What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Great deals, however, its extremely haphazardly thrown together, particularly on the 3rd floor. I do not blame the workers for that though. Every time I go there that’s all I see – employees constantly cleaning up after customers, because customers that go here seem to have no problem with just making a total mess, ripping everything off the hangers, throwing stuff wherever, its terrible.

My only real criticism of the store itself, which would lay on management, is the actual cleanliness. Not once have I ever smelled any cleaning products or saw anyone using any cleaning products, I’ve never walked anywhere in this location and thought, “this smells clean”. Frankly, it smells like and just feels like they do not use cleaning products anywhere.

  2. Incredible Macy’s location. I usually frequent the Oakland mall store, but for my first time here the service was top notch. I came to look at the Macy’s backstage area, but the girl at the M.A.C. counter caught my attention and I ended up purchasing some new lipstick.

  3. Horrible service: My mother and I were trying to buy her a handbag. It was 3 employees conversing about a bag. My mother asked one of them to help her, and the lady with an attitude said I’ll be over there in a minute. They looked at the bag for another 5 minutes, and they all walked to the back. We waited 20 minutes, and I went and asked someone from jewelry to help us. By this time, my mom was frustrated, and we left. This is the worst service I have ever had at a department store. With in person shopping slowly fading away, you would think you would get better customer service. It makes sense why online shopping is taking over. You don’t have to leave the house or deal with people’s attitudes that are in the customer service business.

  4. Store was well organized and had a nice vibe. Doesn’t seem to be falling behind like Sears did and the Bay is similarly doing. There was plenty of people working, there was different sections with colour and headers for the brand it offered there. Was nice to see a department store still thriving.

  5. Bad customer service. The cashier moves to slowly and goes talking to her coworker leaving me waiting for long.

I went to the Somerset location with a picture of a nursery room glider I wanted to order. The associate told me I had to go to the Troy location to order the glider. He indicated it would be best for me to try it out because I will not be able to return the glider if I’m not satisfied. I asked him to check to see if the glider was at the Troy location. He said he cannot access that information. The associate at the Troy location took one look at the picture and indicated the glider is an internet based product and it is unavailable to “try out”. There was no reason for me to go to the Troy location. I could have ordered from the Somerset location. The associate didn’t take the time to research the product. For some unknown reason, the associate did not want to fill my order.

Disorganized. Store has clothes thrown all around. The staff was friendly. Need a better manager to help guide the staff in keeping the store, organized, and clean. They place looks like a junk store. Macy’s should have more pride in keeping their store looking nice. Nordstrom does a great job. I’m sure Macy’s could, too. Only two dressing rooms open with long line would be nice to open more.

The cashier in the men’s department kept hustling me to open up a credit card. She wouldn’t stop. She then resorted to getting me to sign up for their points/star system. I didn’t want to do that, either. She wouldn’t stop. I gave in finally. This whole experience made me wants to just start being rude to people in retail. I should have said, “Stop. I am no longer interested in making a purchase here.” I really did not appreciate it at all, being hassled like this. I hope Macy’s in general doesn’t last, as these tactics for people to give their personal data away is absolutely unacceptable. She probably gets in trouble, if people purchase something freely, without a Macy’s credit card or being in their system. The new account discount didn’t even apply to the purchase! My boyfriend failed to enter in my number at the time of purchase, and she just sort of looked at me and laughed. If she was a good cashier, she’d reverse the purchase, then redo it to ensure all the data I provided made a difference in my purchase. Instead, she just played me. But, that’s okay! This instance is proof as to why people don’t shop in stores anymore. And, now all these stores are closing! Hope you’re all proud of yourselves!

Probably one of the nicest Macy’s in the country, The staff is knowledgeable about their products. I spoke to several wonderful women about the latest trends and new products coming out. What particularly impressed me were the associates in the fragrance department. They knew their products and were able to describe the minute notes of a fragrance. The slight bits of citrus the warm sweat summery scents the splash of spice for the winter line… if you need a makeover this is the right place.

Macy’s is in a sad state… I spent half an hour looking for a sales person. Their men’s shoe selection is non-existent if you wear any over a size 9… I’m wondering if they’re preparing to be an online only store, sure feels that way. Man, I miss Hudsons and Marshall Fields…

The ToysRUs dept was good. Many toys had no price on it, though. I was with my 4 year old granddaughter who loved being able to walk through, look & touch the toys! We loved looking at the fancy holiday dresses. We found one for only $22 ! And we even wrote a letter to Santa!
