What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I can’t recommend this gym highly enough. I am lucky to travel for work and visit BJJ gyms all over Europe and North America. Zombie is my home gym, and my favorite place to train. Jared and his other instructors are talented, dedicated, and knowledgeable, and work hard to create a welcoming, safe, and friendly training environment. You should take the leap and try it!

  2. A great BJJ gym with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with quality instruction. There are many instructors with a variety of different styles, all teaching effective techniques. The gym offers gi, no-gi, wrestling, judo, and boxing all at convenient times and offers classes every day of the week. They also host a kid’s program for children of all levels and ages. Mats are cleaned after every class. After training here for 3.5 years I can confidently recommend this gym to anybody wanting to start BJJ or for those who already train and are looking for a new gym.

  3. Zombie is great gym whether you’re just starting out or competing at a high level. Every coach goes the extra mile to ensure students are improving in their technique and building good habits. Mats are always clean and overall Zombie offers a competitive yet welcoming training environment.

  4. I was in Allentown a few days for work, so I sent them a message through their website asking about their policy for visitors. A few minutes later they replied simply “Come on by!” I went to the advanced no-go class, and I’m glad I did. The guard passing techniques covered in the instruction portion of class were helpful and pretty easy to pick up.

I don’t train outside my home gym very often. Honestly, I still get a little nervous jumping in with a new group. But this was a nice facility with a great, relaxed atmosphere. I wasn’t mobbed with questions or singled out. I rolled with 8 guys, all very skilled, and enjoyed the camaraderie and conversation on top of the challenge. I will definitely try to come back if I’m in the area again.

  5. I’ve been wanting to try out BJJ and this was a great introductory class. I have zero experience, but Jared explained everything well and was an excellent teacher.

I have been working with Rob at Leading Edge Karate for years. He is very passionate about marital arts and provides wonderful services to the community and he is a professional business man. The women’s self defense class is something all women should consider taking. Great experience anytime I have worked with Rob and his staff.

Hello, Not sure what Amanda’s issue was (one star rating review), but I and others have always known that you may terminate your membership at Leading Edge Martial arts by having a meeting with Sensei and explaining the situation. Will he attempt to have you stay? Absolutely, as any good businessman would do. It just so happens that he is trying to get you to stay so that your child can complete a valuable life skill that they will keep and use for the rest of their lives. My son started at Leading Edge when he was 6 years old. We were told right away that tuition was for two classes per week but we could attend two additional classes per week, free of charge. We took advantage as often as we could, with no issues and we were never asked for more money. During COVID, Sensei did not stop and used ingenuity to bring the same service, without interruption, with new lessons recorded and posted every single day, via YouTube. It is now approximately 10 years since my son started and he recently earned his first degree black belt. My son showed commitment and a non quitting spirit, that Sensei teaches all the time (in addition to Sensei teaching respect to your family, your fellow class mates and your country) My son will benefit from the skills and teachings he has learned at Leading Edge Martial Arts for the rest of his life. He is better for having taken this journey (which he continues on, as he now continues to train and now works at Leading Edge Martial Arts – yet another valuable life skills that Sensei will help to teach him). I have never had anything less than a five star rating of the teachings my son has received and don’t understand how you can not have that feeling. You just can’t please everyone, I guess. I would recommend Leading Edge Martial Arts to anyone (and have several times).

Close to a year ago, my now 16 year old daughter expressed an interest in martial arts. She plays competitive volleyball but wanted to try something that was her and her alone. I contacted LEMA to see if she could go in and see how it was, if she would be interested, etc. She met with Sensei Rob and loved it. She joined, and shortly thereafter, her father decided to join as well. Both my husband and daughter love the facility, the staff and classes. They love the flexibility of being able to schedule classes when convenient for them. And bonus, some of my daughter’s closest friends are people that she has met through the school.

I Highly Recommend Leading Edge Martial Arts! The environment is positive and family friendly. Sensei Rob and his staff are dedicated to their students. We are proud to say our son has been attending LEMA for over 2 years. The program has been instrumental for him in many ways including building self-confidence, self-discipline, and learning self-defense skills, all while making friends too. #LEMAstrong

Sensei Rob carved out time outside of his normal schedule to provide my class and I with a customized self-defense workshop. He did not charge us as this was for college students. His wife, Jen, also took time out of her schedule to help the Sensei with the demos. Our class learned so much (and they made it fun – lots of laughs). This was extremely informative and could literally save a life! His passion for giving women of all ages this information was evident. Leading Edge also gives back to the community in many ways such as serving veterans and donating to Toys for Tots. Please consider supporting this wonderful local business! Thank You so much Sensei Rob and Jen!

My 4 year old son loves coming to karate class on Saturday morning. He is still learning but has come a long way with understanding the different moves/techniques and is responding well when it comes to listening and focusing on tasks.

Shihan Simpson bullies and degrades both the students both adult and children its not it has high standards it is that he is hypocritical. The other teachers were okay but he was awful and is biases with certain students .especially how he trues to force money out of the members.

I have been with the organization 25 years and counting. Because of my training, my experiences, as a person I gained skills that enriched every aspect of my life and helped to empower me. I have great people I train with and great instructors. My children all grew up in the organization and have taken their skills and empowerment with them as well. I have not regretted the day I began training and as student close to 60, I can say I still train to this day.

This place is a joke, don’t waste your money or your child’s time. We signed our 3 year old up and the manager seemed a little strange off the bat and spoke to my child like he was 10. The classes are very unorganized and they gave no direction to help the kids stay focused or learn the moves correctly. One time we were running 5 minutes late for the class and the manager pulled me aside and told me that next time if we are running late it’s better if we don’t come at all. This was a toddler karate class, not a professional sport. Then I once got reprimanded for taking my 3 year old, who was potty training, to the bathroom during the class because I had to walk across the mat to the bathrooms and it was considered a disruption. We also had a few issues with schedule changes and they only have one class on a Saturday morning so if you can’t make it there are no other times to make up the missed class and you will not get any of your money back. I know there are plenty of other karate classes in the valley so I would 100% recommend going somewhere else. They are only in it for your money.

It’s a great blend of intense cardio and striking technique paired with challenging encouragement from peers and the instructors. The motivation to push ones-self comes easily in this great environment and with this program. 5 stars plus for the workout, the mental benefits, the team, and the drive of all the instructors.
