What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. My family has lived at Rose Villa since it was first built way back when. One elderly aunt still resides there. The healthcare people in the care center are fabulous. The ONLY drawback is the food. It has NEVER been good. Not ever. Not since grandma first moved in

  2. This place is beautiful. Can’t wait until I retire so I can move in here! Good food and not like one would think – not at all cafeteria like.

  3. The parts I toured, residences & community spaces were Very nice. Lots to do, warm staff. There are some older-appearing residences which I did not see, but I’m imagining that they are more affordable.

  4. Worked here as a dishwasher for a few weeks. Food was good. Place was well taken care of. Staff was nice.Left after a short time, but still a nice place to work at.

  5. This is a business motivated for the money and it shows. It was marketed to my brother and wife as continueing care but has no assisted living. If you are well or need a nursing home, it is a great place but get sick like he did and just need help you must hire a person to be with you or are forced out losing your buy in completely. The “in home services” are a joke. How do you schedule a bathroom need? It is NOT in house, it is nothing more than contracting with an outside agency. At night, or if you need help with minor things, you are own your own. Its either stay well or get sick enough for nursing home. No assisted. Be aware. We lost a lot of money thinking he could stay there to the end as we were led to believe.

UPDATE: Hawthorn’s (new ownership) General Manager was let go several months ago, and since then services have gradually improved, in addition to Hawthorn initiating design and structural improvements (albeit necessary). It’s apparent the previous manager was the main culprit of many of the horrific issues at Parkrose Chateau. My husband and I just returned from a visit, and are happy to report that my parents and other residents seem to be more content and pleased with the facility. My parents are now getting consistent house cleaning services and have shared with me that the food service has also vastly improved. Things are looking much better all around. (Feb 2023 review – see update above) Avoid this retirement facility like the plague. It was purchased by Hawthorn approximately a year ago, and since then the quality in housekeeping, food, maintenance and employee retention has drastically and dramatically declined. My parents have experienced black mold (and were displaced for 9 months due to this issue), rodent issues and a lack of ANY housekeeping services for three months (which is supposed to be weekly and included in their rent)! The food has been awful because this poorly managed company can’t retain employees for very long, including chefs (in one instance, an employee had to run out and purchase frozen dinners). Following the displacement due to the mold issue, the management just literally had my parents belongings dumped back into their original cottage and didn’t move them back in as promised. My parents are both immobile and handicapped (and were very ill at the time with respiratory infections). My husband and I had to take time off of work, fly up from California and spend several days unpacking and moving them back in (only to discover rodent feces all over their belongings). It was shocking to see the squalor like conditions my parents were living in. This cost my husband and I $1,500 (last minute flight, lodging and food). The vacancy rate is currently very high, for obvious reasons. I really hope that Hawthorn can get it together (I believe they are currently improving – they did recently let go of a very ineffective and terrible manager). I will post an update if this actually happens, and I hope it does, because my 80+ year old parents and other residents have been through enough since the Hawthorn purchase.

Need to hire more help to serve the residents better. They are not always getting the services they are paying for

I worked for Parkrose Chateau for 3 yrs and was attached by many residents. Its a Joy to work with all the residents. The owner has changed so im not sure how that goes but the community is awesome and great bosses and coworkers that was a pleasure to work with.

My Mother is currently there and they treat her so well. She’s always telling me about something fun she did that day and she even likes the food!

My grandmother lived in this independent retirement building several years ago. She enjoyed it. The staff that worked there in 2017 really did seem to care.

If I could give a ZERO I would. This is a senior apartment building. Whose tenants are required to go to the smoking area to smoke. I totally agree with that…however, maintenance failed to clear packed snow /ice from ANY of the walkways. Lents Village is responsible for any injuries caused by their failure to maintain walkways. I witnessed seniors sliding across the packed snow. Very dangerous.

I go to the Meals on Wheels program in the dining room here. Further, my observation of the complex is that the public areas are very clean, the apt. Tenants are very nice and welcoming to guests such as myself.
