What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Good place to buy wholesale items
Parking is difficult. Not enough spits for all the customers.
Costco kinda makes you buy things you don’t want and end up spending more.
This is their sales tactics and its amazing how customers fail for it

  2. Selection was awesome, found everything I needed but when it was time to check out my debit card was in my boyfriends wallet so I grabbed it from him and the cashier told me I couldn’t pay with it because my boyfriend doesn’t have a Costco card, but I have one. She refused to let us pay with that card and luckily I had some cash so we were able to pay, now it wouldn’t have been a big deal but the cashier was unbelievably rude about it and when we tried to explain she wouldn’t have it and kept saying we couldn’t use that card. As we were leaving she kept making rude comments.
I’ve never had a bad experience at Costco but I won’t be returning to this location after that interaction.

  3. Fairly good deals for bulk quantities but this place is a zoo. Checkout takes too long. Parking is scarce. And every time you go it’s unbelievably overcrowded. Gotta love when they try to upsell you to a higher membership half the time you checkout. Not sure it’s worth it.

  4. Busy place all the time. Worth the trip on any given day thou! Line ups to check out are long however they move along quickly! There are a few self check outs now, closer to the pharmacy area. (Hopefully for those with very few items)

  5. I recommend it for basics like milk, eggs, tissues, detergent, toothpaste, multivitamins. You get everything here in an affordable rate as compared to other stores. However, most items are huge and in bulk, good for families and groups.

Great place for shopping. Get their executive membership because it’ll save you enough money if you buy gas at Costco gas station and use it to purchase things from Costco. My cash rebate was over $200 from last year. Gas savings and loan justified the annual $120 fee. Do you not only save up to 50% per gallon on the gas price, then you get 4% credit card rebate. Not bad!

Unique: New Zealand Whole Halal Lamb available at this Costco Location. Entrance is a little too crowded. Quite spacious. Large selection of goods. Always good quality.

Who doesn’t love Costco? Well, I know a few who don’t. This place is a constant zoo—packed with shoppers all day, every day. I love it. Even though it’s always busy, people are courteous, the checkout lines move efficiently, and there are always so many sample stations where you can try the latest products on offer. The bakery section is AMAZING, the booze is cheap, the meat is prime. Deals run from fair to excellent. There are clothes, plants, toilets, foodstuffs, kayaks, you name it. Only reason not to go is if you really don’t enjoy crowds or experience social anxiety. Otherwise, get your butt to Costco.

P.S. For those who HATE crowds, but would otherwise love to shop at Costco, check out BJ’s Warehouse. It’s just about the same thing (minus the many free samples), but it’s almost always deserted! The deals are comparable, as is the quality of the products. It’s a very well-kept secret. Those who know, know.

I can’t understand the obsession people have with Costco. Going back to Sam’s for the following reasons: 1. Price – it’s not even close, at least 10-25%cheaper 2. Scan and go – why would you want to wait in line? 3. Store layout – the lack of signage in Costco is infuriating and insulting and consistently adds more wandering time 4. Prepared foods – the chicken salad and enchiladas at Sam’s club absolutely blow Costco out of the water by a significant margin 5. General crowds and free samples – if it’s that important to you to get free samples and have a million people constantly standing around in the way, then sure go to Costco.

The only benefit I see is some different brands but overall it’s way overhyped.

I’m about fed up with Costco and the rude employees. I am weeks away from giving birth to my first child; Costco supposedly implemented checking the membership pictures at the self check out while your waiting for one to open up. (Never heard of this or have had this done before) This woman asks me to show the membership…. 1. You already show the membership to get in…. So I said she can see the membership when I go up to scan for check out. She asked again, and I told her the same thing.

She then calls the manager and tells me to step aside. One of the scanners opens up and I proceeded to go to check out. She jumps in front of the cart and forcefully pushes the cart back onto my stomach!

At this point you can imagine I’m upset. The manager comes up and explains this new process they’re implementing. I explain to her my frustration, being pregnant and that employee going overboard about the membership. I’m at Costco with my grandmother and she went to look for pitcher for drinks for my baby shower, TOMORROW, and dealing with that employee and her aggressiveness was too much!

Like really, this membership thing is that serious that you have to assault me by pushing the basket that has items in it, back onto my stomach… absolutely ridiculous…

Talk about being a member with Costco since they first came to Michigan… 25+ years. This is how y’all treat members… alright costco.

