a year agoWe hired the company Cré-Actif as part of a project to transform our house. The project consisted of transforming a 75-year-old house, completely renovating the old part, expanding the house by 70%, and marrying the old part with the new, creating a coherent whole. Cré-Actif took on this complex challenge brilliantly. Impeccable professionalism, no compromise on construction quality, complex work carried out with great attention to detail. I highly recommend the services of Cré-Actif Construction.11 months agoHERE ARE THE FACTS WITHOUT JUDGMENT (ELSE PATRICK ASSELIN WILL TRY TO SILENCE US BY A DEMAND AS HE HAS ALREADY TRIED TO DO):Major renovation of a 100-year-old plex in Montreal on the basis of a “cost plus” (cost +) agreement. Initially a detailed budget of more than 40 pages is submitted to us. During interior demolition structural issues are discovered. M Asselin offers an interesting solution at an additional cost of $112,000. We accept. Demolition continues. Seeing the invoices piling up, we asked that a new budget be submitted to us for the entire project. A few days before the presentation of this new budget, Mr. Asselin told us that the budget revision is 90% complete and that we should have no surprises. A new budget is subsequently sent to us via email: NEW COST INCREASE OF $700,000. A first analysis of this budget allows us to see that there are $150,000 worth of costs charged twice. Faced with this lack of budgetary rigor and in order to prevent our project from becoming a financial disaster, we asked Créactif to leave the site.
A new contractor is hired at a cost lower than Créactif’s budget. This contractor noted that concrete slabs supporting columns had been incorrectly positioned following an incorrect reading of the engineer’s plans. Also materials not approved by the engineer were used. A meeting is held with Mr. Asselin. Normally an entrepreneur must correct his errors at his own expense. However, the bond of trust being broken and the faulty workmanship affecting the foundation, we did not want Cré-actif to make the corrections. It was then AGREED AND ACCEPTED that rather than carrying out the fixes, Créactif would submit a compensation proposal to us based on its cost price. MR. ASSELIN DID NOT KEEP WORD SINCE NO PROPOSAL WAS SUBMITTED TO US.
So here are the facts that caused the project of a lifetime to become a nightmare.
