  1. I have been to a couple of my kids’ lessons and I am very pleased with how the teacher teaches his students. I feel like he takes the time to teach every step/movement and the importance why. I have 3 children ages; 6,10 and 12. No matter the age they are taught to perform properly.

  2. Absolutely the best place to get your body and mind right. Learning Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu Och has been an absolute pleasure. You learn something new every class and you begin to feel like Neo in the first Matrix when things start clicking. There is no better feeling.

  3. If you want the best martial arts in town, then you’ve found it. This place has been life changing for my son. Like most kids, my son has tons of energy and this is THE place he can let it all out and I witness the stress melt away. The instructors provide nothing but positive results. I’ve enjoyed watching my son grow and move up through the ranks. In fact, I’ve enjoyed it so much, I’m contemplating joining and learning the art of Wing Chun myself. Can’t say enough about this place. The instructors are amazing and we always receive a welcoming feeling when entering their doors each and every time. Five Stars Plus!!!

  4. Almost 15 months ago I walked through the door at Sifu Och Wing Chun. Out of shape, overweight and mentally broken. I was in the middle of the chaos of divorce, living in a new state, new town and not knowing a single person. Depressed and weak, standing at a fork in the road. Give up on life or take a step toward embracing it. I took the step, cautiously, to embrace it and it is paying off in a big way. Training under Sifu Och and his staff has helped me in tremendous ways. Mental clarity and focus have been restored, my confidence level increased and a complete physical transformation. Training here has helped me in ALL aspects of my life physically, mentally and professionally. My training has given me the energy to also get back in the gym, yes two a days!! As a result, today I am down over 65lbs and in the best shape I have been in since my 20s, I am in my mid 50s btw. So for my fellow “Old Guys” with “dad bods” that society is so quick to label us with, don’t accept it! The friends Ive made here, the family atmosphere, a Blessing. I hope you never find yourself where I was but whether you do or not, stop searching and come join us. I will close by repeating the motto that has kept me coming back for more… ”Just Show Up”.

  5. After just 1 class: Great facility! Very welcoming and informative about the programs offered. Brought both my kids to a trial class. Very structured with an emphasis on discipline and respect. They learned more in this one class than a month spent at another place. 100% better all around than where we were! Also, was not expecting to participate with my kids for a part of the class, and enjoyed the time with them. I look forward to watching them grow and learning the art of Martial Arts! Thanks Sifu Och Wing Chun.

    Have been away for a few months. When I returned to the Lakeland area I found out that Marc Spiro is the current head instructor under Rafa Santos. I didn’t even think twice. I made my way to Carlson Gracie South and the experience was better that I imagined it would be. Marc to me is by far one of the best and dare I say the best instructor when it comes to their children’s program. I would encourage anyone to bring their children and also join your children in their Jiu Jitsu journey. Marc keep it brother!!!

    My wife and I looked for summer programs that were open in the mist of the 2020 covid shutdown. To our surprise Carlson Gracie Lakeland was still open and in full swing. They offered a safe and clean environment for my son. Fast forward 8 months and he is still going and love grappling with his new friends. The life skills he is learning from this gym will stick with him forever! He even got me to join and start doing rolling on the Mats. I have met some amazing people at this place! They truly love this sport are super open to new comers and teaching you about BJJ!!!!! Stop in and get hooked

    My kids and I have been training here for a few months now and it is such a great place! The owners Fabio and Roberta are amazing people. Fabio is a jiu jitsu wizard and teaches well. Roberta teaches the kids classes along with a few other instructors and they are all very good with kids. They are tough but fair. The quality of training partners here is really good too. There are some very talented individuals training here and make the place feel like a team. I can’t recommend Fabio’s enough!

    Fabio Novaes BJJ is, by far, the finest self defense school in central Florida. The Lakeland location where both myself and my children train is a family-like environment. The instructors are professional and approachable. The training is well paced, thoughtful and practical. Whether one is training for self-defense purposes or to compete, the instruction is valuable for both. I feel like an extension of Fabio and Roberta’s family while I’m there. I’ve been out of the military for about 8 years, and I know I could easily best my former (Soldier) self in a fight today based on Fabio’s training. 10/10 recommend.
