What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I used to tell people this was the best Kroger you could go to but in the past few years it has gone completely downhill, closing at eleven is a middle finger to everyone in the service industry if you’re a cook a server a bartender or anyone who works late in a tourist area you have to drive to a different county to go to food lion to do your shopping, merchandise is inconsistent or just flat unavailable, and every time I go in there are fewer employees to help you out and more self checkout the majority of which is often closed down for the night. I would advise anyone to give up on this shoddy operation and take your business elsewhere.

  2. Personally I think the employees do a good job at this Westlake Kroger..I do get tired of hearing them bad mouth their managers though. On the last two visits I’ve heard employees talking bad about their management. They called the store manager some very bad names.
That’s not a good look for the store.
A couple times cashiers have given me too much change back. I was given $4 over one time. Not everyone will return to tell you your mistake. Be careful.

  3. The bakery needs to be more experienced, and the store will NOT honor corrections or discounts of poor quality icing decoration by their bakery cake person. My cake looked like a child did it, for it was a rush job. I also ordered a “WHITE” cake and received a yellow cake. The manager and bakery department became hateful and rude to my husband at pickup. I called, and they were rude to me. I had to call the district office, and the lady at the district was very nice and helpful. DO NOT BUY CUSTOM CAKES FROM THIS LOCATION

  4. Kroger used to be my go grocery store but I will never willingly shop in this store again. They have reduced the number of checkout clerks to one and are depending on everyone to do self checkout. Self checkout is ok but only if it works. Checking out was the most frustrating 20 minutes I have ever experienced in a grocery store. The clerk trying to managed all the self checkouts was overwhelmed as I wasn’t the only customer experiencing issues. He was trying hard. I’m not sure if is a staffing issue or money saving decision.

  5. Don’t go to this location after 8 or 9 pm. The customer service counter will almost certainly be closed, and good luck getting any attention from the attendants at the self check out. If they aren’t busy playing tag or joking around with the other employees you can bet they’re locked into their smartphone. If you do manage to get some sort of acknowledgement, bet on it being followed by sighs and being made to feel like you severely inconvenienced them and you owe them an apology for even being in the store in the first place. I’ve had to drive 30 minutes to the Vinton Kroger 8 times in the past 2 weeks just to load money onto my chime card, a simple 2 minute procedure that the self check out attendants at that location gladly perform. I wish upper management would do a quality control check on the Westlake store.

    *edit*
9:15 on June 22 and the customer service is closed. Also nobody working knows how to load money onto a chime bank card. So I now have to make an hour and fifteen minute round trip to another county to put money on my card. A transaction that every self checkout attendant at that store easily does. Westlake Kroger is a joke!
