  1. This is a cute neighborhood restaurant, with great service and delicious food. 😋 we wished we ordered the French toast (so if you have sweet tooth, you should consider it). I ordered extra cheese on my omelet and it was just the right amount of cheese! The menu has several appealing food options that you won’t regret the visit

  2. Really fun place for a weekend brunch. We came without a reservation on a Sunday morning. Said it would be 20 minutes, but had us seated in 6. Staff was friendly. Menu was diverse and had plenty of options, vegan gluten free etc. We sat out on the patio, which was closed and heated, and even on a cold day was very comfortable. The food was all delicious and it had a very good atmosphere/vibe. We would definitely recommend, and will be coming back!

  3. What a nice place! Great atmosphere in a converted old house. Very friendly and competent staff. Most of all we enjoyed the food. They have limited off-street parking but being that it’s in a residential area parking on the street should be easy most of the time. I got a spot less than a block away.

    We tried Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. The only negative was that there were so many menu choices that it was tough to decide. I ended up going with the amazing yogurt parfait and the eggs Benedict croissant. My wife got a “lunchier” chicken salad sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries.

    Everything was great. Even though it was busy we didn’t have to wait for a table and the service was outstanding.

    We plan on trying this place for dinner in the very near future.

  4. Best brunch stop of our whole trip. It’s hard to pick a favorite item because everything was top notch!
    Don’t skip on the croissants for a starter (you can also get them to go). I ordered the crab eggs benedict; it was all superb; from the flakes croissant to the plentiful quantity of crab, and the eggs were cooked perfectly with a decadent hollandaise sauce. The chocolate moose with homemade whipped cream was very flavorful and a pleasant texture.

    The atmosphere was cozy and clean. The ceiling in the upstairs was pretty and there was lots of natural light which is great for a breakfast stop.

  5. Slightly pricey but good food and service. Parking is very limited (a few spaces in the back; 1 or 2 in front), which tells me this great for the neighborhood locals to walk to. It’s very comfortable inside, with most seating upstairs. This was my first time but liked what I got. My wife had the salmon, eggs, salad, and fruit and a croissant; she loved it. I had the open-faced chicken salad sandwich and soup of the day (potato and leek), which was slightly light on salt but that’s a good thing.

    We came here for a weekend lunch, and the restaurant was almost fully packed. The mussels were just okay – many of them had sand inside. The Brussels sprouts was fine, but it’s definitely on the much more oil side of all the crispy Brussels sprouts that I’ve ever had. Overall, it didn’t particularly stand out, and I might not come back again.

    Our second time at Lyon Hall. And this time we brought friends! Everything was just as perfect as the first time. My steak was perfectly cooked to how I wanted it. The cheeses were deliciously smooth and great with the fresh hot baguettes. They had tasty vegetarian options too. Always a pleasure to visit Lyon Hall when we travel to DC.

    First time here and Lyons Hall made a great impression. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. The staff was very courteous and attentive. As far as the food, we tried 2 appetizers, the escargot and the squid. Both were great to try. The squid was okay, the sauce and chickpeas made that dish. The escargot was a bit lost in the buttery garlic sauce. Great side basket of bread and spreadable butter. The entrees we tried were the chicken, the beef medallions, and the short rib entree. All 3 were pretty tasty. My cappuccino was right on. Great cup of coffee.

    From my (delayed) celebratory birthday dinner since someone special had to work on my actual birthday/ national holiday in France 🇫🇷. Not pictured was the (amazing) escargot 🐌 appetizer or the German beer 🥨. Overall a very happy girl with a French 75 cocktail, escargot, mussels vin blanc with frites & ANXO Nevertheless cidre. My husband and son ordered the pork schnitzel with a side of fried brussel sprouts and the clams and chorizo with a few rounds of beer. There was room for dessert which was a (savory decadence) of the chocolate pot de crème and cappuccino. C’était délicieux!

    Very enjoyable European vibe with French and German foods. I love sampling wines from around Europe- a glass of French wine, something from Austria, dabble with a German wine. And on a warm spring evening, sitting outside with beer and a pretzel is hard to beat. The duck was delicious but they have so many good options that it’s hard to choose.

    Stopped here for lunch on a beautiful spring day, and enjoyed my meal overall with a friend on the patio. Service was great, but not enough to make up for a so-so entree. I started with their French Onion soup and it was excellent, one of the best I’ve had in the area or anywhere else. However, it was a big drop off to the NY Strip Steak. I thought the accompanying sauce took away more than it added to the otherwise fine cuts of beef. Fries were good though.

