Our 5 year old immediately fell in love not just with karate but with all the teachers, Sensei Alex, Sensei Mike, and Sensei Nadia. Their approach is age appropriate and fun. It’s wonderful to see the kids helping and caring for each other, with older and more experienced students volunteering to help with the younger classes and students within each class looking out for each other. They are learning kindness, compassion and sportsmanship at an early age, and being appropriately challenged. Tajik karate is LGBTQ welcoming.By Lina Rosengren-Hovee (3 months ago)It’s been 3-4 months since joining Tajik Karate – and we are delighted to be among Sensei Alex’s students. My daughter (4 yr old) literally tells her classmates in school how excited she is to attend her Karate class. The class sessions are wonderful. For example, the 1st half of the class includes cardio vascular activities ranging from high-knees, army crawls, bear crawls, crab walks and are also vary in intervals. I’m still in disbelief how intense the workouts are BUT the kids enjoy it because the teachers/instructors are patient and caring. The second half of class includes technique (ie front kicks, roundhouse kicks, horse stance, punch, blocking) drills and kata begins as the belt ranks advance. The belt exam is so special- my daughter’s self esteem grew the moment she passed her exam which also included her breaking a board with an overhead hammer strike – something we never imagined we’d see our daughter accomplish on her own. Most of all – Tajik is a wonderful family-owned/operated school. Sensei Alex is accompanied by Sensei Nadia, Mike and Sareh are incredibly genuine people and we couldn’t be happier to enroll. Side note : the adult classes are also amazing. I saw the adult students – one word, “wow!”By D H (8 months ago)After researching multiple karate dojos in Irvine we selected Tajik Karate and enrolled our 6 year old son 6. Tajik karate teaches kids respect for everyone, hard work and promotes good health. Of all the sports we tried, karate has been the most fun and it never grew old. Today after 4 years of training, our 10 year old son received a black belt in Karate. Alex Tajik is a very uplifting, positive role model and trully cares about his dojo and students. His kids are also there practicing, assisting, promoting fitness, discipline and of course fun! Tajik Karate is exactly the reason why Irvine and Tustin are family friendly wholesome goodness. When I first joined the gym, Brock Dias was working, and he was very welcoming and gave me a rundown of the gym policy. He’s also a collegiate wrestler that teaches a really great, beginner-friendly wrestling class. Also, I checked out the cardio kickboxing and No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. All the instructors were super fun, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I’ve been to multiple gyms in Orange County and other parts of California. Team Oyama is by far my favorite gym. I first started coming to GBHQ as a competitor from Australia and it has always been an phenomenal experience from the instruction, to the cleanliness and professionalism. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, the staff and the students are very welcoming and it always feels like a home away from home. I now live in the states and the community that train here have now become my second family. Would recommend to anyone of any gender and age it’ll definitely change their life
PERFECT TIMING!
I first came to this school for the first time last year but my son was not ready as he was still very young. We just recently came back and saw that this school (that was already so nice) was completly remodeled and it looks and feels incredible. They instuctors and staff are lovely and so easy to talk to but most importantly they make my son feel special and acknowledged daily.

GBHQ must be one of the best Jiu Jitsu gyms I have come across. I’ve been attending Headquarters for about 5yrs. The instructors are by far the best in the grappling world, yet so humble.
Not only do they inspire you, but they care about your well-being. They make it safe for everyone to train, they create a family environment and coach you throughout your Jiu Jitsu journey.
Joining Headquarters has been the best thing that has happened to me. I have become more confident, have lost weight, gained self-defense skills but most importantly, I have forged friendships that will last me a lifetime.

Gracie Barra headquarters is an amazing academy to train at! I’ve been training there for over a decade and I always have a positive experience every time I train. Love this place can’t train here enough. I virtually live here on my days off. From the teachers to the students to the classes and environment just awesome. Great community and culture to be apart of. This place is what comes to mind when I think of how a martial arts school should be.
