We had to deal with an expropriation case related to the LRT and our business. From the beginning Paul Barrette and Kristen Holt made sure I understood what to expect and answered any questions ( I had many) about this process which took years to complete. They are professional and thorough and when it was time to get what we were fairly entitled to, they made sure we were taken care of and got what we deserved. They enjoyed it as well. I would recommend Prowse Chowne for any needs you may have.

Planned to purchase an rental property in Edmonton and needed to find a lawyer to complete the transaction. I was referred to Matt with Prowse Chowne and he provided excellent service, along side his assistant Allison. Living in Vancouver with limited time, he was very responsive to any questions or concerns I had through out the process and was able to provide services virtually which was very helpful. I look forward to work with the team again in the future. Highly recommend!

Ryan was exceptional. We had an unusual situation with former friends living in our home, and no other lawyers were knowledgeable enough to help us since it wasn’t clear if the RTA applied. Ryan was professional and communicative. He helped us wrap up a messy situation quickly and efficiently. I would absolutely recommend him for any issues involving tenants or rentals.

My clients recently used Prowse Chowne for the sale of their condo. Even with a very quick closing and one person being out of country, the sale closed on time without any issues. My clients and I are very happy with the service provided by Baerach, Laura and Allison.

This review has been a while in coming; however, my appreciation of the efforts of this firm, especially Myles Applin, still needs to be given. Prowse Chowne LLP came to my attention through the Alberta lawyer referral program. While the first two firms suggested arbitrarily dismissed me and my case, Philip Prowse did not. He listened and came up with a plan and introduced me to the firm’s then student-at-law Myles Applin. ATB had issued a default judgment against me for a third-party debt, and I was fighting it. While I represented myself, the advice and guidance Myles gave me were invaluable. He was always available to take my calls and answer questions and review my documents before submission. He was also a source of encouragement throughout my self-representation during which I was a nervous wreck. (My budget prohibited any full legal representation). I learned so much about law and the court system through all of this. Thankfully, the judge dismissed ATB’s claim against me, and I was also awarded court costs. I don’t think I would have been as successful as I was without Myles. I am grateful to Philp and Myles for their help, patience and constructive thinking. If I ever need a lawyer again, I will be back.

Worst customer service ever! I was treated like garbage. Phone calls never returned, emails not answered and payed a horrendous amount of money. End result, changed lawyers and got results for about 1/4 of the price.

I had initiated a civil claim for a matter of wrongful use of funds; I represented myself until the defendant got a lawyer the day before pre-trial. I had minimal time to amend my claim and was a bit overwhelmed. Christopher Younker and his team were able to re-write and file the claim within 3 days. It was amazing… after dragging the claim on for over 10 months, the defendant chose to settle after receiving the amendment. Thank you!!

Went in to have a simple but time sensitive letter written up, and was told it would take two weeks. I told them that was fine so long as it was completed within four weeks. Get a call on end of week three from reception telling me that my lawyer was sick and would be done early next week. The only communication I re3cieved even though I called once or twice a week to talk, but only got voice mail. After eight weeks still had not heard back and went in to their office to complain. Work had still not been completed, so I decided to terminate the relationship due to it being to late. They then refused to refund me my full amount even though they had produced approximately zero work. Can’t say this goes for the whole firm, but definitely for my lawyer, and I sure won’t be going back to see if the rest of their team does the same thing, nor can I recommend any others to try them.

Indigenous intellectual property is a term used in national and international forums to describe intellectual property that is "collectively owned" by various Indigenous peoples, and by extension, their legal rights to protect specific such property. This property includes cultural knowledge of their groups and many aspects of their cultural heritage and knowledge, including that held in oral history. In Australia, the term Indigenous cultural and intellectual property, abbreviated as ICIP, is commonly used.
There have been various efforts made since the late 20th century towards providing some kind of legal protection for indigenous intellectual property in colonized countries, including a number of declarations made by various conventions of Indigenous peoples. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was created in 1970 to promote and protect intellectual property across the world by cooperating with countries as well as international organizations. The UN's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), signed by 144 countries in 2007, includes several clauses relating specifically to the protection of intellectual property of Indigenous peoples.
Disputes around indigenous property include several cases involving the Māori people of New Zealand.
