  1. I’ve been training at Gracie Barra Burton for over 3 years now and it has changed my life. Professor Jim Burchfield is an excellent instructor and everyone that trains here is friendly and helpful. The positive atmosphere and great workout you get when you train is addicting and I would recommend training here to everyone.

  2. I have been training at Gracie Barra Burton for about 2 1/2 years in the fundamentals and advanced programs. I am able to train with black belt Jim Burchfield in nearly every advanced class that I attend. His wealth of knowledge and excellent teaching ability has helped my BJJ game tremendously. The fundamentals program is taught by great instructors, and there are dozens of great training partners to train with. Highly recommend, has been life changing training there.

  3. I have been training at Gracie Barra Burton for almost 1 1/2. The coaches and students have made me feel welcome and comfortable from day one. It’s a fun and relaxed class with great coaches and students. I couldn’t recommend it more.

  4. I have been training here for close to a year now and I can honestly say it has changed my life and definitely for the better. Jim the professor and all the coaches are awesome they are all very experienced and make sure everyone understands everything while teaching. The people here are amazing too it’s everyone here wants to see everyone else excel. 10/10 Recommend!

  5. My daughter and I joined Gracie Barra going on two months, it has been a great experience.
    We have zero experience but are learning.
    My daughter was already in great athlete shape, me not so much but after joining I am getting there.
    The instructors have been great as well as the other members of the class.
    It is great for all ages. I see members anywhere from 50 + to 4 years old male and female. The instructors manage to be able to get full attention to everyone.
    the atmosphere is very friendly and helpful.
    I can honestly say this is not an attempt to just get you signed up to make a buck, they do not want you paying and not training.
    I am very particular with any ratings or don’t bother because it is a waste of time however I highly recommend this for anyone at any age.
    For you that may be a bit older I would like you to remember you don’t quit playing because you get old you get old because you quit playing.

    This gym is one of the best gyms I’ve had the pleasure of being apart of. Open to all ages with many different levels of classes. Not only is it great for adults but kids too. My 7 year old loves going to classes and learning from his coaches. They are humble, patient, and passionate when it comes to teaching both physical and mental strength. If you haven’t had the chance to check into it, I highly recommend

    I’ve been training here for almost 2 years and I really look forward to coming to class. Adam is a fantastic coach; he has the ability to teach at every skill level and to people with every background. He always keeps a relaxed demeanor but pushes you at the same time. Highly recommend coming to class and checking it out for yourself!

    Sitting out here duck hunting, reflecting on life, and honestly kept thinking about how glad I am that I joined Great Lakes BJJ and Fight Mechanix. Adam is a great guy! Super knowledgeable and friendly. Gives clear instruction and let’s you explore on your own a little too. Couldn’t recommend them any more. Five Stars!!!

    Classes are great for experienced and new fighters. The coach is incredible at explaining how each move works and giving examples of when to use them in competitions as well as self defense situations. The group is very welcoming and willing to answer any and all questions you might have as well as making you feel like you’re part of the team. If you are interested in learning self defense or want to train competitively I highly recommend checking them out.

    I have been to many gyms, but I’ve been going to this gym for about 4 years now, and there will never be another coach like Andre Garcia, I will never meet a coach as kind or as helpful and patient as he is with his students. He gives 100 percent all the time and my gym and my teammates are like my second family. I encourage you to come check us out!

    Awesome place to train! Andre is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. Friendly/ family like atmosphere with lots of different levels of experience. I felt welcomed and comfortable on my first day. Highly recommend if you’re in the Flint Area and want to give Jiu-Jitsu a try!
