Marshall’s & Homegoods is always my happy place. Some I go to shop, or just to dream. However, lately, a lot of their inventory has been great, hit or miss. Lots of damaged or blah items. But this last trip, I did find some awesome lamps. I would love to have a talk with the buyers to find out what’s going on. Marshall’s & Homegoods will remain my happy place.
The smell when you enter the large area enclosed before going into the store was hideous! At first I thought it was the carpet from all the wetness just sitting on it and not being cleaned. But then it continued into the store. I was looking for office/desk supplies and there was a bunch right in the front near the main entrance. The smell was so hideous I had to cover my nose and mouth. It was just stale funk! So I moved away from the door but the store in general just had a funk and looked run down, had a lousy selection. Then the fire alarms are going off for a minute before someone announces that we don’t need to be alarmed they’re just doing a test. Why wouldn’t you announce that before they went off? Either way I was already heading to the door to escape the funky smell, I had zero interest looking around this location. I won’t be back to that one ever again!
Two of the same items marked differently…asked cashier to price match (which you’d think would be perfectly fine given their own store policies.) I was told “no” in a very rude tone. Will shop Burlington next door instead! Better deals, more brands, and more XXL clothes and Size 13 footwear. Also, nicer staff.
The selection is not the best but the employees are pretty friendly. They lost a star because this heavy, older woman with black hair was following me around the cosmetic area for loss prevention purposes I assume. This never bothers me as long as they stay out of my way but this woman had the most rancid breath ever and she just kept talking. I guess they talk to you to make it seem like they aren’t following you but her breath was so awful I was literally running from her. But every time I stopped to look at something she would come over and pollute the air with her tooth decay or whatever. It was disgusting so they lost a star for that.
