Not a safe place for children. Some of the content in the children’s section is not age-appropriate, and defintely not uplifting. If you take your kids, monitor closely what books they’re reading.

Twice recently, when I returned to the NBPL after a two and a half year pandemic absence, I was greeting and assisted by very helpful staff. They updated my membership card, and went off to look for books for me and my companion. (My companion and I use walkers, and perhaps that motivated them to extend extra assistance). In any case, being served so efficiently and pleasantly by the women at the desk was an uplifting experience that my companion and I remarked upon after we left. Thank you to them and all the staff at the library. I forgot to mention being greeted at the door and assisted by the security man. That was also a bright moment in our experience. Thank you everyone! Mae Kierans

Amazing library. Primarily spend time in the children’s section which is a very good size. All the librarians are so nice and will answer any questions you have.

Every worker there is so caring and understanding.

Great place! What are we going to do without public libraries? After 4 hours in the car, it is relaxing to visit the library with friendly workers. We chill there for a couple of hours before heading to the jungle(Algonquin Provincial Park).

Very unfriendly and rude staff. Whenever I go there they stare at me as if im an alien. Hate this place and would not recommend anyone going to this oversized trash can.

Liam Sangster and his team are great to work with. We had a very professional and relaxing experience.

It’s a rarity to find a lawyer who wants to educate there clients so we understand the processes and levels of expectations. We will continue to use them and recommend them to anyone requiring there legal services.

Never reply to emails, never call back, and have been trying to resolve an issue for years now without any progress on their end (at this point I believe they’ve made a mistake and are failing to acknowledge or rectify it). Have worked in the legal field for a decade and would absolutely not recommend this firm.

A notary public (a.k.a. notary or public notary; pl. notaries public) of the common law is a public officer constituted by law to serve the public in non-contentious matters usually concerned with general financial transactions, estates, deeds, powers-of-attorney, and foreign and international business. A notary's main functions are to validate the signature of a person (for purposes of signing a document); administer oaths and affirmations; take affidavits and statutory declarations, including from witnesses; authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents; take acknowledgments (e.g., of deeds and other conveyances); provide notice of foreign drafts; provide exemplifications and notarial copies; and, to perform certain other official acts depending on the jurisdiction. Such transactions are known as notarial acts, or more commonly, notarizations. The term notary public only refers to common-law notaries and should not be confused with civil-law notaries. With the exceptions of Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Quebec (whose private law is based on civil law), and British Columbia (whose notarial tradition stems from scrivener notary practice), a notary public in the rest of the United States and most of Canada has powers that are far more limited than those of civil-law or other common-law notaries, both of whom are qualified lawyers admitted to the bar: such notaries may be referred to as notaries-at-law or lawyer notaries. Therefore, at common law, notarial service is distinctly different from the practice of law, and giving legal advice and preparing legal instruments is forbidden to lay notaries such as those appointed throughout most of the United States. Despite these distinctions, lawyers in the United States may apply to become notaries, and this class of notary is allowed to provide legal advice, such as determining the type of act required (affidavit, acknowledgment, etc.).

The Biggest Notary Public Services in Canada

When it comes to Notary Public Services, North Bay offers a variety of alternatives to choose from. Below are three top options that are popular in the area:

  • 1. Local Law Firms: Many law firms in North Bay have notary public services available. This option is advantageous because notaries at law firms have a strong understanding of legal documents and can provide guidance and advice if needed. They can also handle a wide range of notarial services, such as witnessing signatures and administering oaths. Law firm notaries often have flexible working hours to accommodate clients’ schedules.
  • 2. Postal Services: Several postal service providers, such as Canada Post, offer notary public services. This can be a convenient option, particularly for individuals who might need to send notarized documents through the mail. Postal service providers usually have set hours, making it easier to plan a visit. However, it’s important to note that the availability may vary depending on the specific postal outlet, so it’s advisable to call ahead and confirm.
  • 3. Mobile Notary Services: Mobile notary services bring convenience to a new level. These notaries can travel directly to your home, office, or any location that suits you. Mobile notaries are particularly helpful for individuals with mobility or time constraints, as they can accommodate your schedule. They can assist with various notarial services and can be easily contacted through their websites or by phone. However, it’s important to inquire about additional fees associated with this service.

Regardless of the alternative you choose, it’s important to verify the qualifications and expertise of the notary public. Notarized documents may be critical for legal or official purposes and should be handled by qualified professionals.
