What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. This store has never been great in this town since they moved locations. However, it used to be clean. Now, I don’t think the floor has been cleaned there in months; it’s extremely dirty. The produce has been hit or miss for years but it’s almost always rotting now. I’m not sure if they plan to remodel, and that’s why it’s in such disarray, but months of caked dirt on the floor/in coolers in a building full of food is not a good idea.
This store is packed full of customers everyday and should be clean, can’t be money issues.
The one upside is the staff are nice. I only shop here in emergency otherwise I travel to the next town for groceries now.

  2. This Kroger has gone down hill. Frequently out of a lot of items. Need to check expiration dates and produce selection is unreliable. But the worst thing is the wait for the check out. Even on a weekday afternoon when it’s not expected to be busy it’s an outrageous wait time. Forget it around the holidays or in the evening after the workday

  3. Shelves not stocked, Kroger brand items are garbage, self checkout is slow and ridiculous, staff is incompetent, layout of store is stupid. I can’t think of anything else to say about how bad this store is operated.

  4. I always have an average experience shopping here. Never amazing, never super disappointed- until today.

The self checkout attendant on the side closer to the Starbucks (USHA I think was her name) was VERY disrespectful. When I pulled my cart up to the U scan + conveyor belt she literally walked up to me and just stared til asked her if she needed anything.

During scanning, I apparently put two items on the belt that didn’t scan properly.

She yelled “SIR! YOU NEED TO PUT THAT PHONE DOWN” and walked up, took items off the belt and took far too long to explain to me how to use the machine.

I used to work here and I know what to do. I get that people make mistakes and some people need to be helped, but she was so arrogant and was speaking to me like I was a total idiot. And demanded I get off the phone, which got under my skin.

Then left me with a sly remark saying “you got a lot of groceries for self check out”

Not to mention the bagger there was sitting at the end of the conveyor belt doing literally nothing. I bagged like half my groceries while a bagger watched.

I hope I’m just having a bad day, but I can tell you if I see that USHA woman at self check out, I will be walking to the other side of the store.

USHA is rude and speaks to you like an idiot.

  5. I used to love shopping at Kroger. Unfortunately, the past couple of years it feels like every time I’m looking for something, they no longer carry it or they’re out of it. I constantly have to bag my own groceries. My app doesn’t link correctly so every time I miss out on money and I have to go to customer service for a refund. Some of the people are okay in the store. Some are quite rude. There’s a cashier who constantly wants to give my children candy without asking my permission. Children could be diabetic or have allergies. And I don’t appreciate having to do the five for five. Everything is a treasure hunt. I honestly miss the paper coupons because things don’t want to load and then my husband who is supposed to have a shared account, gets completely different offers than I do. It’s very stressful. I also don’t appreciate their record-breaking profits when they’re just taking advantage of covid and post covid times. They realize people will pay more and so they charge more. And it’s not just a little bit. Every time I go into the store things have raised 30 or 40 cents. It’s ludicrous. I shop at other stores that don’t do this, so I go to Kroger less and less.

How to Shop Smart at Kroger Vandalia OH: A Quick Tutorial

Shopping at Kroger can be an enjoyable experience with a little planning and know-how. Here are some simple guidelines to help you navigate through the grocery store efficiently:

  • Create a Shopping List: Before heading to Kroger, make a list of the items you need. This will help you stay organized and prevent impulse buying.
  • Check the Weekly Ad: Kroger releases a weekly ad with sales and promotions. Take a quick look at the ad to see if any of the items on your list are on sale. This can help you save money on your grocery bill.
  • Use Digital Coupons: Kroger has a digital coupon program that allows you to load coupons directly onto your shopper card. Before shopping, check the Kroger website or app for available coupons and load them onto your card. These coupons will be automatically applied at checkout when you scan your card.
  • Bring Your Reusable Bags: Kroger encourages shoppers to bring their own bags by offering a discount for each reusable bag used. Remember to bring your reusable bags to save some money and reduce plastic waste.
  • Compare Prices: Take a moment to compare the prices of different brands or sizes of the same product. Kroger often offers store-brand alternatives that are more affordable than name brands. The price per unit or ounce is usually provided on the shelf tag, making it easy to determine which product offers the best value.
  • Check Expiration Dates: Before putting an item in your cart, check the expiration date to ensure freshness. Kroger has a policy of removing expired products from the shelves, but it’s always good to double-check.
  • Take Advantage of ClickList: Kroger’s ClickList service allows you to order your groceries online and pick them up at the store. This is a convenient option if you’re short on time or prefer not to navigate the aisles.
  • Look for Manager’s Specials: Kroger often has Manager’s Specials, where they reduce the price of products nearing their expiration date. Keep an eye out for these deals, as they can offer significant savings.
  • Avoid Shopping on Busy Days: If possible, try to avoid shopping at Kroger during peak hours or on busy days like weekends. Shopping during off-peak times can make your trip more enjoyable and less crowded.

By following these simple guidelines, you can have a smooth and efficient shopping experience at Kroger while saving money and finding the best deals.
