Top Currys PC World Alternatives in United Kingdom

Currys (branded as Currys PC World between 2010 and 2021) is a British electrical retailer and aftercare service provider operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland, specialising in white goods, consumer electronics, computers and mobile phones.
Established as a bicycle retailer in 1927, Currys expanded the range of goods sold and from the 1960s became a major retailer of household electrical items. In 1984 the company was bought by rival retailer Dixons, and the Currys brand was used for all outlets of the combined company. From 2008, the business turned away from shops in town centres to larger out-of-town stores under the Currys PC World brand, combining the operations of Currys with Dixon's PC World under one roof; after the formation of Dixons Carphone in 2014, the stores gained Carphone Warehouse departments. It was announced in July 2021 that all Currys PC World stores would be rebranded to Currys.

What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Despite all the negative reviews, I decided to visit the store on 25 November 2023. I entered the store and headed to the Apple section, after browsing for about 2 minutes, one of the employees came over and asked if I needed any assistance. I explained what I was looking for, and the young lady checked if the device I wanted to buy was in stock. Since it was available, she took me to the till, took my payment, and brought me the laptop in a matter of minutes. She was polite and attentive, I was in an out under 10 minutes, I feel that I was very well looked after.

  2. You practically have to beg to get served. 3 staff sitting around the gaming area, and just pointed me in the direction of one of the items. Absolutely ridiculous service. Ended up buying the TV and bits from John Lewis. Same price, and exceptional service.

  3. Picked up order today. No large carrier bags so had to carry big ps5 box through Croydon car park could have easily been robbed. How can a store this big expect people to walk off without bags with a huge boxed open item.
0 PS5 games in store even though there are lots available online it says.
Also 0 customer service skills and lacking any competent staff, was blatantly ignored at checkout as members of staff chatting amongst them and not actually working.

  4. Curry’s as a company overall aren’t particularly known for their great customer service or outstanding delivery of service. Branch 2138 Croydon, Purley Way however are prime examples of failing company who lack the simple disciplines to delivery exceptional service. After deciding on a set of speakers which according to their in-store POS was advertised at £69 the front desk informed me that it is actually £99 and cannot honour the advertised price. Obviously I wasn’t particularly happy and the employee said I must get the manager on the other side of the store. To my respond I said I don’t need to do anything, I don’t work here, I don’t know him and I’m not willing to do 50% of your job you go get him. After explaining the situation the manager “Martin” uses the excuse “Our competitors change their prices every 5 minutes, we do not have the capacity to constantly change our price tags.”

I know legally they now no longer need to sell the advertised price. But is £30 more valuable than the customer experience?

Anyhow after being fed up with the debate I explicitly stated “I would like a receipt emailed me to me” as I wanted the opportunity to provide a constructive feedback via their customer feedback form. They did not do this either.

And I can tell you for a fact these scores are directly linked to their bonus’. Should the store satisfaction survey fall below the company required threshold for the store employees do not receive their bonus’/commission for that month. Just so coincidental that this unhappy customer wasn’t given the opportunity to provide some constructive feedback.

    Yours Sincerely.