I’ve been a Costco member almost as long as they’ve been open, and this is where I started. The staff is wonderful! They’re like family😊. The store is well equipped, clean, and easy to get around. I’ve been serviced by the store, Optometrist, pharmacy, bakery, Tire Center, gas station, AND Costco Travel, and loved it all. Always great quality products and prices, and an easy process. I love Costco Wholesale, and I love this store!

Absolutely the best choice for shopping. I like Costco for many specific reasons Fresh or return no questions asked Guaranteed quality or return no questions asked Cheapest gas and 5% discount for membership and cca use to buy it Products sold are miticulously selected for value and quality. I returned a five year old BBQ that failed they did not any questions, gave me a brand new one, and the price went down from five years ago so I actually received $150.00 cash back. No other store can ever claim to have that kind of customer service. Costco has my confidence every time. Keep up the awesome work.

Sub par Costco experience. Expect employees moving pallets, and other customers to ram their cart into yours the entire time. This place is never slow, it’s always busy, getting in and out is also a huge nightmare because of the gas station line. It’s impossible to get in and out seamlessly. Produce is constantly going bad a day or two after buying. Their fresh meal items sit so long they often expire within a few days of buying. Products often go out of stock or this store never ends up getting certain items at all. The self checkout is awful, the line goes down the main aisle making it impossible to shop without asking everyone in line to move every single time you enter and exit an aisle. Not to mention if you’re in the line itself, and constantly having to adjust. The back aisles are so crammed with pallets you’d be lucky to fit a single cart through, so it’s a constant game of excuse me and trying to get through other people. The membership card crack down has made things even worse as it slows everything down. The time investment to save a few bucks isn’t really worth it considering the hassle you have to go through to shop here.

Granted, it was July 4th weekend, but holy checkout lines Batman, this Costco was EXTREMELY busy.

We actually just stopped for gas and decided to use the bathroom and grab a quick bite to eat. Once we were able to navigate the horde of shoppers checking out (with very full carts) we found the bathrooms clean and well maintained as usual and the food court line, thanks to the new self-serve ordering kiosk, was quick and easy.

I am for sure a Costco fan and that’s why I couldnt give the place less then 4 stars. It is a bit wishy washy on the type of service you may receive at this location depending on when you go. I’ve had both good and bad experiences and this is forsure one of the busier locations and can also get a bit messy. One other thing is other locations will pull stuff down if needed from the higher shelf but was told at this location they only can while they are closed.

Costco in Detroit MI: Do’s and Don’ts Every Shopper Should Know

When shopping at Costco, there are a few rules and guidelines to keep in mind to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. These rules are designed to maintain a safe environment and provide a fair shopping experience for all members. It’s important to familiarize yourself with these rules before your visit to Costco.

Here are some do’s and don’ts to keep in mind while shopping at Costco:

  • Do have a Costco membership: Only Costco members or guests accompanied by a member can shop at Costco. Make sure to bring your membership card or use the Costco app for identification.
  • Don’t bring non-members or pets: As a member-only warehouse, Costco does not allow non-members to shop on their own. Additionally, pets are not permitted in most Costco locations (except for service animals).
  • Do bring your own bags: Costco encourages shoppers to bring their own reusable bags or boxes to pack their purchases. While Costco provides boxes, bringing your own bags can help reduce waste.
  • Don’t return used electronics: Costco has a generous return policy, but it does not apply to certain items like used electronics. Make sure to review the return policy for specific guidelines.
  • Do check the prices: Costco offers competitive prices, but it’s always a good idea to compare prices with other retailers. Keep in mind that some items may be sold in larger quantities, so price per unit should be considered.
  • Don’t forget to check the expiration dates: While Costco typically sells items in bulk, it’s essential to check expiration dates, especially for perishable products. Make sure you can consume or use the products before they expire.
  • Do sample products: Costco is known for its sampling stations where you can try various food and beverage products before making a purchase. Take advantage of these opportunities to discover new favorites.
  • Don’t abuse the return policy: While Costco has a lenient return policy, it should not be exploited. Returning items that have been extensively used or abusing the policy may lead to repercussions.
  • Do check for special promotions: Costco regularly offers additional discounts or promotions on various items. Look out for these special offers to maximize your savings.
  • Don’t block the aisles: During busy times, it’s important to be mindful of other shoppers. Avoid blocking the aisles with your cart or spending an excessive amount of time in one location.

By following these rules and guidelines, you can have a pleasant and productive shopping experience at Costco.
