  Absolutely horrible. I was having a great day, hair was good just looking for a touch up. I asked for a mid skin fade with nothing off the top and let me tell you I did not get that. I believe her name was Irine something like that. She took my hair so high up my head it blew my mind. Neither side of the fade is even and to top it off she took some off the top. I look like a trimmed rat. And I still paid and left a $3.00 tip this haircut isn’t even worth $5 thanks for ruining the next couple of weeks for me. She should definitely be fired or made an apprentice.

  This happened almost every time, and today I’ve had enough.

  I checked in online, and it said my estimated arrival time was 2:00 pm. At 1:33 pm, I received a notification my stylist would be ready in 15 minutes. At 1:33 pm, I ALSO received a message that I was “on-deck,” meaning my stylist was finishing up with the person before me.

  I called the store at 1:39 pm and said I live just down the street and would be there in 5 minutes. I was told my estimated wait time was still 19 minutes (1:58 pm if you’re keeping track)

  I arrived at Sport Clips Haircuts Mission Valley at 1:45 pm… just 6 minutes after I called…

  I was told my stylist had just started another haircut “because I wasn’t in the store when I should have been” and that I would be next when she finished the haircut in about 40 minutes.

  I told they/them that my original estimated time was 2:00 pm – it was 15 minutes before that; I received a text saying my stylist would be ready in 15 minutes – just 12 MINUTES AGO; I also called just 6 minutes ago and was told my wait was still 19 minutes, and I said I was on my way and would be there in 5 minutes.

  They/them explained to me, like I was a child, that when you check-in, it’s “not like a reservation.” Obviously, they/them didn’t listen to a word I said or were incapable of simple math or the concept of time.

  I said to take my name off the list, and I would never come back again.

  They/them said, “Okay.”

  If this were a one-time event, I wouldn’t be leaving this review, but as I said, something like this has happened almost every time I’ve gone there over the past 18 months.

  It might just be poor management at this location, so if anyone knows another location where they actually care about their customers, please let me know… I still have three cuts I pre-paid for!

  I went in for the Veterans Day offer and was given the MVP upgrade because it was my first visit! Rosie was my hairdresser and she did a great job! I felt like a new man.

  Would say the girl who helped me should probably find another career path.. was whispering “ohh no that’s not good” THE ENTIRE TIME. It was borderline comical because come on that’s kind of funny but boy was she right. She literally forgot to cut one half of my head. My side burns are uneven by an inch and it honestly looks ridiculous. I forget the lady’s name. It was two girls closing, Irine, and some other lady. The other lady just messed up my hair really bad and I definitely won’t go back. I guess it is what you pay for but like come on😂

  Absolutely the worst haircut. Sides done with number 2 not even. Shelf like blend, numerous stick out hairs of different lengths on ends. Booking an appointment at different cuttery to get this fixed.

  I went to their website, used their very own scheduling app to find open times available for appointments, and was then told none of those times were accurate. I don’t understand the point of having an online scheduler for customers if they don’t update their barbers availabilities nor check to ensure it is in working condition + they didn’t even try to honor it at all for me. Offered me nothing while it was clear at least 3 three barbers were sitting around doing nothing between appointments. It seemed like they could have made a negative customer experience positive pretty quickly but they chose not to. Would never go back because of this, and it’s a shame because of the good reviews they do have. Tailored Hair for me personally was much more professional, great work with clippers and scissors alike, and honor their appointments with their own app for scheduling now. Highly recommend them based on these experiences.

  UPDATE (based on the Owner’s response): I don’t know how to reply or message you directly to explain the situation further, but I spoke with the lady in the front about it because she did not believe me either. And I went through the website on my phone with her watching me and showed her that appointments were available to book all day starting at 12:30 pm which is about when I got there, she then said she didn’t have any appointment until nearly 5 pm which obviously no one is going to wait around for five hours… she then said there was nothing she could do and that I’d had have to book online, which doesn’t make any sense because I showed her the openings I could book actively in front of her were for that time and plenty of times before the time she stated. She still refuted what she just witnessed with her own eyes and offered no resolution to the issue. So, in other words there was definitely a flaw in the system. Not sure if it was with her or the app, but the appointment system in general did not add up properly.

  SDSU freshmen here…I needed a new barber in the area since it was time for a cut. I had heard good things around about this place so I decided to give it a shot. I booked a same-day appointment with Rick. Rick was very friendly, had great attention to detail, and ultimately gave me a great first haircut in San Diego. The prices are good and the atmosphere is welcoming and clean. Definitely will be coming back!

  Always a great experience at Pappy’s….easy to schedule, great hours, friendly and clean shop and, best of all, amazing service and haircuts from Rick! I found the shop from online reviews and am very glad I checked it out; since my first visit, I’ve been back 5 additional times and now consider Pappy’s and Rick my barbershop and barber and I won’t go anywhere else. I highly recommend!

  Andrea is awesome. I checked in online and noticed she had the longest wait (I assumed based off that she was highly sought after). I haven’t visited a Sports Clips in many years because of a poor experience on my initial visit (not this location). Andrea and this location have changed my opinion of Sports Clips and if I was local to the area, I would definitely make this my main barbershop!

  I wish that sports clips’ corporate headquarters would improve their online check-in application. It results in potentially bad experiences for customers and salon owners. I attempted to use Sports Clips’ “online check-in” app, and reserved a spot in line. While I was stuck in traffic on the way over from downtown San Diego to Point Loma, I got a text, about 4 minutes before I entered the store, saying my place in line was dropped, since I wasn’t there yet. When I tried to check in, I was told there would be a 55 minute wait.

  The reservation app at some other salons does not “drop people.” You stay at the top of the list–but if you haven’t arrived yet, the next person in line is taken back for their haircut first. This avoids the annoyance of driving some distance–having made a reservation–only to be told to wait an hour because reservations are dropped at the 30 minute mark. My normal 10 minute drive over turned into 34 minutes plus a list reservation slot. Perhaps the app could be improved to send a text saying are you on the road stuck in traffic, or something of that sort…and then drop the reservations that don’t respond?

  I’ve only had good experiences at this location in the past. I blame the corporate app for the bad experience.
