  1. Purchased a quart of paint, turns out needed a little more red. Went back to request if could add a little red. Was informed not a service they do but would gladly sell me another quart. It now makes sense why store is always empty, or maybe 3 people max. But city mill is always busy. And although they could not add the red because purchased else where they did inform me they have little bottles of latex paint. Customer service is there motto. Solved the problem and never going to Kaimuki ace ever again. What a difference!!!

  2. Went into Ace to find some parts, upon entering i was greeted by a very knowledgeable and helpful woman. It made my afternoon not having to rummage through all the pieces. Mahalo

  3. Poor customer service. Poor enough to warrant a review. Couldn’t believe the way the older woman behind the counter spoke to me. (There were two other employees working there who were perfectly nice.)

  4. My go to shop for tools, repairs and miscellaneous items. Mixed experiences every time I go there. Some associates are really kind and represent the community here in hawaii very well. Others are not, and more often are grumpy to be there or just simply not as kind. Hope that changes.

    I’m not a contractor, but just a homeowner with little knowledge of tools and building supplies. I was disappointed and offended with a grey hair Asian sales person behind the ordering counter. He has no kind customer service skills. His was very sassy with my ignorance of the material I was purchasing. Very short of the Hardware Hawaii TV commercials about customer service. Be patient and treat customers with Aloha and kindness. Management: a couple of your employees at the Mapunapuna location need customer service training. There are a few there that are very good. I’m retired and live close by. Be nice to customers. That is not too much to ask.

    Went inside, was looking through stuff to fix my clogged kitchen sink. Liza immediately stopped what she was doing and started helping me! This store has such very good customer service! Will definitely come Herr again!

    As a disabled veteran I was told that Hardware Hawaii offers a veterans discount of 10% I said great. 10% off. So I had to fill out an application and return to a store turn it in and I did. I specifically went to the store for this discount. Filled my cart went to the checkout and was told none of the items I had could receive the discount. I had some drill bits, light switches and a circuit breaker. I asked ok what items are the discount good for? Is there a list. I asked the cashier and the store manager. They both said they do not know ?? I have gone there 3 more times purchased other items hoping to receive the discount and was told every time there is no veterans discount on the items ?? Talk about bait and switch. Will never shop there again and am passing this on to all my fellow veterans.

    Great “little” store with EASY ACCESS in Mapunapuna. They may not have every tool or piece of equipment that you may need, but they can definitely fulfill your lumber order. Shop local, and give them a try first, before heading to your usual big box store.
