  1. I’m kind of bias on this review of Nashville MMA, because I’ve been part of this school since the opening back in 2001. Hell, I was just a blue belt looking to get in the UFC when Ed Clay brought BJJ black belt Luiz Palhares from Brazil to teach at Nashville MMA. Ed wanted to start a dominant school in Middle Tennessee and the South East. He wanted the best ground school making his fighters wait two years to achieve their first belt in BJJ to be able to fight for him. Because of that all Nashville MMA fighters would go undefeated when fighting at particular MMA fight shows. Word got around about our school and propelled Nashville MMA to be what it is today. The formula has not changed only that Shawn Hammonds BJJ Association relays what Luiz did back then. Always given Nashville MMA an edge in the fight game which always made champions in the ring, cage and or on the mats. So, that is why I would be bias on this review lol…. Come train with us!!

  2. My son has been in martial arts since he was 6, he is now 15. We have been all over map to train. This is hands down one of the best gyms we have been in!!! Very knowledgeable coaching staff with a proven track record. If you are looking for a gym, this is the place to be!!!

  3. I’ve trained Jiujitsu in a few different countries and states. I’ve never encountered the level of knowledge that professors in Nashville MMA have. A perfect blend between BJJ fundamentals and new school mechanics. Both No Gi and Gi are incredible lessons. For the beginners is an incredible opportunity. But for those that have been training for a long time is equally incredible. Being able to have training partners with the level of expertise you will find here is a dream come true.

  4. Out of a family of 5 (soon to be 6) 3 of us train at Nashville MMA, and couldn’t be happier or more proud to be a part of the gym’s community. There is no doubt that within a few years, our whole family will be training there.
    The coaches are deeply skilled, deeply knowledgeable, deeply passionate, deeply patient, and are engaged with both veterans and beginners alike. We’ll be a Nashville MMA family for years to come.

  5. It is a great environment with different classes all day. From boxing to judo. Great place to turn yourself into an animal! But also learning proper techniques. I have learned so much in just this 1 month that I been here and I look forward to what I can learn and possible opportunities in the future with this gym !

    Profectus Brentwood runs an excellent gym! Dani leads the best women’s class on Friday nights. Being a woman in martial arts has totally changed my life. It is incredibly empowering.     Great gym. Good vibes, welcoming and friendly. The teaching was very technical. It’s clear that there is a depth of knowledge about jiu jitsu. People ask questions, and it’s a supportive environment. Good mix of all belt colors as well.

    My son (age 9) started training at Profectus in March 2021 and he has grown both on and off the mat so much. So much has improved since March… his behavior, his ability to focus, his confidence, his coordination. As a hyperactive kid, jiu jitsu has been incredibly beneficial for him. As a parent, I couldn’t ask for a better gym for my son. The environment always feels comforting. Fayyaz and Dani are so welcoming. Coach Will is wonderful with the kids. My son loves him. If your kid is interested in competing, Profectus provides so much knowledge and technical training for it. The kids’ classes are for any experience level and Coach Will always caters to the kids’ interests and various experience levels. Even the group of kids is great… they know how to be good training partners and help each other. The adults even help out with kids’ classes and I love that. The sense of community invites you in, the coaches and people keep you coming back.

    This BJJ gym is amazing! I’m visiting from out of state, but if I lived in TN this would be my home gym! Everyone from the owner on down was very welcoming. The instructors were very thorough and helpful. Gym was also very clean! 5/5 all around

    If you’re a woman looking to train jiu-jitsu this is the place for you. The environment is very welcoming towards women and starting their journey into martial arts. Dani leads a wonderful women’s class on Friday nights geared towards helping women excel in the sport. During the week day classes everyone is respectful and supportive to one another in the training atmosphere. Professor Fayyaz is a great coach and is always willing to communicate and work with you. I always love walking through the doors and getting to train under such great coaches.

    I’ve sent all my kids to this place at one point or another and they all love it. The coaches are amazing with kids and my oldest (the only child who is able to go to the classes still, because the other two are doing other sports) looks forward to every class. I love it when they run in and say, “Mom! I got a promotion!” Best jiujitsu place in town, I can’t wait to send my kids there for years to come!

    Professor Felix, Coach Kevin and the entire team of coaches and volunteers make this a great place to train and learn. My son and I have been here for a few years now and I can’t say enough about the quality of the instruction and support for learning. The instructors are great with kids, beginners, and experienced practitioners. It is a low pressure, friendly environment but I feel pushed to get better every time I come by instructors and training partners.

    My son and I have been going for for over a year and are huge fans of Artista! The environment is very clean and they are welcoming to beginners like us. Make no mistake though, you are there to learn and to get a roll in! Everyone is great and super helpful. Highly recommended!

    Joined Artista with my 13-year old son a few months ago as we have both been fans of mixed martial arts for a while. Could not believe how easily people were submitting me my first few weeks. Has been very humbling but everyone there shows good sportsmanship – it’s never about beating someone, just about learning and getting better. Professor Felix and coach Kevin do a great job teaching techniques. Everything is gone over in fine detail. Every session makes you focus mentally and physically. The gym is very clean and there is good comradery among the students. There are a lot of high-level students here but also a lot of newbies and intermediate students. It is amazing how much you can learn in a short amount of time but also very humbling to realize how much there is yet to learn. Highly recommend Artista!
