The team at Millars Lawyers demonstrated an unparalleled level of legal expertise. Their profound knowledge of the law and attention to detail left me feeling confident and assured that I was in the best hands. They navigated my case with precision, providing valuable insights and strategic advice every step of the way. I would also like to give special credit to Phillip Millar who was inspiring and such a compelling force, I cant thank him enough for doing what most lawyers are afraid to do; speak the truth, no matter who it’s against or who it offends.

Ill go into detail on my lack of care in the next few days. This firm was hired based on a pile of promises that have never been delivered. The original lawyer I hired left them firm and I was not notified for months. After I hadn’t received an update and the file had gone past the anticipate date of completion I emailed the lawyer I had hired. There was an auto reply sent to me stating that he had left the firm. I was frustrated and made that clear to the solicitor that took over the file.

The new lawyer took over the file and said she had a plan to fix the issue and seemed to be very attentive. She told me she’d call me in the coming weeks with an update.

After months of no communication for a second time I emailed the lawyer for an update and again received a notification that the second lawyer had left the firm. I didn’t even receive a courtesy email or phone call.

I asked for the new lawyer assigned to the case to get in touch asap when I called as this is the second time I’ve received service you’d expect when hiring a firm with his bench ads. I received radio silence from the firm I contacted another firm to get involved to either take over or fine out if I should be concerned that the estate money was being stolen. Millars law is dodging their calls as well! Stringing them along but at least returning their calls (I have not received a phone call from the new solicitor to this date)

I requested the billing total for the minimal – Amount of work they’ve done (accepted a cheque into their trust account) and the total bill is already beyond the amount of the original quote I was provided for the TOTAL estate transaction. Essentially I’ve paid my total quote for them to accept the estates money and ignore my phone calls.

I’m starting to assume that I’m paying paying an hourly rate for the revolving door of lawyers to get “up to speed” on the file.

This was a simple estate with all assets sold, or so I was told. Multiple firms have said they would have had it done long ago… but I trusted the original lawyer and decided to go with this firm.

In summary, as of now my billing is higher than the original quote, I can’t get a call back, we’re double the time I was promised it would take to resolve the issue, they’re dodging my calls and the calls of the new firm I’ve hired to assist (we’re going on three weeks) and we have no resolutions, plans or updates.

I deal with law firms on a regular basis for my job but wanted to have this firm deal with my wills and estates. The deal we made was that if they made this transaction as smooth as easy as they described that myself, my mother/step dad and sister would have them write our wills. This transaction has been everything but smooth.

All I can say is that my experience up until this point has not been good. Beyond the initial consult; this has been nothing but headaches and high fees. I trusted them in a very vulnerable time. I trusted that my needs would be met and I could wash my hands with my grand mothers passing. All I can say is be careful when hiring this firm. Ask the lawyers how long they’ve been in the job and about turn over.

If this was a one off I’d be fine with it but something frustrating happens new every single time I reach out or have a representative reach out

I will adjust this review when a resolution happens but up until that point, this has been my experience.
