What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. I just moved my father into MacKenzie Place and I’m very pleased with the facility and the staff. They are professional, organized, well trained, courteous, and on point to help in any way they can. I’ve seen several facilities and this is clearly the best in Northern CO.

  2. This review has been a long time coming, but I wouldn’t dare post it until after I moved my dad out of MacKenzie Place due to the retaliation that I know he would have otherwise received from the staff. Five years my dad lived in the memory care unit there, and in that time, I don’t have one positive thing to say about the staff or the care that my dad received (or rather, didn’t receive). The staff are lazy and they lie about the tasks they completed, they take no responsibility and are quick to blame other staff members, they fail to follow the simplest of doctors orders, and they will claim false issues/additional needs on their assessments to raise rent costs. (For example, they claimed my dad was incontinent, which raised his rent by about $2,000 per month, but was never able to furnish documentation of his accidents and never utilized the incontinence products that we bought for him. His new facility has confirmed that he is perfectly in control of his bladder/bowels.) Don’t let MacKenzie Place fool you, this place is just as bad as the worst of them, but with a ridiculously expensive price tag and sales pitch to trick people into believing that their loved ones will actually be taken care of. They won’t. They will be neglected, nobody will care about them, and all the while, they’ll tell you everything is going great!

  3. We moved my father into Mackenzie Place Assisted Living in December 2022. We looked at a lot of different AL places and this is the one my dad wanted to go to as he says “my last home”! All the staff have been amazing. Walking into the front door you are welcomed by very friendly people. That is true of pretty much everyone we have encountered in the last 5 months of him living there. He considers them all his friends and seems very pleased with everyone. Of course he has his favorites!! It doesnt matter who it is that sees him they all say hello and call him by name. Everybody has been so loving towards him and the care he is receiving takes a lot of stress off his family. Katy, the Health and Wellness Manager and her team have been very attentive to my dads needs which recently has been many due to an infected toe. The communication is excellent. The kitchen seems to be well run and the food is great and all the servers have been wonderful. I wish I could call everybody out by name in this review but honestly there are so many that have been amazing I couldnt even cover them all.

  4. I joined the MacKenzie Place team in November 2021 and it’s one of the best career decisions I made. I enjoy our amazing residents and staff. As the Move In Coordinator, I have the honor of helping new residents transition to their new home. The company does a great job of providing leadership training opportunities to employees and staff recognition. Whether you’re looking for a new home or a new career focused on hospitality, MacKenzie Place is a great place to be!

  5. Interesting senior retirement complex in a desirable Ft. Collins neighborhood. I’m most familiar with the “Cottage” portion of the complex. These individualized yet connected homes are well-kept. The exteriors are very attractive and the grounds pristine. Lots of shade trees. Had lunch in the main dining room where the salmon was cooked perfectly and served with asparagus and a fresh fruit cup. Waitstaff was very attentive and professional.

As a concerned member of the community, I am compelled to write a bad review of this retirement home. The facility has failed miserably in providing a safe and secure environment for its residents. The most pressing issue is the high rate of staff turnover, which has left many elderly residents feeling neglected and abandoned. It seems as though the management is unable to keep their employees for more than a few months at a time, which is alarming and concerning. To make matters worse, some employees who have been hired do not take their job seriously, and have even been observed drinking while on duty. This is not only a blatant violation of workplace policy but also endangers the residents in their care. It’s horrifying to think that elderly individuals who are already vulnerable are being left in the hands of individuals who are not only neglectful but also actively putting their lives at risk. When management is confronted about issues, they seem to brush them off or make excuses, and little to no action is taken to address them. It’s evident that they don’t have a clear plan or strategy in place to combat the high turnover rate or to ensure that their staff is well-trained and capable of taking care of their residents. As a result, residents are left feeling frustrated and forgotten. The physical condition of the facility itself is also deteriorating. The rooms are dirty and poorly maintained, and there is a general sense of disorganization and chaos throughout the building. It’s clear that the staff is overwhelmed and unable to keep up with the demands of the job, which is reflected in the overall atmosphere of the facility. In summary, the retirement home is a poorly run and a dangerous facility. The high turnover rate of staff, coupled with the apparent lack of management support and training, has left residents feeling neglected and vulnerable. The fact that some employees have been observed drinking while on the job is unacceptable. I would strongly advise against entrusting the care of your loved ones to this facility, and urge management to take immediate action to improve the quality of care provided.

