While waiting we watched a couple patients also waiting decide it wasn’t worth it, and leave. Once I finally saw the doctor, he basically quickly checked my eyes and said he saw no issues, come back in 6 months and he will look again.

Luckily, I got a second opinion at a different practice, and the other doctor diagnosed me immediately upon looking at my eyes. I’m very glad I didn’t trust this Dr’s (Casey something?) opinion.

I had outpatient surgery this morning to have a cyst removed from my eyelid. I cannot say enough about how professional, courteous, friendly and caring the ENTIRE staff was, from registration to release. They were clear and precise on what they were doing, gave me excellent instructions on after care and made me feel comfortable about my procedure the whole time. Thank you Dr. T and staff!!!

I am an RN and first trained and worked with Dr. J. Ed Campbell and then he became my ophthalmologist. After his retirement, I saw his son Dr. Phillip Campbell. They were very good to me. Most recently, I have been the patient of Dr. Eric Sollenberger (grandson and nephew of the Dr’s Campbell). He has performed bilateral cataract surgery on me this past December. My case is a little complicated because I have severe Meniere’s Disease with constant severe rotational vertigo and Vestibular Migraines with dizziness and nausea. I could not have asked for better treatment by Dr. Sollenberger and the entire staff. They took my chronic illness into account making my surgery as comfortable as possible and my post-op treatment has been just as exceptional. I cannot recommend them highly enough for all your ophthalmologic needs! Dr. J. Ed (as he was known at Fort Sanders) set a high standard and his son and grandson have exceeded those expectations. He would be proud. A special thank you to Dr. Sollenberger for understanding my medical issues and making me as comfortable as possible!

Went to them for a second opinion after my optometrist noticed a possible problem that needed a specialist to diagnose. The other opthamologist, who my optometrist referred me to, was not thorough at all and my gut said get a second opinion. I am very glad I did and very glad I did with Dr. Taylor here. He saw the issue and diagnosed me and did not just brush it off. Reasonable wait time as well.

Everyone in this doctors office is kind, patient, and super helpful. I was there helping my brother with two cataract surgeries, follow ups, etc. My husband is going through the same thing at another group of doctors and I was struck by the HUGE difference in the way we were treated! I was actually horrified and am encouraging him to switch!
Couldn’t recommend them any more highly. My brother can finally drive again and with great vision!!!! 🙂

Absolutely wonderful with kids!! Instead of asking me questions, they asked my son(6yrs). I love the fact they asked him and made him feel like he was in charge. They made my son feel comfortable and made him laugh during his exam! Thank you Dr. Wadley and staff for taking care of my son! I highly recommend!!

By far the best place I have ever been to! Dr. Maysonville was absolutely perfect when it came to my five year old autistic son. He is nonverbal and she didn’t let it deter her in any way. I am contemplating even bringing my other children here for future visits.
