What People Are Saying: 5 Customer Reviews

  1. Staff is absolutely amazing and very helpful with helping us adopt this angel. Tara and Kelsey were the best. Tara stayed super late just to help us finish paperwork so we could take her home the same night❤️. She will be so loved because of them!!

  2. We had a great experience! Caroline was so very helpful!!! She answered all of our questions and helped us bring home our sweet Spice!!! She helped us introduce Spice to our 10 yr old Maltese Sugar and was so patient with us!

  3. Immediate smell of urine as soon as you open the doors. The handling of small animals shouldn’t be allowed, especially for the hamsters. The ferrets were very aggressive and kept biting hands that were presented. Anyone with basic knowledge can figure out the puppies come from a breeding mill. Overpriced and sick as seen by the other reviews. The dogs also had rodent bottles to drink from, not even a water bowl.
They have tons of rats and mice in fish tanks along with a breeding rack as soon as you walk in (rats shouldn’t be in a tank).
The reptile enclosures were sad. Carpet, red lights, incorrect diet (leopard geckos are insectivores and should only eat live insects), and some of their hides were previously used for rodents and have chew marks on them.

I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new member to add to their family to do proper research and not support a place that gets their animals from mills. A lot of the products they sell aren’t safe for animals either (like the critter trails for hamsters, reptile carpet, red heat lights, etc).

  4. Tara was great and friendly she made sure our family was well taken care with everything we needed for our little pup. Just got a new pup to go with our first one!

  5. Walked in to buy a toy for my bird and walked out with a new puppy! The associate Ashley was very helpful and knowledgeable. She answered all of our questions and she didn’t pressure us to buy. Their starter kit comes with all of the essentials, including a cage! How awesome is that?! Nice experience!

Thank you YWAC for giving me my sweet Bonnie❤️ I came the “clear the shelter weekend” and they were absolutely swamped. Only lost a star bc wait times were outrageous- 2 hours. But I don’t fault the workers. It seems like they were understaffed that day and the 2 people working the entire front desk were overwhelmed. At the end of the day they made the process easy. Just a couple forms and $25 dollars to take her home. This included up to date vaccinations, microchip, and spay surgery. I took advantage of their stay the night program and did a 3 night trial period first, to make sure she would fit okay into the apartment life. Needless to say she fits in perfectly! She’s the sweetest, snuggliest, most playful little kitty. We’re glad we could give her a home.

Thank you Young-Williams for helping me find my new best friend. I officially adopted Tatum today. I met her on Friday at the Division Street location, and since she is my first dog, I asked to take her on an adoption sleepover to make sure she was a good fit for me. They told me I could have up to 3 nights with her before making a decision, which was really helpful because she was pretty stressed at the shelter and I wasn’t sure what her personality was. Once I brought her home, she opened up so much. I knew after the first day that I wanted her. When I called today to finalize the adoption, they answered the phone and even asked how Tatum was doing. Everything was done over the phone within 5 minutes. YWAC made everything very easy. All of the employees and volunteers were so kind, and all of my questions were answered about Tatum’s history and the adoption process. They let me take her for a walk to spend some time alone with her at the shelter. When I decided I wanted to take her home, they sent me with a folder with her known history. They also gave me a leash to take her home with and a small bag of food to get her through the first few days. If you’re considering adoption, I highly recommend adopting through YWAC. The employees and volunteers seem to really care about the animals.

This place is very nice for the animals. The structure itself is beautiful. The employees seem to have a true passion for the animals. The only thing I would complain about was the wait to view a dog. Perhaps it was because it was name your own price for 30lbs and up at that time. Edited since this review… My aunt and uncle adopted a dog “Boone” who is now named “Jack”. The dog was known to “nip” at people. For all those adopting please know that it could be the dog is just nervous. Jack is the most smart, loving, and gentle dog you could expect to have. We adore him!

I haven’t personally adopted a dog from there. But being a no kill shelter is a huge plus. My time living in TN, they abandon dogs all the time or just chain them to trees and they live a horrible life. I’m glad you are making a difference. Get them to people who appreciate the love of k9. I appreciate the work your organization does. We need more organizations like you around the state. Good work.

Odie (dog pictured) has been going to Miss Lucy for grooming since November of last year. We swapped groomers from a smaller local shop due to their odd requirements. Was very hesitant to use a bigger store but was so very pleasantly surprised. Miss Lucy is patient and kind and seems genuinely excited to see him (it’s fine if she’s not but good on her for faking it). Love everything about how she cuts him. We’ve been back now three times and will continue to come back. Odie just received his summer cut. He’s a double coated dog so I asked her to cut him as ethically short as possible. He looks phenomenal!!! 10/10. First time cutting him this short but won’t be the last. I recommend Lucy for all other Australian Shepherd owners.

I’ll give it a 4 star because it usually smooth sailing. However, when they run out of the prescription food, it takes forever for restock-even when the items are on pallets right next to the shelves! Also, a female employee, when there was a situation with an App order, was asked by me-“is there anyway you’ll try to help me here”-her response was brief, rude & a concise “Nope.” (Verbatim). I wouldn’t call that very good customer service. Most the time it’s fine. There’s a few really nice employees, I’d name them if I knew their names. I would say-restock isn’t up to snuff but overall a satisfactory experience

Just misses five stars because they seem to always be low on stock of the Science Hill cat food we go there to purchase. The service itself is fantastic, but inventory can be a problem at times.

The reps were very helpful. They showed me to the area for frozen mice and helped me pick one for our snake. The person helping asked for my number to look up my account to make sure I received my points. Thanks a bunch!!

Me and my husband love this place!!! We had a lot of fun being there, all workers were very helpful. Amber was awesome and great to talk to. The 2 woman that worked with the kittens and cats, (I’m sorry I don’t remember your names) but both of you were so sweet, fun, great to talk to and such wonderful women and great volunteers. Thank you guys so much. -Amanda & David-
