Christine was extremely helpful in creating our Wills for our young growing family. Also taking into consideration extenuating circumstances with us having Embryo’s in Freezing and how to ensure our wishes for them be carried out. Also covering the needs of my husband’s company, should anything happen. She made the ‘legaleze’ easy to understand and drew up our papers in a timely and concise manner. Very professional and approachable! Would highly recommend Christine’s services.

I recently used Christine to draw up mirror wills, Powers of Attorney and Health Representation agreements. I was very impressed with her attitude and her compassion as we talked about, what can be, a very emotive subject. She was very thorough. In the end we had three appointments with her all of which she undertook very professionally. I didn’t feel rushed at all. I felt as if I mattered to her. I will be recommending Christine to my friends.

We recently completed 2 real estate transactions, a sale and a purchase, through the Notary Group. All went fine until the actual day of the closing when they called to say there had been a mistake and they needed an additional $1,200 payment immediately via credit card. My elderly mother in law took the call and of course paid the requested amount. Now we have been waiting for 3 weeks to get a copy of the final paperwork and an explanation for the last minute extra payment request. I sincerely hope the payment was legitimate but at this point we do not know and our main concern is that neither of the owners Linda Caisley or Tim Janzen are willing to supply the final signed documentation from the transactions or an explanation of the extra payment. I hardly ever leave a bad review as I prefer to work out the issue with the company but our requests are being ignored and I think folks need to understand the unprofessional nature of this business. I would not recommend them.

In response to your reply: My mother in law is your client, I am on file as authorized to receive the information and am not asking for anything inappropriate, neither am I threatening you, I am simply stating facts. I was updated today that the file is still being worked and the paperwork should be available soon.

Updating this review on 9/11/20: It has now been 6 weeks since the transactions closed and still no paperwork or credit card charge explanation received. No response to emails, one brief phone conversation with the promise to send the paperwork but nothing sent. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for professional notary services.

Updating review 10/18/23: This review came up on my google account today so thought I would provide info on how it was closed out. We filed a case with credit card company, Notary Group was not able to provide any valid support for the charge so it was reversed by credit card company. We filed a complaint with the Notary Association of BC and were told action would be taken but they don’t provide details on those actions so who knows what happened. Still the worst experience we have had with any professional organization in 30 years of business and realestate transactions.

Honestly I would not recommend them at all. Poor response time, unprofessional and when the completion date time came they didn’t do their job at all. My realtor called me the day of telling me the seller did not receive the funds and hadn’t gotten any of the proper documents. Took almost 5 hours for them to finish something that was suppose to be the day prior. Higher priced point than other notaries and definitely not worth it. Don’t use this company

They completely mismanaged a real estate transaction.  They waited until 1/2 an hour AFTER it was supposed to close to request paperwork they already should have had. In a letter to the sellers lawyer, they blatantly lied. We would absolutely never hire this notary or recommend them. If I could give zero stars or even negative I would. Edit…reply to comment below. Your “managed” the buyers deal of our house sale. And did a poor job. I kept the letter that showed a blatant lie to our lawyer.

I had to get a rush conveyancing done for a mortgage, and both Linda and Derek, who are actually from the Kelowna office, both stepped in and went out of their way to do all that they could do close within two days. I was surprised by the level and breadth of service the group offers. They were phenomenal. A whole new experience for me with lawyers. So pleasant to work with, and both went far out of their way to make sure this complicated conveyancing was sorted on time. Thank you The Notary Group!

A notary public (a.k.a. notary or public notary; pl. notaries public) of the common law is a public officer constituted by law to serve the public in non-contentious matters usually concerned with general financial transactions, estates, deeds, powers-of-attorney, and foreign and international business. A notary's main functions are to validate the signature of a person (for purposes of signing a document); administer oaths and affirmations; take affidavits and statutory declarations, including from witnesses; authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents; take acknowledgments (e.g., of deeds and other conveyances); provide notice of foreign drafts; provide exemplifications and notarial copies; and, to perform certain other official acts depending on the jurisdiction. Such transactions are known as notarial acts, or more commonly, notarizations. The term notary public only refers to common-law notaries and should not be confused with civil-law notaries. With the exceptions of Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Quebec (whose private law is based on civil law), and British Columbia (whose notarial tradition stems from scrivener notary practice), a notary public in the rest of the United States and most of Canada has powers that are far more limited than those of civil-law or other common-law notaries, both of whom are qualified lawyers admitted to the bar: such notaries may be referred to as notaries-at-law or lawyer notaries. Therefore, at common law, notarial service is distinctly different from the practice of law, and giving legal advice and preparing legal instruments is forbidden to lay notaries such as those appointed throughout most of the United States. Despite these distinctions, lawyers in the United States may apply to become notaries, and this class of notary is allowed to provide legal advice, such as determining the type of act required (affidavit, acknowledgment, etc.).
