What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Proud to say 3 out of my 5 dogs have been adopted from MCACC. 2 german shepherds, and 1 black lab. I love them dearly and they complete our family.

Having 3 adopting experiences gives me good a view and insight on the process/ staff.

Nothing but good things to say about the adopting staff, meet and greet staff, and clinic staff.

However I do think recently there staff has become over worked and they need more vets/ staff and volunteers.

Our last dog we adopted in July came home with 9+ ticks. Which seems hard to miss that many ticks when doing her spay surgery…

Other than my opinion on them needing more staff I have no complaints. Definitely suggest adopting from the shelter.

Look online before you go, it’s nice to read there notes. It’s also nice to walk around the whole facility because one might catch your eye that you wouldn’t have considered just by a picture. These animals all deserve a loving second chance.

  2. My wife and I came in on August 21st, 2022, specifically to meet a cat named “Bomber.” Even though it was very busy when we arrived (maybe around 12PM, not long after they opened) every staff member we spoke with or encountered was very helpful and friendly! We had already researched Bomber on the county website and he seemed like the perfect fit for us, so after a short wait, we were taken back to meet him. Bomber was the sweetest kitty, so we said we would take him right away. Roughly an hour later we were heading home with our new best buddy! The adoption process from beginning to end was smooth and quick, especially considering how busy the shelter was that day. I think the entire trip was around an hour and a half total.

We absolutely adore Bomber! He’s the gentlest, most loving old man. He gets along great with our dogs, and he just seems to genuinely enjoy being around us. I work nights, so he spends his nights laying on the sofa in my office and keeping me company (and sometimes distracting me with his cute snores!)

I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ to the Maricopa County Shelter for helping us find our new best friend! We will definitely recommend the shelter to any friends or family looking for a new loved one to adopt.

  3. What a great experience! Staff was compassionate, considerate, accommodating and friendly! The desk staff had great personalities!!! Ended up adopting a sweet your pup and so far so good! my only complaint is that I wish there was an after hours emergency number to call with concerns or questions for those who adopt as we did have a situation in the middle of the night following a spay. I also wish there was a number to call before noon for concerns.

  4. It’s a great place to pick up dogs. I’ve adopted several through here. The staff sometimes have an attitude but nothing to outlandish. They are almost constantly running specials on adoption so definitely an affordable option

  5. Got the absolute cutest 14 month old Lab Boxer mix. He was happy and healthy aside from a couple of ticks we removed the day he came home. Definitely give them a once over and take advantage of the free pet checkup at the local vets that they give you a list for. I highly recommend rescuing a dog or cat instead of buying from the puppy mill stores. Plenty of abandoned animals need love.

Recently, my boyfriend and I relocated to Arizona, and we made the decision that we wanted to rescue a furry friend. Once we arrived, everyone greeted us warmly, was incredibly helpful, and the entire location was neat and tidy. Dogs, cats, bunnies, and more are available there! I have witnessed volunteers and staff socializing the animals, and every animal we have met has had a clean, healthy atmosphere. I met Shyanne Boot the cat with my boyfriend. She is adorably cute and quite amiable. She was a little nervous when we first acquired her because our home was a new place for her, but the next day she warmed up and we noticed how much she enjoys belly rubs and sitting on our laps. Adoption procedures were simple to comprehend and follow. Although it takes a little while because everyone is rushing around attempting to assist others, I assure you that this site is totally worthwhile. The staff is happy to answer any questions you may have and is available at all times. If you’re looking to adopt, please come here. We are so grateful that she entered our lives. The fact that you can choose to spend a few minutes alone with the pet you want to see is one of the reasons I suggest going to this location when you want to meet a pet. You want to be able to see if the pet is suitable for you and your household. I rate this place a 5/5 🙂

my boyfriend and i were looking at adopting a pet for the very first time! we drove almost an hour to the arizona humane society, where we met Asher! we got there at 5pm, an hour before they closed, just to look around. at that point i already knew Asher was the perfect fit for our home. somehow they were able to get us a meet and greet with him the same day! he was just the sweetest kitty ever. we scheduled an appointment for the following day as soon as they opened for curbside adoption and filled out the paperwork. i highly recommend curbside adoption, it’s super quick, no hassle. took about 10 minutes. as much as he HATED the cardboard carrier, i could tell he was so excited to go home. this was the best decision we have ever made and we are so grateful for organizations such as the humane society!!

