This place is a perfect 5 stars! The food is very unique and deeeelicious! Our server was very friendly and incredibly attentive.

I ordered the smothered chicken omelet; an omelet with a layer of cheese inside and topped with fried chicken thighs and an amazing savory gravy on top. Holy cow even though there was no beef!

A person in my group ordered the sausage omelet. The gravy on top was incredible; this was my favorite dish among our group!

Lastly, another person in our group ordered half-orders of banana French toast and blueberry French toast; both were amazing.

You’ve gotta treat yourself to this amazing restaurant!

If you’re ever in Chicago you MUST visit. It’s a small space so get there early or else you’ll be waiting in line to be seated. The food is🔥🔥 We enjoyed every dish… but the French toast were delectable. Also you can BYOB, which I would highly recommend. Staff was professional, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.

What a breakfast experience! First of all, service takes centre-stage here with great engagement, including regular riddles. We were convinced to get the super flight which was a sweet treat. Chicken waffles was a bit heavy and the chicken was on the drier side but altogether it was still a good breakfast!

Outstanding waffles and French toast with very friendly service. French toast flight comprised four pieces: a blue berry one, a strawberry one, a lemon one and caramel. Yum yum good. Fried chicken with sweet potato waffles a light sauce combined perfectly. Best Fried Chicken and waffles I have ever had. The sauce and sweet potato waffle (instead of traditional) make the difference. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Next time we will try the lamp chops that looks delicious

From a breakfast junkie, this is my new favorite breakfast spot in Chicago. The dishes were very unique soul food takes on bfast with a homemade feel. The service was top notch. Every person working there really cared about their job and the end product they were producing and it showed. Amazing food and amazing staff. Definitely check this place out, worth the wait!

Food was good! I had an omelet several times that week and the one from Yolk was by far the best! The potatoes that came with it were just okay… they could have been crisper. Pancakes were good, but nothing special.
    We ordered the following:
Cinnamon roll French toast, banana nut bread French toast, side of bacon. The Works omelet that came with a side of seasoned potatoes and pancakes.

We got there around 8:20 and we were warmly greeted at the door. The place wasn’t packed and we were seated in a booth. Our server shortly came to take our orders. We started of with drinks and ordered a very berry French toast and the breakfast mac & cheese (turkey sausage instead of ham).
We were very surprised by how quickly our food was prepared and even more surprised & pleased by how delicious it was. The portion for both meals was generous and enough for breakfast and the price was also reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and will definitely go back. I highly recommend this place for a quick breakfast but I suggest going there before 9:30 because it starts getting really packed after that.

Came to get breakfast on a Sunday morning. Luckily there wasn’t a wait and we got a table right away. Menu had lots of great breakfast and brunch options. We got the California omelette and it was good, a little on the heavy side. The eggs and pancakes was great though. Great place for breakfast and brunch! Will come back and try other stuff for sure

We ate here 3 out of four times for breakfast during our long weekend in Chicago. Great service and wonderful tasty food. We always got a table right away. Sunday was the busiest day, so the dining room filled up fast with large groups. Every dish I tried was very tasty: crepes filled with avocado, eggs, cheese and Greek yogurt with honey and fresh berries and oatmeal cook with oat milk with fresh berries in top. The coffee, sadly, is not great. Ketchup is served in a single-serving stainless steel ramekin No idea if it is Heinz ketchup or not.

Fantastic breakfast spot. Delicious French toast. Everything is done well and done right.
Whenever you want a good breakfast look no further.

Service is also really good and quick. And the prices are right as well. You can tell that everything cooked was fresh as this place is always busy and thus flips tables regularly.

I would recommend this to any one in the area or traveling and in need of breakfast.

This place is literally one of the best breakfast joints I’ve ever had!! I didn’t get the opportunity to try lunch or dinner here. But my co-worker for their tacos for dinner & said they were really good! Love the health conscious ingredients they use, yet it tastes AMAZING!!! I ordered the bacon, egg & cheese sandwich the first day & figured it would just taste like a basic breakfast sandwich. Boy was I wrong!! It was unexplainable how good it tasted! Their tea is really delicious as well! Environment is cozy & relaxing.

If you are a planner, this is where you want to be. I am not a planner and tried to walk in this restaurant for breakfast for 1 year and finally made it (only 25 minutes wait was acceptable) typical waiting time is very long and personally don’t like to plan the breakfast location ahead. I was glad it was worth the wait as the produces have a much better quality than other places and the vegan options strikes! The plate presentation is also well cured and the attention of details makes this place ranking much better than other places. It is a little more expensive than others, however it is totally worth it. They also have fresh fruit juices with NO sugar added! This is particularly rare around. The hashbrown were all cut and presented in a squared shaped form, not just the classic disordered small mount.
The service was great and the waiter asked several times for a coffee refill, which is much appreciated!
Definitely will have to change my habits to book some breakfast to make sure I don’t miss out again on this! Will definitely be back!