    We went here recently to celebrate with some friends who had eloped. The atmosphere was very classy and would also make a great date night. Low lighting, very elegant great style. I had the duck con fit which was highly recommended. I enjoyed it but could have done with some different sides with the duck, maybe something with a bit of a different texture. My husband loves the steak and it seemed to disappear almost immediately, so much so I did not get to even try it. Our waiter was very helpful and checked in with our group of 8 often but not in a way that was too much. He was so kind as to bring complimentary champagne for our entire table to toast the bride and groom when I shared the occasion. The restaurant also sent two free desserts out too, delicious ones. The Oreo cheesecake (I believe) came in very large slices, easily shareable. I also ordered the chocolate raspberry mousse which was perfection. If you like the sound of that order your own. The size was perfect as it’s a rich combination, but not a piece for sharing. Delicious and I do recommend!

    Wow. I was so impressed with it here. I booked this before travelling to Washington because I’d heard and read good things and they were all true. The decor is lovely, the service was good (though maybe slow in parts) but the food was terrific. I had the French Onion Soup and the Mac n Cheese (my sister had the Steak Tartare and Caesar Salad and loved hers). I love Mac n Cheese; it’s probably my most favourite meal ever. But this was probably THE BEST I’ve ever eaten in my life. It was BEYOND incredible. I will crave this forever; I’m not over exaggerating (though it doesn’t seem like part of a French meal to me, but I’m not complaining). If you live in Washington, or are coming, definitely keep this on your list. It’s lovely (with great outdoor seating options on a beautiful day) and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

    Recently revisited this spot a few times for brunch / lunch after the world began reopening in the wake of COVID-19. While Brasserie Liberte maintained the same incredible atmosphere and commitment to service that I loved before the world shut down, I was shocked that all of my favorite plant-based options had disappeared! Aside from their salads and a few small appetizers, most of Brasserie Liberte’s menu is centered around their meat and seafood (which, to be fair, does seem absolutely incredible). Their salads are still delicious — I’ve developed a minor obsession with their endive and bitter greens salad, which I order every single time I come here, but I am a bit disappointed that there aren’t any other choices anymore. Even so, still love the staff, the classy yet casual vibes, and the general energy of this restaurant. — This place is absolutely delightful! Everything about it is essentially perfect — the food, ambiance, and service are all stellar. I happened to be here for lunch, but Brasserie Liberte is so incredibly versatile and would work for virtually anything, whether you’re stopping by for a casual meal with friends, family, or coworkers, or if you just want a drink at their bar. Let me start with the ambiance. First and foremost, the decor and furniture are beautiful. Everything is very casual, relatively quiet, and everything, even the lighting, is great. There are large windows in the front half of the restaurant that provide an abundance of natural lighting and just really give the whole place a lively and wonderful vibe. I visited in late January, but I’m sure that their outdoor seating is also delightful when the weather is a bit better. However, if you’d prefer a dimmer and more muted space, the back half of the store is more shielded from the light and creates a cozier environment. This is truly a space that can suit everyone’s preferences. The food is also delightful. I had the carrot grain bowl and was truly pleased with my meal. I’m not sure if there was anything that really stood out or struck me as something to call home about (although I must say, their white wine vinaigrette was pretty good), but it was certainly a delightful meal at a really reasonable price. The portions were also quite large — my single salad could feed me for two meals. The service was also awesome. Our server checked on us relatively frequently and always made sure that our every need was met quickly and efficiently. Our water glasses were never empty, and we were definitely well cared for. However, my positive impression of Brasserie Liberte’s service began outside the restaurant. I must admit that I’m fairly directionally challenged, so I got a bit lost on my way to the store. However, I was lucky enough to bump into one of the restaurant’s employees while I was wandering in circles around a courtyard a few meters to the left of Brasserie. They were kind enough to walk me to the restaurant while still on break. All in all, I loved the food and ambiance, and greatly appreciated the quality of the service. Would highly recommend this spot for a casual meal with virtually any crowd

    The restaurant had beautiful Christmas decorations, so the atmosphere was nice for the holiday season. The server was nice and polite, but the two women at the front desk seemed bothered and impatient when I asked a couple of simple questions, such as if they had crayons for small children to draw while waiting (and they don’t). Feels like if I shell out $200 for a meal, I should be able to receive decent services. After waiting for a while, the food finally arrived. They were mediocre at best. We ordered Mac, escargot, several seafood dishes, and duck confit. None seemed extraordinary. Street parking was impossible, but there was a parking garage nearby, which costs $20 for two hours. Overall experience was so so, will not go back.
