  1. Master Sosa is a premiere Martial Arts Instructor of Kuk Sool Won, studying this beautiful and elegant martial art all his life. Kuk Sool Won is an all inclusive deep seeded Korean Martial Arts with roots based on the training and lessons from the Korean Royal Guard. Its not just fighting and defending yourself. There are many more virtues and lessons taught and incorporated into each session. And Its also not just about the belt, its about the lifestyle. I recommend this for all ages 4 and up. It’s never too late to start! Kuk Sool!

I have been training at Ground Savage Brazilian jujitsu for a little over a year throughout this time I have not only gain confidence in my self defense but have developed a sense of safety that as petite a woman is hard to find. Brazilian jujitsu specializes in leverage, strength has not much to do with it and as 110 pound petite woman I find this training extremely useful in real life situation. In the school I have not only found a great professor who I feel comfortable with but I am also surrounded by a community that strive to help one another. I highly encourage women of all ages to take up some type of self-defense, I personally believe Brazilian jujitsu is perfect for any type of woman due to the fact that it’s about leverage. When it comes to fighting another woman in self defense it is much easier but when it comes to fighting a man is when a woman is really in danger learning about leverage helps you learn how to submit someone in order to get away from a life or death situation. Ground Savage offers adult training at different times throughout the day, I highly encourage everyone to try out a week for FREE!

I have to travel a great deal as a part of my job, whenever I do travel, I always look for a good place to train, “BJJ”. I have had the chance to train with numerous gyms around the U.S. Its hard to find a gym that has this level of high quality instructions. Ralph is a true Martial Artist, he is constantly trying to improve his knowledge base. He understands the importance of maintaining the mindset of being a student. Regardless of the color of his belt. He strives to learn more in order to constantly bring new innovative techniques to his academy. This is what makes a great coach in my mind. If I lived here, I would have my entire family train here. I highly encourage anyone who is searching for a safe, clean, professional environment. I have been in the martial arts world for over 30 years and I 100% can say, this is the best academy in S. Texas. Hands down.

Ground Savage was my first real exposure to BJJ and so far it’s been a great experience. I attend the 6:30am class because of my work schedule. Professor Ralph does a great job explaining techniques and then Coach Tony guides us through them throughout the week to make sure we get them right. They don’t just let you try and fail – they make sure you progress and understand everything. I’d highly recommend this school to anyone interested in BJJ, even without any prior experience.

Awesome place! Everyone is nice and respectful. As a woman this is a very good way to learn self defense, not only that but the professor really teaches you step by step in detail. So far I have really been enjoying Jiu-Jitsu also it’s a great way to let some stress out. It is also a very great work out. There is different schedule for the adult class which really convenient.

From the first day I walked into this school I felt incredibly welcomed by the professor as well as all of the students. Everybody is incredibly helpful and he gives you an entire week free so you really get a good idea about the sport before you sign up officially. I’d recommend this academy and BJJ to anyone interested in a martial art.

This dojo is the best one I have ever had the privilege of training at. Master Manny will push you. He sees your potential and will try to increase it exponentially. The family environment that exists at this dojo is awesome. The fellow students feel like brothers and sisters to me and helped push me when I didn’t think I could. If you want a sensei that is going to sugar coat everything this is not your sensei. If you want a sensei that wants perfection and will not hesitate to push you Master Manny is the Sensei for you! I definitely recommend him if you are looking for a dojo to train in!

My daughter and I were new to martial arts training, and wanted to find a school with a flexible schedule, long track record, (and for us) classes with a focus on jiujitsu (rather than places that teach a superficial level of a little of everything), and high-level instructors (here, they are all black belts). We found all of this and more here. The last three months of training have been a huge benefit to our entire family. Everyone is welcoming, and the instructors work with you at any level of ability. By this, I mean that you are placed in appropriate classes, and strategically matched with training partners. With regular attendance, this leads to consistent growth, all based on fundamental techniques and principles. Students are genuinely cared about as people beyond a transactional “customer / salesperson” arrangement. Classes have strong supervision and guidance from the instructors, who will observe closely in order to steer you toward mastery of the day’s training. Here, you don’t have to worry about someone with an inflated ego intimidating others, or causing injury. The training area is clean, spacious, and kept at a comfortable temperature. I did my homework in Brownsville and Harlingen before enrolling at this school. If there is a better quality place to train around here, I’m not aware of it.

Martial arts has given my girls the opportunity to learn self defense and confidence. I love the anti bullying classes the kiddos receive when the school year starts. Master Galvan and Ms Martha always give their best to motivate the kiddos to do well. Thank you to all the professors that take their time and are always so patient with the student.

Outstanding school, with black belts leading each class! The best martial arts school in the RGV. From the cleanliness of the school, to the quality of instruction Professor Manny brings to the table. Kids and adults would all benefit from coming in and seeing the caliber of martial arts we have locally.
