  If I could give a zero star I would. I was originally booked with Angel but when I got there she was not available and I got stuck with John. I usually do my own taxes but I went to H&R Block for one reason, to make sure my tuition was dealt with properly. John was not able to answer any of my questions during the appointment (about my unallocated tuition, common law, EI payments I owed), John kept me there for 2 hours because he kept making mistakes in the new and old system, he pushed me to get the instant refund and kept boasting about how much I was getting as a return. The instant refund was not explained to me that it is an estimated amount and if there are discrepancies you will have to pay them back. John asked if I wanted to get their Peace of Mind insurance and he explained that if there are any discrepancies in the return that H&R Block would deal with the CRA for me. He did not make clear that if he made a mistake with the refund on his end while filing that the only way for them to fix his mistake was to get the Peace of Mind insurance. He never mentioned that possibility AT ALL. I just now received a notice in the mail saying I owe H&R Block $1100 because there was a discrepancy in my tuition amount recorded. I just went there today to speak with John about the issue. I stood in the lobby for about 45 mins until he finally came out and said “I see where I made a mistake” he then explained to me that he submitted my tuition amounts incorrectly which increased my return amount and that’s why I owe them $1100. When I asked how I can get this rectified as it’s their mistake John said to me “I realize we’ve probably lost you as a customer but since you didn’t get the insurance there’s nothing we can do to help.” If I had been told the insurance covered that I would have gotten it. He was, again, not able to answer my follow up questions as to why there are so many mistakes made and why I was not explained things properly. He just shrugged his shoulders and said “there’s a number on the sheet where you can set up a payment plan, the only thing I can do is apologize.” NEVER ever ever trust the “tax experts” at H&R Block. I have never been handled like that after an employee admits they made a HUGE mistake. This is my life, it may be your job John but this is my life. I have been completely misled, miscommunicated with, and made to feel like this place does not care about their clients. I was sold more on the instant refund then actually getting help with my taxes. Which was the whole point of me going in. Yes John. You lost me as a client, it’s unfortunate that’s the only negative action you will be getting from your mistakes is this post.

  I am single father who just moved here and started a new job that has me working late hours. I called 2 different times to make sure they were open until 9 and could do my taxes and both times I was assured we could get it done. I arrived at 8:30 and was told no. It was a dire situation as I have court tomorrow and needed my taxes done for the paperwork. Explained my situation and still they said no, even offered to pay more and nothing. Just kills me that people don’t help people anymore. Especially a corporation like h and r block

  Made an appointment. The Empolyee did not show up. We waited over half a hour then the receptionist suggest we leave our papers for someone to do and they will call us. They lost our taxes… have not called back to tell us they found them yet. It’s been 2 weeks. Won’t be going here again.

  Staff were very professional, friendly, and helpful! One previous empolyer gave me my T4 but did not give it to the CRA. This resulted in my return from that year getting reassessed and me appearing to owe money (because when filed digitally T4’s from the employee are not included only those the employer provides to the CRA). Luckily for me the amount I appeared to be owing was less than my return this year. Jeff took what I was “owing” off my return this year to pay the CRA so I no longer appear indebt to them. Then Jeff mailed the T4 to the CRA for me so now I will get the money I overpaid back direct deposited into my bank account. Jeff was sure to explain things in a way that made sense to me. Excellent service! Great office!

  Went there once, got them to do my taxes. Got reassessed and owe money. It’s been about a month since H&R Block told me “if we find that it was our mistake, everything including interest is covered.” Be aware that they’re audit protection isn’t a priority.

  Additionally, employees here need 3 days of training to become a ‘tax expert.’ just do your own taxes and save some $$. Use turbo tax and YouTube if you can’t figure out how to use Turbo Tax.

  Found these guys online and thought I would give them a try since they had 5* star reviews. I’m a small business owner that has to report my HST remittance quarterly. I got an invoice from them in 2 days, before they even had all of the paperwork that they requested. I submitted all the requested paperwork. Once they completed my HST remittance, they emailed me, asking for approval before submitting to CRA. I emailed them back same day to please submit it and I paid the invoice that I got from them. I emailed them back asking how to setup payments through my bank for CRA, they did not respond. A month later I decided to log into my CRA account to make a payment and noticed that Account Measures did not submit my quarterly HST remittance. I emailed them to ask if they submitted it and got an email back from Amit saying “You need to pay your outstanding balance before we can continue.”. I emailed back asking what outstanding balance and that I paid their invoice the same day they completed my HST remittance and asked for approval to submit it. I didn’t get a reply right away so I called them. They didn’t answer. Amit called me back a few minutes later saying “Sorry, we had the wrong Jason as being outstanding. I’ll have staff complete this today”. It’s pretty sad when an accounting firm can’t even tell when their own invoices are being paid, which in turn resulted in my HST remittance to be submitted late. I had never received any indication of any kind that they thought I had an outstanding balance until I called them. My HST remittance was filed a month late and would of been even later if I didn’t happen to log into my CRA account. I was very upset and not impressed with the lack of professionalism and empathy. I told them that I was going to pick up all of my stuff and they did not even try to keep me as a client or bother apologizing. They just left my stuff out for me to pick up like nothing happened. Not impressed!
