What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I was amazed how clean this place was. They really go above and beyond to take care of the animals that come to them. I was surprised to see that they also had rabbits, ferrets and other small animals for adoption as well.

  2. Everyone who works and supports this place loves animals. It’s not an easy job. I’ve always had wonderful experiences here with all staff, animals, and the great facility.
It saddens me that some people don’t understand that if they hear cats or dogs yowling, crying, or making unsettling noises it’s because they are finally in a safe place and the animals are either acclimating to it-which is hard for some abused/homeless animals, or maybe scared and healing from infections or health issues/life-saving-surgeries in a no-kill center.
I said before the staff has always been so kind, patient and knowledgeable. We’re very lucky to have such a great group here.

  3. Great staff and volunteers! Very patient and understanding. Spent a lot of time with us on Sunday and we left with a new doggy!
    Thanks to everyone there!

  4. Wonderful, knowledgeable FRIENDLY staff! Very clean environment. Well cared for AND loved fur babies♥️🐹♥️🐶♥️🐈.

Thank you for letting us adopt Gilroy and Mochi! Thank you for making sure THEY were finding the right home too! What a wonderful addition they are to our family! We are so blessed!

Beautiful experience as it has been in the past!

  5. On snow day i got turned back with a sick cat. They showed no interés on the animal health. He was skin and bones. Tails organización helped him. I would donate to them instead. Humane society of Westport didn’t showed any empathy.

Awesome place. My wife and I came in from Wilton do do a meet and greet with the white husky shown here. Staff took the time to let us hang out with her for about 30 min to make sure it was a good fit. They really seem to care.

Recently adopted a cat. They offered ample time to meet the cat, and be certain we wanted her. She hid from us the first two days we had her home. Now she’s a bundle of love.

I adopted a wonderful cat back in February. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, allowing me to bring my dog to meet the cat. They truly care about the animals. Shelter pets are so grateful for a good home. The cat always wants to be cuddled up with our dogs or us. I’m amazed someone relinquished this awesome animal. Check out their pets, you will be glad you did.

Let’s start by saying giving this location a one star is entirely too generous. I FOUND a dog and being the honest person/mother that I am I couldn’t help but to feel guilty for keeping the dog without knowing if it had an owner. I did the right thing and brought him to the Bridgeport Animal Shelter. HUGE mistake!!!! I was initially told within seven days I’ll be able to officially adopt the dog. I dropped the dog off on a Thursday and the girl upfront told me that the seven days wouldn’t officially start until the following Tuesday for whatever reason. As my 6 year old daughter started her countdown, on the 7th day (more than 7days) I called the location and they gave me a bogus excuse as to why we couldn’t pick him up. Every week for OVER a month there was a different excuse. I literally dreaded calling them. My 6yr old daughter was beyond disappointed. It completely broke my heart. I guess you really can’t relate unless you have children of your own… Weeks went by then they called me for a “meet and greet”…. Please keep in mind I found the dog… During the “meet and greet” the woman Jennifer stated at least THREE times, “It’s okay to have a change of hearts…” I got the vibe that she really didn’t want us to adopt him… As if I was checking on the dog for over a month for my health… The dog was completely different from when I originally dropped him off. He was miserable, dirty, scared, etc.! I literally followed all their protocols and it was almost like they didn’t want to give me the dog! I was more than qualified to adopt the dog! It was my first time adopting a dog from this shelter and not only would I never adopt here again, I would NEVER recommend anyone to adopt from their location as well. The majority of those ladies are miserable b****s and it’s sad…. Don’t get into this field if you don’t want the best for these pets PERIOD! Thank God after a little over 1 month we finally have the dog home and with love and the proper care he is a COMPLETELY different dog!! Save yourself a headache and don’t bother with this shelter.

Wonderful, clean, very open, honest, and accommodating. Well educated staff and they were really great to talk to. They have FANTASTIC turnover rate. People are adopting animals left and right it was so good to see. And the animals were HAPPY. I didn’t feel bad for them being there. You could really tell by their behavior they were happy.