For July’s clear the shelter event, we arrived as soon as they opened and found our perfect pup!! It was so easy to make an appointment online, I was so anxious for them to open. 6 month old Finn Ryder (formerly Anchovy at the shelter) is a black lab mix and the perfect fit for our family! At the shelter, the volunteers and staff were so well versed on every animal and were so generous and kind. They were patient in showing me the 2 dogs I was interested in and allowed me time to find out all of their information and get to know them before finally deciding on our boy. ???? The adoption process was quick, easy, and he came with a full health record from their veterinary clinic! 30 days of free pet insurance eases the mind knowing puppies can into trouble. He is so social, loves people of all ages, so good with other dogs, and is absolutely enamored with his new mom and dad! ???? Finn is such a loving, sweet, eager young pup and I’m so thankful AHS got him so that he could find his way into his furever home! ????

We adopted 2 of the sweetest dogs just over a week ago. One is a 10 year old terrier mix, and the other is a 2 year old chihuahua mix. They were a bonded pair, and they definitely like to be around each other. They are adapting well and have won over our hearts completely. The Arizona Humane Society was very organized, the kennels were clean, the pets were clean, and the staff were all very friendly. They made the process enjoyable and easy. Thank you!

We adopted Penny from the Petsmart in Scottsdale. The experience was truly easy and informative. We saw Penny on-line and came to visit. All the dogs barked except Penny who talked to us. She is very well behaved and just truly affectionate. We have fallen in love with her and she has made new friends.

I wish I could tell the people that gave their dog up for adoption that he is happy and in a good home. We are beyond happy with our new forever pup. Not to mention the staff we’re all fantastic. Everyone there seemed genuinely happy and that includes the animals. It was very tidy and there was no smell of sickness or waste. Definitely the best experience I’ve ever had. Everyone was professional and caring. The person at the front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful. Everyone there was patient the experience was unforgettable thank you so much for all the work you. We are so grateful to have a sweet dog like Ted in our family.

Bob the Volunteer and Katie, the Volunteer Coordinator, were wonderful guides for our group of 13 kids. They were patient and kind, engaging and informative. Thank you for the work you do for our furry friends and for sharing that love with us.

I adopted my little guy one week ago today. He came with the name Brioche but I named him Taro. He’s blind, AND SO INTELLIGENT. They said he wasn’t potty trained as he’s only 4 months old but within the first three days he was fully potty trained, and whistle trained for recall. I loved this shelter, they were so kind. Everyone I encountered had a great attitude. Their cleaning protocols were also pretty nice as well. I would adopt from here in the future and I would recommend this place to anyone.

I want to thank the young lady in the cat adoption area that was there on 5/6. She was really helpful and did not pressure us into a decision. She covered every precaution, and advocated for the animals. In my experience as a former vet tech and kennel tech— I have seen many animals go unadopted because of the way pet professionals relay valuable information using terminology that the general population would not understand. So I want to commend the staff on their proficiency when explaining to adopters that intermittent behaviors are expected from animals, however it does not mean that the an animal is not adoptable. It just means owners have to be willing to take on the time and effort that goes along with adopting animals. I love the facility and the staff. Thank you!! As far as the facility goes, it is extremely clean and calm. The pets are happy and content. The outdoor dog area is nicer than most dog parks. The kennels are clean, and I am impressed with the size of their indoor kennel and access to outside space. The kennels are air conditioned and well ventilated. They have exercise areas and cots that are actually useable. The organization as a whole provides exponential paperwork and detailed records upon adoption.
