  The experience was amazing! Everyone was so kind and the entire experience went smoothly! I left very pleased with everyone I came across with that day! I am a major coward when it comes to being around medical personnel (because they can use needles – called white coat syndrome). I was never anxious while there.   I love this place. They get you in on time & everyone is so nice & helpful. The doctor I have Dr Jansen explains everything so you understand what’s going on & what’s needed. I have very bad dry eye & they are helping to get it treated & under control. I had eyelid surgery done by Dr Jansen & he did a great job. I highly recommend Missouri Eye Institute.

  Missouri Eye Institute Springfield went above and beyond in thoroughly covering all my concerns and questions. From the time the surgery was determined to be necessary, they sent home with me information covering the procedure, how it would be done and a prescription for the eye drops that would commence taking prior to the surgery. Just prior to the surgery they called me to see if I had any more questions and to firm up the scheduled time. On the day of the surgery, every one on staff were very professional in the way they preformed their individual assignments, each one explaining what they were doing at every step. Dr. Jensen came into the room prior to the surgery to check up on me and to inform me I was next in line. The surgery went off without a hitch and it was easy to observe the professionalism of the team members. At no time did I ever become uneasy. Upon completion, the recovery staff had me ready to go in short order. The post surgery follow up visits are completed with the same level of thoroughness. I’ve been a patient with Missouri Eye Institute for some time due to ongoing eye issues and at no time have I ever been treated with less than utmost professionalism.   I recently had cataract surgery. Dr. Osborn did an excellent job on my eyes. He listened to my concerns about allergies, and I didn’t have a problem with eye drops. Dr. Carter, my follow up optometrist, has also been helpful with concerns I had. Everyone at the institute has been very friendly and patient to answer all questions. Jordan was also wonderful in helping me. I would highly recommend Missouri Eye Institute if you are looking for good doctors and kind employees.

  I was very pleased with all the staff at the Missouri Eye Institute from the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and hello. The girl who preformed the tests was also nice and very professional.
  Doctor Andrew answered all my questions and put my mind at ease with the procedure I will have.
  I stopped by the desk on my way out and told the girl who checked me in how much I appreciated how friendly she was. I would highly recommend Missouri Eye Institute.

  Went for eye pain. During the exam I couldn’t reach the equipment and the girl who was assisting pushed my head to the bar. Seriously, how is that appropriate or professional? It isn’t. Dr. Collins gave me eye drops but no diagnosis. I didn’t use the drops because I had no diagnosis. I don’t trust or believe doctors who don’t have the decency and professionalism to discuss my health issues with me. That eye problem cleared up on its own. Now I have another eye issue that needs immediate attention. I was told that I Dr. Collins was the only doctor in Springfield who could make an immediate appointment. Fortunately that’s not correct because I would never go back to Dr. Collins.

  Absolutely disappointing. We will not be back. We arrived 15 minutes early for paperwork for our appointment and waited 40+ minutes to be called in. Once we were roomed the young lady was rude and unpleasant. They then made us sit in a waiting room again and then took us to a different room to wait for the doctor. At this point a different young lady asked us questions about the appointment that day (what had already been done meaning they had no communication) and that the other young lady had not updated the chart. Once doctor collins came in he was dressed unprofessionally and answered no questions, gave no information upon request and would ask a question then not want the answer. We will go to Neu Prater from now on.

  This was my first time going here, and I was referred. I did not know what to expect when I got there and as I was going through the procedure I still was clueless to what was going on because they never told me. I go into what I can assume a pre-screen room, the girl had no emotions. She advised me I’m going to Dilate your eyes. She did not tell me what the means. I stated I never had that done before. She said “interesting” and stated “I will put drops in your eye”. I stated again I never had that done before. She proceed to put the drops in but did not tell me it would sting nor gave me any direction or tell me she was going to put 3 different drops in. Then once I was in the eyeroom Collins come in dry with no emotions. States his name and proceed with the exam once again no directions. He sets the eye machine in front of me but I had to scoot to end of the seat to even reach it. Then the other girl in the room says rudely “put your head on the bar” like I was a disobedience child. But remind you they never gave me any direction and assumed I knew what they needed me to do. I stated again i never had my eyes dilated and the 3rd girl said “interesting “. After 10mins of this they said we will due a follow up, didn’t tell me anything about what they seen. When I left they did not tell me I wouldn’t able to see nor that I shouldn’t drive. I left that office upset,headache& basically blind.Through the grace of God I made it home. If it wasn’t for the drivers driving slow I would’ve had an accident. I had to ask Google how long will my vision be blurry because they didn’t tell me. Worse eye place I ever been to. I would NEVER RECOMMEND

  Dr Collins and his staff has been amazing, very polite and helpful. I have had surgery on one eye so far and it’s been fabulous. I can see things that I haven’t seen in years. I can actually read the TV without putting on my glasses. I can’t wait to get my second one done. I know it’s going to be amazing as well. If you need surgery I highly recommend Dr Collins and his staff. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you Dr Collins.