A good place for breakfast/brunch in the city. They have a good variety of options for brunch. Their coffee selection is amazing. Do try their freshly squeezed juices. Sunday brunches here great! Also, they have a really good pastry counter. Loved it!!

Great vibes, even better food! Service was great and talked us through what was available at the coffee bar. The Iced Banana Joe with Kahlua was the perfect recommendation, black coffee was on point. Chicken sausage was delicious. Egg whites were perfect. Overall wonderful experience! Saving for when we’re back in the city.

My friends and I were looking for an easy, casual restaurant on New Years Day to enjoy brunch. We ended up absolutely LOVING our food and drinks – even more than expected!

Pro tip – buy pastries after your meal at the counter to go!!

The restaurant is attached to a hotel. Would definitely recommend making a reservation to avoid a long wait.

A wonderful classic diner in the heart of downtown! Also, a great place to start your journey down route 66! Even when the line is long, it downstairs take much time to get through it and get seated. They’re impetus are huge. There coffee is great. And the staff is the BEST! I WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK!

What terrific place to grab a bite in a historic route 66 dinner. After we were seated they brought homemade donut holes & orange slices then took our order. I ordered the special, French Toast with strawberries, banana & toasted coconut, so good. We also got the Texas hash & eggs (note 4 eggs) potatoes with homemade cinnamon bread. Again yummy.
They were slammed & the service was great & if I lived here I would be a regular.

This is one of the oldest breakfast diners located in Chicago, it stands proud serve in the people of Chicago for 99 years. I found a service to be helpful the food was very nice although I wish I could’ve tried more things on the menu because it all looked delicious! The great thing about this diner is that it opens early at 6 am which means you can get in there and enjoy nearly breakfast before your day starts!

Nice cozy place and the lady serving us was very sweet. We went with the specials and that’s where things went downhill. First, there was no mention of the price of the specials on the board. We ordered the French toast and the steak skillet. The steak was so rubbery that it was difficult to chew. It was not the best. The French toast was decent but it wasn’t sweet as you expect from the French toast. The coffee was decent, not good. We also added the apple pie and it was extra sweet. This is something that was way too much for the breakfast. The shocker came at the end when the bill came out to be $72. I still can’t process the steak skillet my wife had which was all chewy was freaking $28. She said she wished she had the Dunkin donuts sandwich across the street. My French toast also seemed overpriced.
Two stars only for the warm welcome by the attenders.

What a comfortable, super great place for breakfast or brunch. Service is outstanding, food amazing. The inside is bustling with Chicago live. The staff is excellent just 💯 customer attention. Coffee fill ups no need to ask or you need a fresh squeezed orange juice. Yeah this is your kinda place a must visit. Enjoy 🥞🍳🥓🥯🧋☕️

Our breakfast was delicious. The coffee was also very flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was also excellent. You can add your party to the wait-list on Yelp in advance to save time (wait times can exceed 1 hour during peak times). I would comeback, highly recommend!
    ✭✭✭✭✭ By JJ L (7 months ago)
The wait list times on Yelp were WAY off from reality. Yelp said 26 to 46 minute wait, and our table was ready 15 minutes after we added ourselves to the wait list. Service was good, but rushed because they were busy. Food was outstanding. We got the countryside skillet and the yolk all star combo with the cinnamon roll french toast upgrade. The skillet was seasoned perfectly, and probably the best I have ever had. The combo was cooked wonderfully, and the cinnamon roll french toast was amazing but very rich. Would absolutely get both again.

Long wait time. Had to wait outside in the cold 🥶 waitress was very nice, however, she was not very attentive and it felt like she forgot about our table at times. Coffee came out cold. Breakfast was pretty cold as well. French toast was delicious. Bacon was also delicious. I know this is a personal preference but I cannot stand when my savory foods touch or on the same plate as sweet food. Bad combination in my opinion. Usually pancakes or French toast are on a separate plate. Overall, the food was good. Just cold. Might try it out again when in Chicago.

I really enjoyed this breakfast joint! My wife had ordered the portabella mushroom salad and it had everything in it but the kitchen sink. She loved it! And, it was big enough to feed a couple of truck drivers. I just had the steak and eggs, the steak was extremely tender and very flavorful. They cooked it the right way! When a steak is cooked the right way, you don’t need anything on it at all. The over easy eggs were perfect, the cheesy grits were fantastic! And, the coffee was bold and delicious.

It’s been quite a while since we’ve been to Yolk, and it’s good to see they’ve remained consistent. The service was great. Our server even let us order our coffees with the expectation that we could get something else if we didn’t like them. Food was quite tasty, but the pancakes were a little dry. Overall, a good experience.
