What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Don’t miss this place! Fabulous food and super friendly staff. Our waitress made us feel so at home and made us feel like one of the family.

  2. With all of the great reviews, I found myself very underwhelmed with Gwennie’s. The staff was great, nice and pleasant. Got seated rather quickly upstairs, which was nice. The food was served quickly, yet warm. As if everything was pre-made in warming trays. The Full Order of Biscuits & Gravy was large and priced well. It was also very bland. The gravy was thin with little sausage flavor and even less sausage bits, more of a plain cream gravy than sausage. The side of Home Fries was large. These too were bland, as if cooked without basic seasoning.

Had high hopes from all that I have heard about this place, but it was a solid swing and a miss. Perhaps there lunch menu is better?

  3. Delicious food and kind staff! I got the reindeer sausage and eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy and it was delicious. The rest of our party loved their food too! Cute atmosphere as well. Highly recommend!

  4. Ordered the Fisherman’s Platter. It’s a little pricey for just fried seafood. We should’ve tried other food but we need to catch our flight.

That aside, the customer service is great and the servers are fantastic. ☺️

Also, the place looks cool to me. You’ll see the history and the memories that it holds over the years.

  5. The best restaurant we visited in Anchorage! The lady who served us was super nice and friendly. We ordered a crab benedict and a french toast. The benedict was very yummy. They got nice decoration, they put old newspapers on the wall telling history of the restaurant and the town, which was interesting to read. We noticed the restaurant got many awards, totally deserved 🙂

This place was very underwhelming to me. I came at late lunch hour (2pm) on a Wednesday. They weren’t busy yet I waited 15 minutes to get sat while the hostess took phone calls before the customer standing in front of her. The table was nice and the views were great. I ordered a bowl of chowder which was admittedly delicious but it was also room temperature which was a tad off putting. The bread they served with the soup was delicious. I had the almond crusted scallops as an entree. They were perfectly cooked but simultaneously very forgettable. There wasn’t much flavor to them and the sauce was very mild; in my opinion not a great pair. The asparagus medley was good but the potatoes beneath again, very forgettable. There’s much better places to eat in the city but the view here is among the best. My server Marylou was a sweetheart – my biggest demerits are for the hostess, lukewarm soup and super okay entree. When you’re paying $50 a person for lunch, you should leave with a smile on your face.

We went here for my birthday as I have heard so many times that this is one of the best restaurants in town. Honestly, I was not that impressed. The calamari, bread, crab stuffed halibut, hamburger, and drinks were pretty good. Good, but not great. The prime rib was stringy, bordering on inedible, the crab and artichoke dip was barely warm, the pasta was overcooked, etc. I was really expecting more from this place, especiallyfor the price. The service was good and there was a free piece of cake for my birthday so.. there’s that anyway. I would have given 2 stars but the waitress really was nice and tried to make it a special night. I won’t be back unless someone else is paying. There are just too many restaurants downtown that have better food and better prices.

I definitely recommend this restaurant for sure. It’s a little pricey but great for a special occasion. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is my husband’s Salmon was pretty dry and they served it without the sauce he had to ask for it. He ordered the almond encrusted scallops as well and they were not the best. From a man that absolutely loves scallops i was very surprised. My meal however was fabulous 👌. The bread and appetizer came but within minutes of our entree so the timing was a bit off but they were very busy so i get it. Our waitress was very sweet. The key lime pie was great and we come from Florida! This was my birthday dinner and they did not disappoint.

Great service, great food and amazing view. We came here for our anniversary and when we got to the table, there were these ribbons and they gave us complimentary desert. It was so good. Our server, Alex was amazing and very attentive. Thank you 🙂

My first time visiting Anchorage and I came here for my birthday. The cocktails are excellent, but a bit pricey. The French onion soup is delicious. Our waiter Josh was great and gave good dish recommendations. My husband got the halibut cheeks which were very tasty. I’m taking away a star because the lead hostess was kind of rude. I chose this restaurant because I heard it had a great view of the water, but we were originally seated at a table where I couldn’t see out the window at all. We asked the lead hostess if we could wait for a different table or to even sit at the bar where there were empty seats because it was a special occasion (there were several other parties waiting and one of them even offered to take the table from us) and she got a bit snippy. The other hostess was very nice however and was able to quickly find another table.

A co-worker and myself decided to stop at Sullivan’s after a long day at work! The staff is always nice and very personable. This go around we met the Executive Chef, who blessed us with 2 unique dishes and O-M-,G they were so delicious. The chicken was crispy and the house made sauce was exquisite. I am not a dessert person or really into sweets but if that pastry was on the menu I would most definitely indulge. Even after trying those dishes, I had the steak frites, and everything was outstanding. I have been here plenty of times and this visit just solidifies why I continue to return. Even the Manager helps out behind the bar when it is needed. Definitely a place to try out and I will be back soon!!

Food has really good flavor! You can smell the flavors of the steak as soon as you walk into the restaurant. Expect to spend some $, but it is well worth it. Treat yourself! Our server was on point and constantly checked in on us. Highly recommend.

We were there as part of a tour group of 16 people. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The server was hurried and made me feel I was in the way of the next group. I know they were busy with the group but other group events I didn’t feel this way. The food arrived hot and very appealing. The Delmonico steak was tender and juicy. It had wonderful flavor and texture. The salmon was tender and flaky. The taste and texture were fantastic. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and tasty. The spinach had a good taste and texture. I really enjoyed the cheesecake. It was smooth and creamy with good density. It was a very pleasant experience with new friends.

Food was tasty! The Blueberry lemon drop made by Adam the bartender was fantastic!! Like WOW! We got the beef Wellington bites to start, very good! I’ve never seen those on a menu before so I couldn’t pass it up! Went for the prix fixie meal & chose the crab & shrimp bisque, 6oz filet, mash potatoes, side wedge salad, & bananas foster for desert. Everything was delicious, especially the desert which I had to get to go because I felt like I was going to explode! I would give a 5 star, but our table service was horrible. I know it was a busy Saturday night but it was just extra bad. We didn’t even know bread/butter came standard until I went to the. bathroom & noticed everyone had some but us. We had reservations at 7pm & didn’t get our main course until 930pm, which is a bit too long of a wait in my opinion. I would return but probably on a weekday instead.

Excellent overall service and great atmosphere. Very tranquil. The food was delicious. My favorite, the seared ahi tuna was well balanced and the cajun spices just elevated the dish. The mashed potatoes was creamy and smooth. A bit tad salty for my own personal taste but good nevertheless. The crab cakes were delicious. Great consistency, sweet and paired well with the cabbage and carrots. The shrimp and lobster bisque was a bit of a surprise. I was expecting sweet delicate taste of the lobster and shrimp but was spicy. It deviates from the traditional dish but enjoyed it.
