What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Been living in these apartments for over 3 years. Love the pools, the access to many stores, how close my kids school is and highways. Just upgraded to a 3 bedroom and the floor plan is very spacious and has great ambient. Very homey feel with a friendly front office that are always willing to help with any issues with the apartment. Will definitely be recommending this place to anyone looking for an apartment. Forgot to mention they are law enforcement friendly and as a disabled retired army veteran, it helps to relate with my neighbors.
Would suggest doing something about the parking, since I have seen people park their vehicles in handicap spots due to an unfinished parking lot in back area. Other than that, this place is amazing and upscale with great rental rates. 🙏😊🤗

  2. Great amenities and safe haven you can call home.Very approachable and professional staff members! Kudos to all of you guys.

  3. Maintenance sucks. Under qualified individuals. Always place the issues was resolved when it wasn’t. Have to resubmit orders. I believe they’re lazy. Roaches are so hard to get rid of. It took them over a month after we moved in to get help with the roaches due to the complex not having a fumigating schedule or contracted company to do so. Moving ac needed repair, dryer, bathroom sinks, and bathtub due to flooding, and now we only get hot water for less than 10 minutes. There’s a severe parking space problem and there’s individuals stealing packages. Not feeling very safe here lately. Gym equipment broken and pools are not taken care of.

  4. Continues to be a bad place! Talk about harassment. We had a maintenance order in place because once again our shower doesn’t work. I’m Pregnant and had to use the restroom, then maintenance arrived at the time I was using the restroom & proceeded with banging on my front door and then he had the audacity to come our bedroom window and kept on knocking harshly. My anxiety went so high I completely shut down for the rest of the day. Oh and they placed the work order as completed when all they did was disturb the peace.

  5. We’ve helped many tenants move in and move out and have always seen he apartments themselves are spacious and well-maintained. Overall, I highly recommend Dorel Apartments to anyone looking for a great place to live in Laredo.

We’ve enjoyed living here so far. We are currently in a townhome and they are pretty nice and up-to-date. Staff is very nice and every time I run into a maintenance, they appear friendly. Carmel offers great pools, gym, parks, etc. Our biggest issue here is parking. Just because your building is in a certain location doesn’t mean you will get to park there. We can never find good parking because it’s always taken up by people in other buildings, their guests, etc. We used to live in value apartments where every unit was guaranteed one parking spot and extra cars were on a first come first serve basis. It would be nice if Carmel did something similar.

Pros: Maintenance always prompt, and amazing attitude. Cons: If you want to be given the stink eye and have staff speak to you in a rude and disrespectful tone, Carmel is the place for you! Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The appliances are all out of date and in terrible condition. The complex has an insane pigeon problem, and the facilities are lackluster. Finally, the pool is disgusting. Would not recommend. Note: Don’t comment on this post, Carmel. The only reason I didn’t rate his 0 stars is because Google won’t let me.

We had a nice experience living in Your community. However, I think your pet policy needs to be reviewed and followed strictly. People bring out their dogs to corridors to defecate and pass urine without cleaning them. They hardly make use of the pet area. Some walk with dogs without proper latches and end up harassing and scaring others. Please look into this carefully. Overall, You guys are doing an amazing job there.

Loved there for 2 years and it was really pleasant. The maintenance team did their best job every time and they kept the areas looking good. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Cienega.

Update to March 2023 review. There’s no reason to rent here at this price when there are more recently constructed apartments available. Scroll to last photos to see water damage in the unit. If you look at other reviews, you’ll see plumbing problems abound. I submitted a work order in March because the HVAC drip tray was overflowing. They came, applied a cleaner, and vacuumed it out. I knew at the time this would be inadequate. It was. I arrived home in May to an inch of water on the floor that seeped out from the wall. Drywall was saturated and deteriorating, and water was leaking past an outlet. Maintenance came and determined a gameplan. They opened up the wall (pics). They did the repairs, but declined to rip out all the affected drywall. Mold/mildew was treated several times, and the affected space was dried out, patched, and painted quickly. No quibbles there, but if this happens to you, I recommend you call the city health department to take samples before they treat. I was away and wasn’t able. But it took water pooling on the floor to get it fixed properly vs. March work order. Meantime, foul air. I’ve spent $600 on air purifiers for peace of mind. The property manager came by unannounced and offered to waive an early termination fee if I paid a reletting charge. I needed to let her know same day if that was what I wanted to do. I told her to leave because that’s absurd. I called the off-site first-line supervisor at First Choice. She was unresponsive to my request to extend my lease at the present rate as I will be shopping for a house next fall. Basically offered the same early lease termination terms with more flexible notice. I offered to take down this review, and noted if they couldn’t do that for me, I would start posting similar reviews elsewhere. She said that was a threat. Lol. They want me out and to turn the unit over, renovate, and then upcharge. It’s typical Texas property management company behavior and why I’m looking to buy before 2024. Other things: They recently renovated the unit across the hall from me. A woman with small children moved in. A month later, half the new flooring for that unit had been torn out, and the unit remained under construction for 6 weeks while they repaired. More dated and poorly maintained plumbing. Amazing they would renovate without addressing these aging systems. Short-term profits > long-term habitability. The complex is worse for the wear. The front gate only functions rarely. The back fence is in disrepair, and javelina and raccoons routinely come and scatter trash (pics). At some point a water pipe in the lot was repaired. There’s just been an unpaved pothole ever since (pics). Grass growing in gutters (pics). Gutter dispersal trays installed backwards so mosquitos have nice little ponds in which to breed. Local labor market strikes again. It’s just worn out. They’ll throw some paint and offer you dated (and thus contractor’s discount special) farmhouse gray renovations. Maintenance does okay, is polite, and keeps you informed, but my read is that they’re fighting an uphill battle. Oh, and the third party billing company that processes utility charges was late with the May bills, so they distributed over 100 notices across the complex advising people to pay by cashier’s check or money order ASAP. I called and asked if I could just pay the balance on the portal. I could. Welcome to banal automatic software responses that employees carry out. Seems like a waste of everyone’s’ time and effort for their mistake. I wonder how many dropped off money orders when an email apologizing for the inconvenience and asking residents to make a payment on the portal would have done it. There’s no discount for living in a complex with these problems, so try somewhere else. (Cibolo, Shiloh, Villas Laredo, etc.) It’s not worth the headaches, and my experience has led me to the decision to buy a house because I’m just done with Laredo businesses and Texas property management companies. Texans accept a lot of bad treatment by the big money. Yee-haw indeed.

IF I COULD RATE LOWER I WOULD PLEASE DO NOT RENT AT CIENEGA APARTMENTS IN LAREDO, the staff is extremely rude, and disrespectful, my mom who lives there has been asking for maintenance since January, they haven’t done anything, left her restroom without light for 4 months, haven’t fixed the dryer since then. Cabinets are falling apart, the towel holder fell by just touching it. DEFINITELY NOT LUXURY. Also infested with ROACHES!

I strongly suggest not moving into these apartments. From day one there were several issues. Maintenance took over a month sometimes to fulfill work orders, management is extremely unprofessional and rude, and complex grounds were not well maintained. During my final month there, I had a really unfortunate experience with management, in which they pre leased my apartment without my knowledge. It was a relentless struggle to get them to extend my lease so I wasn’t homeless for two weeks while I was waiting to move into my new apartment. Overall, I had a pretty terrible experience living here.