I recently visited Parkwood. I was very impressed with how clean it is, and all that they have to offer their residents. It is clear to me how much Joe the GM genuinely cares about his residents. When I saw him interacting with his residents it was clear to me that Joe goes above and beyond to make sure his residents are happy.

There is no bus driver. No housekeeping. Food is definitely not chef prepared. Not enough servers in dining room. The good caring people are leaving. There seems to be no help from corporate as they seem to be more careful about where to put a piece of paper than the needs of the residents. What does “corporate” plan to do to help Parkwood Estates. It seems like not much.

I visited Parkwood. The community is clean and quiet. It’s in a nice location and friendly staff.

I had a relative just move to Parkwood and, so far, we couldn’t be happier! The staff is a true team and everyone is terrific! You can tell they truly care about their careers and the residents. Meagan helped us get setup and ready to go, David helped with the tour and information and Joe made the sign up process a breeze while Lisa is the friendly face when we come through the front door. Moving is never easy and neither is giving up some things in life, however Parkwood does a great job of making that transition as easy as possible. I think my relative will really thrive at Parkwood.

First of all, I would like to say that the maintenance of your apartment is excellent. Whenever there was an issue, the maintenance staff was quick to respond and resolve it. They are always friendly and professional, and I appreciate their dedication to keeping the building in top condition. Secondly, the cleanliness of the apartment is remarkable. The common areas are always tidy and well-maintained. It is clear that the management team takes pride in the appearance of the building, and this is reflected in the overall cleanliness. The location of the apartment is also excellent. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to shopping and nearby amenities. I appreciate how convenient it is to run errands while still living in a peaceful, residential area. Lastly, I would like to mention how quiet the apartment is. I have had no issues with noise disturbances, and it is clear that the management team takes noise complaints seriously. This creates a peaceful and relaxing living environment, which is greatly appreciated. Overall, I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a well-maintained, clean, convenient, and peaceful place to call home. Thank you Affinity Fort Collins for providing such a wonderful living experience.

Affinity apartments of Fort Collins is great. They keep the property clean and kept up. They have a bunch of activities all week long to enjoy with other residents. There are so many amenities; pool, pickle ball court, gardens, movie theater, library, computer room, pub, craft room, dog wash room, and more. I am not able to join in many of the activities or use all the amenities due to my age and health but the staff always check in on me to see if I want to join into the big events. The staff is great they communicate and always return phone calls and they get right on any repairs that need to be done. It is a great safe place with lots of people who care. Very Comfortable, just the right amount of space. Great people, both the staff and the residents. Maintenance crew is always right there and very efficient. If you want to work out and have fun at the same time, there are exercise machines, pool, spa, woodworking room, pool table , ping pong and pickle ball A lot of activities from every card game available to 1st run movies. Love the happy hours. It sounds busy, but you can of course do as little or as much as you want. I am very happy that I picked Affinity

Love the apartment and features like pool and game room. Maintenance people are outstanding. Unfortunately a small minority of very demanding residents think this is a 5-star hotel, not an independent living facility and expect management to function as a concierge desk. I suggest staff members are trained to handle difficult people, resolve conflicts, and understand liabilities and risk management. Perhaps a nearby college has hotel management courses that could be helpful.

I moved into Affinity apartments 6 months ago, the first time I have lived alone for 60 years! At first it was difficult for me, but getting to know the facility and its ammenities, plus the staff, it has become more like home to me. The residents are friendly, and there is always an activity if you want to participate. The longer I stay here, the better it becomes! The staff is always there to help and make you feel at home Yeah Affinity!
