What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I recently got my cat neutered at The Anti-Cruelty Society and the entire experience was great. Drop off is normally at 8 AM and there is about 10 minutes of paperwork to fill out. Then they call you into a room with the vet to answer any questions and go over the after-procedure care. Pickup is between 4:45 and 5:15 PM. Also there is free parking off Wells which is extremely convenient. I would highly recommend The Anti-Cruelty Society as a cost-effective way to get your pets neutered.

  2. Got my WES from here at 2 months so far it’s an adventure, he completes me and my son’s life, we all adjusting, and glad to have someone on our adventures, love our Wes, a blessing

  3. adopted my cat here and they were the absolute sweetest people ever. heres my cat who’s a little crazy but cute

  4. Went to pick up an American Pitbull Terrier named Mistic. Found out she was already adopted. Looked at the other dogs available and my daughter and I adopted an American Pitbull Terrier named Kaos. It was love at first sight.

  5. We will be forever grateful to the Anticruelty Society for helping us find Eleanore and Margot.

Everyone at the adoption center was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a recent loss and we’re not sure if we were ready for another kitty but we fell for Eleanore and Margot immediately. It’s kind of funny because they were a two for one adoption fee deal, but we definitely donated additional funds to help other cats and dogs find forever homes. The kitties had a little upper respiratory infection and all of their care was covered by Anticruelty at our local vet.

We even donated our old car to them six months later, we are so thankful to them for our perfect bubbies.

I was referred to CACC by a friend after losing both of my 12+-year-old dogs within a 4-month period. The website was a little overwhelming so many dogs to choose from. They were having an adoption event that weekend and adoption was free. We could not be more pleased with our Goofball Ruby aka”Tart”! This Rottie-Lab has won the hearts of everyone in the house. She is playful, sneaky and silly. Never a dull moment with this little girl. Suzanne help us she was very knowledgeable about the dogs and professional. We made a great choice with Ruby! Thank you for all your help Suzanne!

OMG no Wonder hardly any one wants to adopt pets. They take for ever to take care of you. I was there for more than 2hrs just to bring a dog that I found. The staff is like the city car impound they don’t want to do anywork, everyone is giving orders and no one wants to do anything. So many people getting layoffs and this people don’t appreciate what they have. The sad things is that we paid for this guys to sit around.

There are so many larger dogs. Sweet dogs. I’m glad they neuter and spay before you can adopt. They really try their best to do right by the animals. There are so many lovely pits that need a home. No small dogs. They are all picked up by non-profit animal “rescues”. Which I was annoyed by. I was looking for a small dog and there were about 10 there when I visited but they were not available to the public. Instead of paying $65 I had to hunt down a non profit that didn’t have an unreasonable vetting process and pay $200. Some of these alleged non-profit animal “rescues” milk you for $600 plus. Beware is all I’m suggesting. A lot of cats too. The person who escorted us was not too willing to let us see most of them. Not sure why. I don’t think escorting people to view animals was really his responsibility. We were pushed toward a select few cats. We had to politely insist on seeing more. Finally we found a 6yr old cat who was labeled “crabby”. Lol. I’d be crabby too if I spent 2 months in a cage. He is a shy, but loving house cat now. Definitely adopt. Don’t shop. Chicago is doing their best for these critters.

Always a great experience in my many years coming here for adoptions!

CACC is underrated for all the work they do for the city animals especially as an open intake. Volunteering and fostering dogs out of here has been the most rewarding. I don’t think people realize how many great dogs (of all different breeds) come through CACC along with a lot of other cats and small animals. Check out Safe Humane to do group volunteering or sign up to walk dogs so much help is needed!!

PAWS rescued my best friend! Leia, formally Doris, has been with us just under 3 weeks and we can’t picture our lives without her. She’s even already gone on her 1st of many family road trip & stayed in a hotel and absolutely loved it! Thank you for being so amazing, PAWS. From the counciling on adoption day, a follow up call, to her 1st vet visit being free, and a training class… you make sure these pets are going to the very best homes & getting the very best care. Thank you for giving me a new best friend. Anyone on the fence about adopting vs. going to a breeder, PLEASE check out the shelters & rescues first! And start with the amazing folks at PAWS 🐾

Adopted our baby girl Maple (originally Maisey) from Paws last week. She is an absolute angel and we’re loving how she’s quickly coming out of her shell and getting along with us. My husband and I are first time pet parents. And Paws made the adoption process seem like a breeze! Everyone including the volunteers and the adoption officials are so nice and welcoming. They took out the time to introduce us to each kitty in the shelter and the love they have for these fur babies is clearly evident in the way they mingle with them. Thank you for keeping our Maple safe till we found her! I highly recommend anyone looking for pets to adopt from Paws!

I want to thank Don and everyone at PAWS for helping us Adopt our new family member. He has a new name. We named him Barkley. Everyone was so helpful to us during the process. We looked for 2.5 years to finally find Barkley. We are really in love with him and so thankful that PAWS brought us together. Barkley is signed up for his training. We are looking forward to working with him. Thanks again to PAWS. You made our little family so overjoyed.

Wanted to give a generous donation accumulated since I recently lost my cat of 17 years. Unfortunately no one is there to answer and we are left to our own defenses. Therefore, giving my donation to a more worthy organization. One that takes the time to treat prospective donors with the respect they deserve.