  I was severely nearsighted (20/400) and the lenses took me to about 20/40!! I can’t believe it! No more Coke bottle glasses. I’ll probably need readers and mild glasses for driving, but that’s it.

  The wait for this place is absolutely ridiculous. They say for new patients it’s a 2-4 hour wait but it’s a 2-4 hour wait every time we’ve come. They pack as many people as they can into waiting rooms. What Is the point of being scheduled at one time and not being seen until 4 hours later.

  My wife had an appointment with one of Mercy Eye Clinic’s doctors. We are new to this area and she thought the appointment was in Lebanon. When she couldn’t find the clinic she called. She was informed the appointment was in Springfield. She was told not to worry about being late, just drive to Springfield and she would be seen. She drove to Springfield and was refused. She was told how important the doctor’s time was and that she would have to reschedule. The doctor was, after all, a very important man. They made my wife drive two hours so they could tell her in person that she was far too insignificant to be late for an appointment with a god among men. They apparently can’t communicate such matters when they have you on the phone calling to indicate you are late. I guess they figure you won’t learn your lesson unless you drive a couple hours and beg them to be seen.

  This was a fiasco from the moment I walked in. I have never seen an office with poorer communication and scheduling skills in my 69 years. As a new patient, I was told it could be a 2-4 hour process which in and of itself is ridiculous. There were communication problems when checking in, then I was taken from one room to another, had to repeat information I had painstakingly provided prior to my appointment and upon check-in. I was put in a room for ONE HOUR before being dilated, then made to wait another hour before my 10 minute appt. with the Dr. All in all, I was there for 5 HOURS . I’ve gone to two other specialty eye clinics in the 10 years I’ve had Glaucoma (in other states) and have never seen such mis-communication and total confusion. I am only returning because I have no other options. God help me.

  Dr. Chisholm is a nice optimistic but be sure you make sure Mercy bills your insurance correctly because I have ended up paying for 3 different things which should have been covered and I didn’t find out about it until it was too late to do anything about it and they turned it in to collections. Make sure it is covered before you get it done at Mercy Hospital!

  I want to Thank Dr.Tom Prater for listening to me that as an Oncology Nurse I need my vision 100%. I had glasses for 7 years & when they got knocked off during an ER situation, I had to pull out to help. I have had the Symfony lens in both eyes now for 1 year. I am reading print off labels that my co workers (15- years younger)can’t see without glasses , read the numbers on Cox helicopter as it landed by Hulston & they call me bionic eyes now. I also have passed 2 oncology certification test at age 60 +. I hated to try to read any material before I got these lens to replace cataracts. Dr. Prater listened to the patient/person- instead of going by the age.

  When our local VA medical facility in Branson, Missouri, didn’t have an eye doctor to repair my damaged eye, they sent me to Springfield (Mercy Hospital) for treatment. It was a great favor and a lucky day when I was assigned to Doctor Hirsch. He is a highly skilled and really nice specialist that repaired the problem and restored my active life.

  Shortly after my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in October 2018, we had a appointment with Dr. Hirsch. The doctor proposed cataract surgery for her. We told him at that time any surgery involving a aesthetic was not an option. Today, November 15, we were to meet with him again following a lengthy series of tests and evaluations. After three hours, mostly spent waiting in a drafty patient waiting room, we dawned our winter apparel to leave. We, by happenstance, came face to face with the doctor. I informed him that the waiting ordeal was too much for my wife and we were leaving. I explained that my wife experienced a massive cerebral hemorrhage earlier in the year, that resulted in a rapid advancement of the Alzheimer’s. He stated that all patients are told to be prepared for a four-hour long appointment. He also remained resolute in performing cataract surgery on her. The doctor was properly informed that such was not gong to ever happen.
