What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. If I could give this location a 0 stars I would. I would consider the star to be given to Favors the delivery service. According to the pictures on their website they offered beignets. Me and my husband ordered them but when they arrived via delivery, they were actually shaped like hush puppies. I called and spoke to the manager and she was very rude and stated that she looked at them and they were approved and nothing wrong with them. I explained my concern and she continued with the nonchalant attitude. I expressed that I wanted a refund and she said that she couldn’t because we order through a third party. I expressed that something needed to be done because what we received was terrible. She offered a gift card but when I asked for her name she hung up. I called back and asked for the managers name and her managers name. The manger that I spoke to was Dominique Barnes and her manager is Tracy Brown. I will not recommend this location.

  2. Really disappointed ☹️. We had the rice and beans, popcorn shrimp, catfish bites and blackened chicken Alfredo. The fettuccine and catfish bites were edible, but EVERYTHING lacked flavor! The shrimp looked really great but tasted like fried flour. The red beans and rice were trash.. I’ve been here once before and had a different experience but this was years ago. Won’t be back

  3. Stopped in here for a late lunch after work and before heading home. Menu’s we’re somewhat well used, otherwise things were not bad. Their stuffed mushroom appetizer was VERY yummy. My wife had the Chicken a la mer that was delicious and I had the garlic seafood pasta, I was a little disappointed that I had to play hunt the seafood in amongst all the pasta, but it was tasty non the less. Props to our server who was in the restaurant by her self and was super busy, but still managed to provide good service.

  4. Had the best experience here! Food was delicious and we didn’t have to wait very long at all! Dominique was the best server ever, so sweet and attentive! Will be asking for her next time we go!

  5. Lexi was what made our experience awesome! Her smile and kind words expressed while we waited a bit for our food due to being busy was amazing! Customer service at its finest!

Great experience. If you love wine it’s a great place to visit. The waiter was very knowledgeable on the wines and was on hand whenever we needed anything. The food was delicious, they have a good variety. Don’t let the name fool you, the place is quite fancy, prices are pretty fair. Nothing too pricey in my opinion. Definitely visit with friends, plan on tasting some of the wines from their vast menu, and enjoy

We reserved a table at the Funky Door for my birthday, unsure what to expect, but hoping it was good. We were very delightfully surprised at all aspects of the experience. Our waitress was knowledgeable, attentive, and had great recommendations, and offered a complimentary glass of (delicious) champagne for the special occasion. We also got a blind bubbly flight, where they chose 3 bubbly wines based on our tastes (could also do red or white flight, but hey, we were celebrating!) and they were on point. The food was amazing, too. Can’t go wrong with fondue (for appetizer and dessert); salad was light, refreshing, and flavorful; and the ribeye could rival that of any steakhouse. The char on the outside was perfect, and they know how to do a rare steak! All of that combined with the funky atmosphere and eccentric yet tasteful decor made for a great experience. A musician began playing guitar around 7 and the restaurant was pretty busy by then, so I’d recommend reservations.

I love it for the great food and special vibes, not to mention that the place is beautiful. Considering all those reasons I picked this spot not only to offer dinner for my family and friends in my wedding day, but some of my photos were taken here. All guests were happy about the food and the service even the ones with dietary restrictions and vegetarian preferences. Me and my husband received an outstanding customer service from the staff all the time, they made lots of cute details for us, in our special day that we didn’t even consider. We have been going there every year to celebrate our anniversary, it is always the best of the best here in Lubbock. It is a fine place that you really have to try if you are living here or if you are visiting Lubbock city. Here are some of the photos from our wedding that was in 2020! Thanks Funky door staff! 💖

Had an amazing experience. The food, the drinks and atmosphere did it for me. I tried this specialty drink, “The Chilton”, it was very refreshing and tasty. I had the shrimp and arugula salad and we shared a charcutiere board which I loved. Everything was delicious and our server very attentive. I do want to go back and experience more. Good job Funky Door, keep doing what you’re doing.

Love the decor in this place. The evening we dined in, there was a live band. Great music but it was a bit loud so we had a hard time carrying on a conversation and there wasn’t any seating that wasn’t right in front of the stage. The food was good. I really loved the fondue. We ordered the Funky Door and added beef tips. Very good and unique as you cannot find that most places. My mom ordered a salad with chicken. It was good but I felt $27.00 a bit too pricey for a salad.

I had an amazing birthday dinner here the other night. Grant, our server, did an excellent job at pairing our wines with our meals. I had the A5 wagyu ribeye. It was perfectly cooked, and is most likely the best steak I’ve ever eaten. Everything was amazing from the appetizers too desserts. If you haven’t been here you need to try it out!

Amazing meal. We had the wagyu tomahawk. Food was 10/10, makes the former best steak id had like a 2/10. I have thought about the meal multiple times a day each day since going. Wait staff never let the drinks get low. They were very polite and professional. The wine menu is EXTENSIVE, and that is putting it lightly. But with a whole book for wine selection i was surprised to only see one page of mixed drinks, although that is likely due to demand and demographic. Price is about what youd expect from a higher end restaurant like this. Whole steak looks small in the picture but it was definitely enough for two people.

First time here and I absolutely loved it! Will be back! Exceptional food with a good portion, service was on point, with a lovely atmosphere. Great place for a date night.

Arrived to judgemental girls at the reservation desk, ended up eating outside, the view around the restaurant is pleasant, appetizers were really good and the waitress worked hard but she was covering to many tables, food was slow, steaks were smothered in pepper that we did not ask for, lobster was cold. Not worth 380$. Did not meet expectations!

I’ve thought about posting this for a long time because I don’t like to leave bad reviews, but I just can’t stop thinking about how we spent over $300 for terrible food and mediocre drinks. 0 stars for the food, good service though. We went to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. My seabass was completely over cooked and bland, the broccolini was far undercooked, and the risotto was cold. My boyfriend’s steak (the bone in ribeye) was very tough and looked like it was just thrown on the plate as the juices were splashed everywhere and cooked on the plate like it had sat under a warmer. He didn’t even want to take a picture. The truffle mashed potatoes, the salad, and the bread were good, but they were just sides. The real disappointments were the main dishes. For $55-70 a plate, you would expect high quality dishes in presentation, quality, and taste/texture. I highly recommend finding somewhere else to celebrate your special occasion, I don’t understand why this place has such a good reputation when we had such a terrible experience. We would have told a manager, but we didn’t see one the entire time we were there.
